Six month post tx blood draw has been done.  A full panel, and PCR of course.

The blood panel was done by the time I got home from the hospital.  Got home checked my e-mail and their the results were.  ALT 31 lowest it's ever been, HgB 16.6, WBC 8.8.

PCR takes about a week at least....the dice have been thrown, hoping for SVR.

HI Everyone. Well talked to doc about treatment. He said even though I have a very treatable genotypa 2B, he doesn't think I need it. He thinks I'm better off treating my rheumatoid arthritis for a while. I'm using Cimcia shots for it, injected myself for the first timme today. I expressed concern about the VL jumping up to 3,500,000 but he thinks I may not be able to tolerate the treatment because of the RA. So thank you for all the support I wish all well. Sadie

Glad to hear it Kaz.  Good for you. Your nurse has seemed to be on top of things all along, that's cool.

Sadie, I didn't have probs with dry/sore eyes before tx, but have had some since.  More probs lately since Spring has sprung and pollens are in the air.  I agree with Greg you should ask the doc/get checked.

Ty, just made myself a note to call my doc and ask about the VL thing tomorrow, he is usually in office on Tues.

Later, Randy

Hi Sadie, I am having the same problems with my eyes, apart from the infection. I have become extremely sensitive to light etc. They have become sore & fuzzy etc. Like Greg said, you should get them checked asap. I will be seeing my Doc tomorrow about it.

Hi sadie,

Sorry I can't advise you on this one, but I would get them checked out asap as the treatment for HepC can effect your eyes, so I would get them checked prior to beginnng treatment and discuss this with your medical team.
Good Luck,
Greg

Not on treatment yet. I see doc monday to discuss. Just wondering if anyone is having problems with their eyes. This may be totally unrelated but I don't know. My eyes have been watering and sometimes they seems to get infected sort of. Dry eyes and inflamation. Anyone else? Sadie

Hi Everybody,

I thought I'd post my exact test readings in case I was in my normal state of confusion and misinterpreted Randy's tests.  They are:

     RNA HPA Count -

   My Result     Standard Range

    <25                <=25-                 IU/mL

    <1.40             <=1.40-               LOG IU/mL

The area for flag (meaning positive) was no longer marked, as it was before I started tx.  My test results are online, but when the doctor called he said that I was still UND.  (These results are the last of the three tests so far.)  These sound the same as Randy's to me, but geez I could easily be wrong...  Take care everybody, tysmile

PS - I went in for the bloodwork, but of course it will be a couple of days before I hear anything.  I hope everyone is feeling well.

G'Day Randy, number1.gif

You little ripper! Congratulations handshake.gif from what Ty has said your UND, Cate and I are so happy for you, I can picture that big smile of yours just beaming good onya mate.
Good to hear that your going the distance to make sure this dragon is dead and buried.

As Jill pointrd out it's a worry that the doctor thanked you for reminding him of his job. I'm still confused as I'm used to getting the VL so hopefully you'll get that posted so we can congratulate you again. lol...Only two boxes to go. w00t.gif

Kaz, flowerpot.gif
Good to see your doing so well and best of luck with the new PCR you'll be fine I'm sure.

Ty,
Hey mate how ya doing? hope your bloods are good as well and you keep on improving as well as you have been, everyone is doing so well there is such a postive vibe in the forum.
Thinking of you all.

Hi Ron, I can really sympathise with the car alarm noise - during tx my tolerance for noise went right down.  My neighbours are having a new roof on and I am just so thankful I`ve finished tx or I`d be tearing my hair out with the banging and crashing.

Take it easy, Jill xxx

Hi Randy, that is excellent news!   biggrin Congrats to you! Good decision to go the distance with the tx I think.  Keep up the good work, you`re winning the battle!

Sounds like the appt went pretty well and at least he thanked you for reminding him how to do his job, lol.  Just shows again how valuable a forum like this is to us all.

Hi Kaz, good luck with your next PCR - I`m sure it will still be UND, you`re doing really well.

Also Ty, hope results of your new blood work are good.

All the best everyone, Love from Jill xxx

Hi again Randy,

I would be on the phone quick to the nurse if I wasn't sure. This is real important stuff for our peace of mind. 24 weeks is the SOC for types 2,3 and most are UND by 13 weeks.

We are in your corner supporting you. Your doing an awsome job with this.

I can only hope to be so patient when I go in next week.

(side note) A guy decided to work on his car alarm yesterday were I was working outside in the next yard over. He kept turning ON and OFF over and over. LOL. Needless to say I wanted to rip his head off, but I managed to get out of there without incident. LOL>.

Hi Randy,

My results are presented exactly like yours are and the doctor said that it meant that I was UND.  I don't know why they use two sets of numbers, but in the area where they flag for a problem it was blank.  It's good news for both of us!

My blood numbers were also very similiar to yours while I was on Tx, although they have gone up a bit since then.  I have another draw today, so we'll see if they continue to show improvement. ty

PS - I was in the same position as you as far as stoppping and chose to stay on until the end.  The research showed that the percentage risk of it returning just wasn't worth the worry.

Randy that result is confusing to me as well. But if your Doc is saying things are going really well and you can stop if you like, i would assume you're UND.

fwiw ...I agree stay on tx, it was the advice I was given from Dr. Everson.

Be well,

James

Perhaps the measure is from 43 to 1.63 million "in range"

The reference range, your range is x<43.

Sorry Randy, I dont have a clue.

I will have to ask, "what is my VL?" thats the only way I will know anything.

Glad to meet you Sadie, your bloodwork numbers refer to the viral load - the amount of HVC virus in your blood, I know that. I'll let someone else explain what it all means as I'm just learning myself.

Hey Kaz, I agree with Lesley in that you're really sounding good. Glad to hear they are going to do another VL test for you.

To everyone else - YAHOO! I finally got my lucky 13 week PCR results. First off, I'll start by letting you know that the doc appointment went well - he didn't have to call security to get me out of the office or anything and I did not use his necktie as a weapon. He told me I am doing very good, to which I asked some questions about things I learned on this forum. He said, "You've been doing some reading, are you in a hepc group?" (And that's a big complement to all of you for helping me the way you have - love you all for it) Anyway I told him I was in a HVC forum and that it was my understanding the 12 wk PCR plays a big role in knowing if the tx is working, etc. I explained that I was concerned because I had to call him about getting the bloodwork done and I just wanted to make sure he was on top of things from here on out. He assured me he was and kind of went on to another subject.

He showed me the results (below) and explained that I'm doing well enough that if I wanted to, I could opt to discontinue tx at this time - or I could stay on tx for the full 24 wks as planned. Having to make a quick decision, I kind of recalled this subject coming up here on the forum - and Brendan and some of the others suggesting to go all the way just to make sure. I equate it as don't stop shooting til the gun is empty. So good decision or not, I will continue to lock-n-load in hopes of distroying as many of the virus that are left as I can.

Oh, by the way - when the doc went to leave the room, he opened the door, turned, and with a smile said, "Thank you for reminding us about the bloodwork."

Okay, here's the shakedown - still not sure about what today's results are saying.
My original VL pre-tx PCR was 323000 H IU/mL with referance range: <43 and 5.51 H Log IU/mL with ref range:<1.63.

Today's PCR just says 'In range' <43 and 'ref range' <43 IU/mL. And below that 'in range' <1.63 and 'ref range' 1.63 H Log IU/mL. So I'm not sure exactly if this means, I'm undetected or that I still have 43 virus per mL. I think of all the questions after I leave the docs you know.

Doc also said my wbc is down a bit and will keep an eye on that (and gave me order for bloodwk in 30 days), here's the rest.

                      Low         Range
wbc                2.7          3.8-10.8 thousand/uL
rbc                 3.76         4.2-5.8 million/uL
hemoglobin   12.0         13.2-17.1 g/dL
hematocrit     35.4         38.5-50.0 %
RDW              15.4         11.0-15%
platelet         138           140-400 thous/uL
abs neutros  1002         1500-7800 cells/uL

Hi Kaz and everyone else in my hep family,

sorry I haven't been on but not feeling real peppy..... ha ha   Kaz I have to tell you I learned to ask for copies of everything, labwork, doctors notes, all of it when my mother first found out she had stage 4 lung cancer.   I always ask for a copy of my labs, just habit plus that way you can compare and see what is going on with your body, it is your body and your records so your nurse can get over it.  Sorry to sound harsh, no sleep, but my ex doctor, Dr. Grinch, acted very put out when I asked for my labs, I only have one set since I fell thru the cracks and he forgot to do them but that is old news.  ha ha I have to get over it, gosh, I don't remember being this moody.....lol  If this keeps up my husband says I will have to take down my peace sign posters and put up Oscar the Grouch ones.   ha ha ha

And way to go Elizabeth!!!!  WooooooooooHooooooo.........

Brendan - Thanks for the best wishes on my heart.  It did seem like when it rains, it pours for awhile there, but now it seems like I really am on the road to all around good health.  I am training with the weights a little bit and that always helps my head.  The itching is also easing up and I'm on a lower dose of antihistimines, so I'm not so brain fogged.  All in all, life is good...

    Thanks again, tysmile

Gidday Ron,

I see you've decided to accept the advice and wisdom of the people on the forum now, and hopefully without fanfare, because it's just help and the benefit of other peoples experience.

Unfortunately I see you still seem to think I just went off pushing unwanted advise onto you without so much as a friendly Hi.  I didn't/don't want to make anything of this but you have insisted, so in the first comments I made to you I started the message with "Gidday Everyone" and then to you specifically "Ron:-  Welcome to the Forum mate.  I see you have started tx and that's fantastic, hang in there, there are times when it will be hard and we are all here to help."  The next message wholly to you  commenced with "Gidday Ron"

I'm afraid I don't sugar coat my advice to anyone on this board, however they all seem to have survived and I'd like to think, have benefited.

I don't want to hassle someone who's just getting into tx over trivial stuff but don't want you to get the wrong impression.  If you don't want my advice or friendship that's your choice, but I did say Hi - just not like a yank - I'm an aussie mate, and it just doesn't come out like that:)

I truly do hope you are doin' OK, it's a tough time you're gonna be going through, and I know a little bit about how to cope with it.  I did see you were trying to keep away from "other drugs" while doin' tx, which is admirable mate, but we all need relief from the rotten sx the tx tosses up, and there's plenty of different forms that help us all through tx - without harming successful outcomes.  Have  a goodun'  thumbsup.gif

If you want to say this isn't "to subject" in regards to this threads' title.......I know.

Cheers,

Brendan.

Elizabeth!  I am so happy for you! biggrin I know that there were times when we were struggling to understand what this tx business was about and our heads were getting all over the place, but now we know.  We are stronger than we thought we were and we're ready to go forth and let the world know that we are alive and still kicking!  Congratulations on a job well done and yes, you are still a hero in my book! tysmile

Gidday Elizabeth,

w00t.gifparty.gif CONGRATULATIONS party.gifw00t.gif Hey 'bout time they got them results out to ya' but it's great news that all that hard work has payed off.  I hope the extra time waiting didn't get that imagination of yours going in the wrong direction, you've put those difficult time in tx behind you now - just like I have mine, and it's full steam ahead for both of us.

I hope the weather over there in the west has been mild with perhaps some sunshine still getting about.  Things seem to be cooling down for us, although we're not expecting much of a winter chill this dry season, athough it is getting down to 12 C in the morning and it's only early May.

Anyway, keep your chin up and I'll give you a race to the SVR counter come June:)  Along with James I'm sure it'll be another trifecta then.w00t.gif

Ty:-  Congrats on getting the big OK that alls well with ya' ticker mate, more good news that'll help you roll onto your own week 12's - hope you're doin Ok with recovery and having fun with the weights.thumbsup.gif

Cheers,

Brendan.

P.S.  I hope we see y'all over at the FNDC Friday for a few raspberrys while we all support all the current shooters in the SeedyBar.
