I didn't reduce at all !!!  5,500 was just a rough estimate. And if you add in my twice a day Vit D that is another 650 ... Man that is a lot of pills.

And yea, I can't wait to get back out cycling with my mates.

Congrats on finishing that treatment. I know where you have been and I hope you have great success for completing the treatment. I'm still SRV and it's been 1.5 years now. All the best. Hopefully you don't have other things still hanging over your head like myself. Cheers

Paul,

OUTSTANDING!!! You have traveled a long, long road and from everything I've seen, you did it impressively. I only know a few that have managed to complete the 48 weeks of Victrelis with such determination.

What are your plans for the last injection/pill? Let us share your celebration and keep us updated. Good luck!

Hey Charlie,

It's been a long 48 weeks. Crawl to the finish line and all the best for SVR.

TeddyTrout- well done mate. Hope the cirrhosis regresses. Keep up the 6 monthly Ultrasounds and best wishes for the recovery. It takes at least a year. Cheers.

Congrats to all of you who made it up and down that rocky road. I just had my 6 months PCR results and they same I'm clear.. woot. My ultrasound says that Im still cirrhotic but at least its not getting worse. Doc tells me maybe 5 years before they see changes. Still very tired but doing better, the yearlong flat on the back thing takes a real long time to rebuild from. I collected a lot of Air Miles from doing the treatment so I spent 32 days on a vacation to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines this July 2 August 2.  It helps when your brother has lived there for 16 years and owns a bar. WOWOW lots of wild times and great stories and pictures to prove it. Temps are 78-92. The Crop-Over Festival holidays season was just wild and the guys and the gals even wilder with all night beach parties, seems like there was everything for everybody. I have booked 7 weeks this Jan-March to go again next year.  I have been busy renovating the back of the house with tearing down the old deck and renewing the finish on the back of the house and building a new 16 x 24 x deck. I hired a helper but I had to take a day off to rest today. For all of you that make it through the treatment I hope you take the time to smell the roses and enjoy whats left of life! Cheers.

TeddyTrout,

Noticed a couple of posts ago you talked about your new Nikon and all the wonderful accessories you bought for it.  Also your motor home and the new GPS you have to help your on your journeys.  These are forward thoughts and they point the way and give you comfort.  So glad you have these future toys and your plans to use them.  A bright future - you will be there to live it and record it.

I have similar future toys and plans - only with new skis and lightweight backpacking gear.  Gonna use them a for few more years at least.

Thinking positive healing thoughts for you and everyone in these circumstances we share.

Done.  Last pills about 10 min ago......48 darts (last one done 1 week ago) and too many Riba's and Vic's to count (though it is simple math) but glad this is behind me now and I can focus on starting the new adventure of lessening sx and getting back into decent physical condition.  Blood tests today including PCR, tests every 4 weeks now, with PCR at weeks 12 & 24 post tx.

Also, scheduled my MRI for 18 mo post-surgery check up for the liver carcinoma for the day after Christmas with more bloodwork 10 days before that.

One day at a time, each moment is now, each moment is a gift, and that's why we call it the present.

Hang in there Hepcat and DeRanger. I have been having mostly good days but easily fatigued.  I am having COPD problems when I lay down after climbing the stairs. I have seen the liver doc and did a CBC and a PCR and have heard back from the NP and all the good results so far I'm still UD, this is good, I was a break through during the 05 treatment. My CBC is slowly rebuilding and my platelets and Hemoglobin are normal  for the amount of time I have been off of treatment. Everything looking positive so far. My Ferritin has dropped from 700s to 155. So I may never need to blood let again as the Pyrophria may be cure as well. Next appointment is Feb 14 for a PCR. I have a Ultrasound booked and have seen the eye doctor, eyes are fine. I finally got out with the wife to see a movie (Thor) its been over a year since I have been able to do that. I'm hopping to get my shoulder surgery done in Dec. and be able to do supply teaching as a Industrial Arts / Carpentry during the early part of next year. With any luck by early summer I can start building houses again. Cheers everyone.

Last injection comes next Friday, Nov 22, last pills on following Friday the 29th,

Don't know what happens after that, other than monthly tests and VL tests in February and May.

Not sure when symptoms will dissipate. Just take it as it comes and try to do as much as I can, letting my body tell me what I can do.

I admire all you HCV tx warriors.

@1 days ago I guess was when I completely stopped treatment. I have gotten back a few hours each day of endurance before I collapse from Fatigue and breathing problems. The dry mouth is a bit better but I still have all this gunk build up that hydrates it self into this gobbie ugly tasting  Lumpy slime. The insomnia is a bit better but still there as you can see that I'm up at 4 AM instead of sleeping. I have the energy and desire ti do stuff around the house to get ready for winter and chores that I should have done two years ago. That is a on again off again thing. at best. I don't feel nausea at all.  deep cravings to eat and drink and smoke but I have had reasonable control over the drink and the smokes. I whease lot all the time. The collective crap plugs me up and I can usually spit out a oyster or two. but it really scares me as I don't remember this happening before with the other treatments. I have COPD, which I thought was mild but maybe it has gotten a lot worse. I guess I will need to go get tested . I have had my first blood test done with a PCR to see if I'm a brake through like I was last time. Don' have the results yet and the regular CBC's are normal I guess or they would have phoned me. I usually get rear wasted about 3-4 PM and have to lie in the prone position a lot. Falling asleep on and off. Heavy brain frogs still jumping around in my head. Angry but that could be  a little bit of me as well as the drugs I'm still pissing out. I feel a bit lost and confused and feeling guilty that I'm so lazy and tired still. I managed to go fill out my child protection check and to get the ball rolling on my RCMP background advance criminal check for working with children as a teacher.  Some convict has the same birthday as mine and he is out of prison and may have changed his name so I have to spend $125.00 more to get fingers printed . I have a set of prints I paid for that are 2 years old but I have to submit new ones every time I need a background check. So $140.00 all together and 3 hrs of my time, just to get a chance at substituting. supply teacher. I got the living room fan with lights hung up and working and started on the new bedroom door but will need to adjust a few things to make it fit. I finally had to stop and lay down.

I have been going nuts buying toys with my  collected Airmiles from all the drugs I bought so far this years . 39,608 miles. I bought a new DSLR Nikon d-5100 and spent a bunch of money buying add on,s for it like a 55 mm-300 mm lens and lens UV/ Skylens protective covers. Extra battery pack to clip on to the camera. a 64 GB flash card that can film 20 mins of high res movies. Nikon tripod a wide angle add on lens and a set of macro lens. that still give the auto focuses functions and a few other toys for it. I just bought a 7" RV-GPS from Grand McNally for a rear old 23' RV we bought. Very sound running shape with great mechanical and 6 new tires. The wife is having a bad time with life at work and I'm not much of a help ether. We talking about selling the house and moving to the cottage country and buying a house for cash and have some left for traveling . I can work as a carpenter fixing and making what ever the cottage owners want or maybe teach some.  Anyways I'm tired agian and am of to bed . hope you enjoyed the update.

Hi everyone,

I started triple therapy with vic. Aug 7/13 for 48wks. I figure my last shot will be around July9/14. I should have my 12wk results the week of Nov11/13. Hope its a UNDET.!!! The treatment sure hasn't been a picnic! I have no energy, itching and rashes, shortness of breath etc... I try to remember that this is only temporary, part of the course of being on treatment. And knowing how I feel now is only temporary and i look forward to how great I will feel at the end, hopefully for many years to come! If i focus on July/14 it is too overwhelming, so I try to stay in the present and take each day and sx as it comes. Its not easy, but we have to persevere! We have to hang in there, SVR is so worth it!!!  smile

Last shot will be celebrated on Nov. 27th! Then one more week to finish the Riba and Vic, woot!! After that I'll happily end that 126 pill weekly oral drug assault on my mind and body! That has been one of the most difficult parts of treatment, the constant drug intake, the constant reminders (alarms) going off 24 hours a day and of course the food requirements. I think I may buy a special hammer to use to silence that last alarm. I've used the sound of crickets as my alarm tone the entire time. I've learned to really dislike crickets now! Fish bait... lol! furious  Almost done sounds very good!

Thanks Dillo, my 24 week Incivik brothersmile for the advice about feeling better and giving me hope these last 6 months. My Np has also warned me about having patience about feeling better. She said it will be awhile too before I feel back to normal.Maybe 2 months maybe 4.

Whaaaaa! Boy did I underestimate the medication sx. I figured after the Incivik I would've felt better. Nope, it just turned into another kind of uncomfortable. Albeit less uncomfortable than in the Incivik phase gratefully.

I still do my pilates and walk most days, but I really want to run again with the wind in my (one) hair, lololol. patience.....patience......tick tock...tick tock....blankstare

and a BIG SVR to you too Bro! Just a few more weeks for you.

Hi Kellie,

Congrats on finishing the Interferon!  Now get those last Riba down and onward to SVR. Time to relax and let the poisons leave. Good luck with the VL tests to come. Cheers.

Whhoooooo - hoooooo - I did my last shot 24/24 last night.

I honestly feel & look  like I've been through the washing machine and dryer. How you 48 weekers do this I hopefully will never know - love you guys

My husband took an video of it. Is there anyway to upload videos here? It's hilarious, lol.  I'll take my last riba Sunday night, then labs Monday a.m.

This last week has been a challenge. My 76 year old dad came down with a heart ailment Monday (I'm his health advocate) and I took him to the er and orchestrated the emergency placement of a pacemaker. He came through the procedure with flying colors. Yay! Funny thing is he's up and running around while I've been flat on my back from all the stress and heat for 2 days now. My doc says to me is stay in bed for the next 3 days to rest. smile

I couldn't have done this w/o you guys - love ya!!!

Hey Mike

Congrats on making it to the EOT , it's really a accomplishment in itself.

With the treatment finished you can know look forward to healing and feeling better within a month or so, it takes time but your energy will come back and your head (mind set) will return with positive energy.

Hoping the best for you

Matt

Hi Mike,

Sorry to hear your latest troubles. You've had a rough ride. Congrats on getting to the end, and you deserve a great result. Yeah, basically, it's a year out of your life, but hopefully it will add many more.

It would be great to get a 12 week VL- can you ask?  Best wishes.

Last shot was Saturday night. Unfortunally I was in the hospital when I did it. Had to get a couple of mini-bags of vanco to battle a staff infection I got from a previous hospital stay last week from a IV. I take Riba now till the end of the week.

This is really has been long year. Possibly the worst time I ever had in my life. This time I didn't have much anger issues. I dealt with a lot depression. the down in the dumps feeling. A lot of crying and just feeling screwed in the head. I can't wait till my body clears the drugs so I can start feeling normal again.

i have high hopes that the 3rd time was a charm. I was UND at 8 weeks and I never was that the last 2 times. I talked to my nurse today and they won't check for the virus for 6 months. I remember being checked a month post treatment in the past. Long time to wait to if this works.  Anyways, that's it I'm done, never again.

Mike, your post sounds like something i would write. Exactly how i felt. I still will never do peg again. At end of TX for me i started feeling much better the following week. Especially my head. The time goes by fast at EOT. You deserve a pat on the back for doing 48 weeks. Its a very long time for us to be sick. But hopefully it will work.

Take care ~Bob
