Hey Sailing Shoes! long time no see! I didn't even know they did stints in bile ducts, thought that was a heart procedure only.

Good to hear you are all vaxed up!

blessings, Iris

That sounds complicated but I'm sure glad to hear you are producing antibodies. I agree, "whatever it takes" is the way to go.

Smooth sailing. Don't forget your shoes!

I’m glad things are flowing again. You‘re the first person I’m familiar with that has had stents placed in the liver. They must be very small. I can’t imagine the complexity! I’m sure glad you were sleeping!

ERCP procedure this morning was a succes! The next one, and hopefully the last, is in three months. They have to replace the stents every three months because the ducts are so thin and the stents are so tiny that they clog up and need to be replaced until the bile flows without the stent. Meanwhile, bile is flowing through the stents again. Who knew?

Hi Tig ... Gall bladder is long gone. It is not included with a transplanted liver. I don't really know what's happening now. I feel fine, my numbers are fine. Then the after-action reports sound terrible, lots of stones and sludge and blockages. Tiny little bile ducts. Beats me. Every two months another ERCP procedure.

We're doing it again next week. I'll let you know.

Hello SS,

Thanks for the update. It sounds like things went great for years, I’m sorry to hear you had this problem. Fortunately it seems there’s a remedy, even though temporary. Can they remove the gall bladder, or is that something they don’t want to do at this stage? I wish you the very best!

Hi there, everybody. I am fully vaccinated, two shots of Moderna. I enrolled in a clinical trial and was tested for antibody response 18 days after the second shot. The result was a positive indication of Covid antibiodies. A confirmation test, spike protein, also came back positive and indicated a definite presence of Covid antibodies. Whew. Whoo wee.

All has been fine until last December when gGTP spiked and a MRI showed an obstructed bile duct. An ERCP procedure placed stents in the left and right ducts and got the bile flowing. However, nothing is simple, the stents were temporary and need to be repeatedly replaced. A third (!) ERCP is scheduled next week. I am almost 5 years post tx and this was the first problem. Guess it's payback for the trouble-free first four years. I am still on 2 mg tacrolimus twice a day.

Good luck RC.

Thanks for the link.Very informative video.  I was aware that only 17% of people on immune suppression drugs for solid organ transplant develop a response  from the vaccine. In other words- 83% of  people on immunosuppressive drugs who get the vaccine don't make antibodies against COVID-19.   Thats why when i had a choice of it her the Mederna  2 shot or the JJ one shot I chose the 2 shot, just seems like two are better than one!     I am going for blood test on Friday to see if I have responded to the Vaccine.     RC

This is an interesting article and short video. It provides insight into the immunocompromised transplant patient and the CoV-2 reinfection rate.
