JoAnne, it's nothing special, just a topical hydrocortisone. It's sold as 'Eleuphrat' here, made by MSD. Make sure you get the 0.05% stuff, and use it sparingly. Cheers.

The rash went away after a extreme flare up the week after I finished Invicek.
Now at 20 weeks it has reappeared and it itches. Not bad as while on Invicek. Glad Brad mentioned it came back after Invicek.
I was worried this meant the med had stopped working.
Malcomb, I am going to mention the name of the onimonent
You are using to my NP.
You hang in there Malcomb!!!

After being rash-free for 26 weeks, I have developed some small itchy lesions on my back and butt. These disappear after 2 applications on betamethasone ointment. I guess this is a Riba rash, but it's taken a long time to appear. I have also developed numbness and tingling in the hands ? peripheral neuropathy. My doc accepts this as part of Rx. Sigh.

I get the itch and rashes when I get warm and sweat in cooler temps. And I haven't started treatment yet. I wonder if this going to be an issue if and when I start treatment.

Sorry for the high-jack.

For me the itch got worse, or at least was just as bad after the Incivek.

I'm sure it was the Ribavirin, and it slowly built up right to the end, and a little past.

My incivek rash was larger, under the skin, red blotches, though I didn't get it too bad.  These reddish purple areas took about 3 to 4 months for the color to go away completely.

The Riba was smaller, rough, sort itch all over, stuff.

Nothing much helped,  except staying out of the sun, staying hydrated, and antihistamines.

Hang in there...

Brad

I didn't itch while on Incivek (except for my backside). Since I stopped Incivek I itch like crazy! I rub lotion on all over about 3-4 times a day now. It's annoying, but I'd much rather deal with this than the rectal problems from incivek. Do your best not to scratch, because it makes things worse. Good news for me: my energy levels are definitely going up! I also feel pretty good in general.

Happy Monday,
I've been on treatment for less than a week and developed the rash. It seems to fly around my body. Last night I had my husband put benedryll lotion all over my body and this allowed me to sleep. i called my doc and he'll be in tomorrow to prescribe something. I don't want to quit treatement so I'm going to bear with it unless doc makes me quit.

I had to stop Incivek after 8 weeks due to the rash. It was so bad I had to ice down my knees and elbows to sleep. After 3 days the rash was healing, but the itch was essentially gone.

Ditto. I got some relief from desitine and aquaphor. Also, drinking water helped me with almost ever side effect. My rash got a little worse after stopping but that only lasted maybe a week, then it got better kind of quickly.

Tim, I came across information that this tingling/prikling sensation that I describe as itch is due to the damage of the nerve endings. Someone posted before that Vitamin B12 has shown improvement within a week.( I hav eto find that post, it was a few other things). Also, Ive read that anemia increases itchiness as well, which I developed recently. But the most concerning thing is that people say that the itch becomes worse AFTER stopping Incivek, like a withdrawal effect...wow how freaking bad can it possibly get?

You know, I have noticed a distinct increase in new rash sites with myself, in the last week or two; very unsettling if this trend continues...

The B-12 is reported to benefit in healing periphral nerve damage, I've been taking the following B-12 product for about six months:

Jarrow Formulas, Methyl B-12, 5000 mcg

...for the periphral neuropathy in my feet.   I don't expect any dramatic results, as it may be possible that the periphral neuropathy is caused by Cryoglobulinemia, which is a condition that is common in HCV patients .

 Margo,

Yes, controlling one's urge to scratch the itch is the biggest challange for us mortals, here on Earth.  confuse

Besides the horrible itching, I was granted a rash on top! Mild, patch like appearance on my upper arms, chest and upper back. That's just what I needed. Miserable then ever, overdosed myself on hydrozyzine and Benadryl I'm trying to fall asleep or I'll take my skin off. I thing god is trying my Tolerence...
