If I was Scotty from Star Trek, I'd be saying "I cannot control the rage!"

I had a really bad day where I could not control my agression and anger which turned into a fit of rage with my husband. I think I know my limits but not when they are chemically induced.

I raced out if the house car keys in hands. I stopped and sat on the front steps and started balling, knowing I was out if control and driving to where? I can't even run from myself! So I went back in the house, cried for over an hour, and laid down with some soothing music.

Just wish I could crawl into a hole and come out on the other side. I can't even tolerate myself

I am taking citalopram for anxiety/depression but I don'think it's working lately. So far I seem to keep it under control but this past week has been worse. I am more anxious and not depressed.

I started an AD before treatment as well, but I am surprised everyone is still here with me today!  I wasn't hostile or out of control, but I was just a b**** most days. I could have been alone during my time of treatment and been happy!!

So I am wondering if this is why for the past four or five weeks I have been intolerable. I didn't even think my meds could be making me "not so nice". My boyfriend last night said I went from Dr. Jeckle to Mr. Hyde...WTH????

The more I got to think about it he was right. Going to call my RN (who is heading my trial) and see what he has to say. I am thankful that my last meds will be in the end of June.....but what about from now till then...gotta do something.....don't want to be the monster in the house. cry

Hi Bouba, we have nutters too! That was south of Brisbane in a pretty rough suburb. Glad I'm off the road at the moment!

Here's some info about Mania during Hep C Treatment:

These meds can really mess with your brain chemistry!

http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/hep.23699/abstract

The Major Depression Inventory (MDI) was used to estimate the value of routine medical interviews in diagnosing major depression among patients receiving peginterferon alfa-2a and ribavirin therapy for chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection (n = 325). According to criteria from the MDI and Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV), 19 patients (6%) had major depression at baseline. An additional 114 (37%) developed depression while on HCV combination therapy, with baseline MDI score and female sex independently predicting the emergence of major depression during treatment in a multivariate analysis. Only 36 (32%) of the 114 patients developing major depression according to MDI/DSM-IV criteria were correctly diagnosed during routine medical interviews. The emergence of major depression frequently led to premature discontinuation of peginterferon/ribavirin therapy, and an on-treatment MDI score increment exceeding 30 points (i.e., a validated marker of idiopathic DSM-IV major depression) was correlated with impaired outcome of HCV therapy (P = 0.02). This difference was even more pronounced among patients with an on-treatment increase in MDI score greater than 35 points (P = 0.003). Conclusion: We conclude that (1) depressive symptoms among patients undergoing HCV therapy are commonly overlooked by routine clinical interviews, (2) the emergence of depression compromises the outcome of HCV therapy, and (3) the MDI scale may be useful in identifying patients at risk for treatment-induced depression.
