My pleasure Harry glad to share and really hope it helps your lungs.
all is well with me and mine for the most part...thanks ....

except for my youngest had to close her newly expanded business and had to lay off 21 staff and still has huge rent payments and loan payments...we have been so excited and proud of her...now its downright scary no but British Columbia seems to be flattening the curve so things might open up here in a few more weeks...fingers crossed

We have had beautiful weather so my husband and I have been gardening ALOT .... usually I garden on my own but having two of us working is making a huge impact this year...

our son does our grocery shopping so we are safe from possible exposure.

be safe Harry and everyone

I recommend doing this qi gong breathing exercise for strengthening lungs... as always with Qi gong even a short daily practice will help.

stay safe friends

Hi Jags,

It's so good to hear from you! I'm sorry you're having to deal with all the concerns this virus has brought upon us, but you're doing a great job from your message. I'm afraid it's going to take a bit longer before we're in the clear, but we're going to come out on top. The loss of life and sickness caused by all of it, is devastating for everyone. Do everything you can to avoid exposure and if you're able to tele commute, do it. I think this will prove to be a game changer in our ability to do our jobs, once the challenge has been won and we will.

We have lost many of our healthcare professionals here, too. Some deaths, but many illnesses and that removes them from the fight. You're doing the right thing by isolating your husband. Asthma, is one of the recognized pre existing conditions that might open him up to a worse case of it, if exposed. We just don't know right now. There seems to be different strains of the virus, but I haven't heard them refer to those differences as genotypes. If that proves to be the case, then some strains have proven to be a lesser infection. There will be a lot of learning to follow, once this has been resolved.

Stay in touch and keep us informed. Give my best to your husband, I'm sure he's about stir crazy, as am I. Take care my friend!

Hi all ...Thankyou for your wise and kind words. i have spoken to my (pleased to call her) former..hep nurse. She called me to reassure me that I am not at risk, anymore than someone who had never been hcv.

she advised me if I were forced to go back to home visits ( foster families and children) to wear ppe, wash hands regular and social distance, not touch face etc but added to shower when I get home and put clothes straight in machine. My manager Has for now assured me I can continue to work from home and make virtual calls etc so feeling relieved at the moment. I too, seemed prone to anything going first year post Epclusa , lost a tooth, had flu and only had to hear a sneeze and got a cold...I got high blood pressure too. Things have settled now though. my husband is chronic asthma so he has been furloughed for 12 weeks and in total isolation shielding ...thats another worry for me with Covid if I were to catch it. like you all , we have battled the dragon so not afraid of a fight but without correct PPE I will be refusing to pick up those home visits for the forseable  future should they ask again.

i fear our government has failed us here in Uk and not locked us down until we had 57 infected but Italy went to lockdown at 17 so we have more to come and possibly going to peak this Friday 17th, its anticipated. we have lost many nurses and doctors already due to shortage of ppe . I pray for us all and all of you and your familEs...stay safe ...love you lots Hep family xxxxx

Jag...I know the feeling, having graduated with honors from the Epclusa College of HepC treatment, ... yet the past two and a half years I have been a **** magnet. It started with an outbreak of herpes in my eye that nearly took my vision over the course of about 9 months(but didn't), then a prostate infection where treatment with Bactrim/Septra nearly destroyed my liver.

Now I am a bit (  a lot? ) nervous as I live in a major city where we are using the 14th century method of disease mitigation, aka as "hiding from other people".

I'm a 68 year old former smoker, drinker with High Blood Pressure (treated successfully), Multiple Sclerosis, Type A+ Blood,  and chronic pain treated with opioid meds.

In other words, I check a lot of the boxes mentioned by medical "experts".

Oddly, I think I have one thing going for me. Despite the enormous flak as I have taken over the course of my lifetime, I have also been proven "Hard to Kill".

I think that most of us here share that distinction, and though it is far from a medically proven protection, we are all still here.

So I will continue to hide out, and pray that Jared Kushner is fired from his new job as "In Charge of Covid19" in the USA.

Onward!

Harry,

Unless you have pre existing auto immune disease, then your immune system should have recovered post HCV treatment. They can test for auto immune diseases, but I think from your history and what you've told us, you don't have that particular problem. Your previous viral load has zero impact on anything now.  During treatment with the old protocols, namely Interferon, Ribavirin and one of the old NS3/4 protease inhibitors, like Incivek and Victrelis, our immune function absolutely crashed. The new DAA's don't cause similar problems. It took me almost a full year to clear all the old drugs and their after-effects and had great difficulty with it. I'm so glad the new drugs don't rely on destroying our immunity.

You need to be particularly careful with your health during this crazy time. Asthma can certainly complicate things, so be aware of the people you're around and keep your distance. If the weather is damp, stay inside as much as possible. Easy to say, but damp ground and moisture can lead to mold and mildew, which can be an asthma trigger. It's hard to deal with neuropathy. I'm developing it now as well and I'm not liking it much! Old age isn't much fun some days!

Be well my friend!

Hi jaggles...nice to see you again

I am not sure of the protocol where you are but here they are only allowing essential workers to leave home... first responders, grocery folks etc... (in some parts of Canada people can and are getting fines for not social distancing).

however, your work is pretty vital...  if you *have * to make home visits, there are some social distancing things you can do I guess...like dont get within 6 feet of anyone, no hugs or handshakes,  wear a mask..(there are instructions online for even a bandana or scarf mask with hair elastics to hold on ears) wash your hands and dont touch your face...have alcohol wipes or sanitizer if you cant wash ... after touching anything

the virus is spread through breathing it in or touching it then transferring it through eyes nose mouth... so obsessive hand washing is now a virtue.

I dont remember what level of damage you had/have from your dance with the dragon... personally my immune system is awful and I always get viruses badly. Im pretty nervous about it all...but trying to be as informed and cautious as I can be.

I really hope your Dr or nurse will support you continuing to work from home.
please let us know

No way, Jaggles. Why should you go out there when everybody else is asked to stay in. I understand the importance of home visits, but who's doing that now? We're compromised. We're not even supposed to visit our next door neighbors. Under these circumstances, the phone, the computer, FaceTime, etc. should be enough, and far more than we had only a few years back. We sure didn't have that before.  Perhaps you can propose a new idea and get support from above, if not from your own doctor.

I'm sure glad to hear you are doing well. I agree that your body is likely back to normal and ready to keep performing miracles.

Be safe!! Wash your hands. Chill.

Hi Jaggles,

So good to hear from you! I'm glad you're doing well and doing your best to help others. It's a wise time to be cautious though. Your immune system function will not be forever compromised due to your past HCV or HBV. Back in the dark days of treatment, with Interferon and Ribavirin and whatever kitchen sink concoction they threw at us, we were very compromised. Once treatment was finished and our immune systems recovered (barring any auto immune disorder) things go back to normal and your immune system will provide the protections it should. Don't worry about that. Do continue to protect yourself, by all means possible during this pandemic. It's something everyone should be doing.

Hi all, its been a long time and I am Very well. Tig, I hope you are in usual fine fettle. Ive been very busy getting on with life and suddenly Covid 19 scares me. I am 2.5 years post treatment, treated with epclusa.

I now work in social care and they want me to start doing home visits again even though we were told to work from home virtually. I work with foster families supporting children in care.

i am challenging this decision as feel I am better staying home working from home as I have been unitl now. the Only protection they are offering me its gloves an apron. WTF ....

i had hep b in 1982 and liver collapsed then got c in 2016 so Im obviously wanting to take care of myself and worry that my immune system could not cope if I got Covid 19.

Can you advise please..is my immune system compromised forever? Should I be red rated high risk? I have emailed my former Hep nurse but know she will take ages to respond. They told Me at 2 year post treatment visit they would be discharging me but I have had nothing to confirm that.

Very scary times. I pray you are all safe and staying safe.

sending you love xxxx

Jaggles
