Thanks, Judy. I read about your experience the other night. I hate that kind of news. I hope you and the daughter are both OK, and that this sort of thing never happens again. Twice is enough. Be tough and get to the end. Alan

Thanks, everyone. I just got an email from my nurse practitioner to report that the viral load on the 36-week, end-of-treatment labs was UND. She also reports that all the regular counts look great. But that was what she said when the hematocrit was 30.5 and hemoglobin was 9 and I was barely able to go up a flight of stairs. She will send the complete report so I can add it to my spreadsheet. This is starting to get exciting. The plan calls for labs in three more weeks (four weeks post treatment) to see that the counts are truly coming back to normal, then a complete set of labs at 6 months out for SVR.

Smooth sailing to all my buddies. Keep kicking virus butt.

Alan

Thanks, Meghan. I'll be thinking of you this evening. You make a good point about accelerating the "purge" by sweating and drinking extra water. We are still having fairly hot weather here, and I bet I could use that to sweat out some poison. Combine it with a good workout at the Y (sadly no sauna or steam room) and this should move the ribavirin along as fast as possible. You should get ready for a good, old fashioned flood of emotion after those last pills. The familiy will rally, friends will post tons of congrats on FB, co-workers will stop by, etc. I was nearly overwhelmed by the volume of good stuff. I have done my end of treatment labs, and when I asked my vampire if I could leave my sharps there, his face lit up. He knew right away what that meant. We had a great time chatting about our Monday mornings together. Finishing this process is really a very big deal. Eat it up. Alan

Yay!!!  I finish tomorrow night and will be celebrating with family this weekend am also going to the spa on Friday and plan on hangin out in the steam room sweating out as much of the meds as I can while constantly drinking water to pee them out too....hahaha.  Scientifically speaking I don't know if that will really make a difference but it makes me feel like it will and perception is reality sometimes.

Aloha and Congrats!!

Meghan

Thanks To all of you for the kind thoughts. What a fine extended family I have. For those of you who may be thinking "Well, he's down the road. Won't have to listen to his banter any more" guess again. This is the pay it back stage. The years ahead are going to see more and more of us pursuing treatment of some kind. Thousands of new cases are just around the corner. To disappear now, after all the help I got from this forum, would be rude. I expect I'll hang out in New Members and On Treatment, trying to help. I hope the Class of 2011-2012 will stick together and support the newbies as they arrive. I still remember clearly how scared and confused I was during my first four weeks. Thanks again, my friends. You are all my heroes. Alan

Well ya' did it!  Quite the haul, eh?

I expect you'll start ramping up your riding and other activities soon.

If you're like me, in 3 months you'll be stronger than when you started TX.  I'm still amazed at the energy that has returned...it feels almost endless...

I'll be watching for your SVR report.

Yea Alan!! I am sooo happy for you! Just remember to take it easy and don't over do--speaking from experience. Like don't plan any cross country car trips 10 days after stopping tx--makes you a little tired and cranky. Hope you start feeling better ASAP!
Big Hugs!

Oh yeah!  Time for Alan to start detox.  I didn't notice much during week 1 with the Inteferon disappearing.  I'm sleeping a little less (which is more like pre TX).  I still have up and down days (and hours) but both the ups and downs are a little bit better than last week's so that's good.  I think I just have to wait on more Riba detox.  Best I could find (wikipedia), the half life on the Riba is 12 days so it will take a couple months to get close to fully purged.  I think we'll feel the reverse ramp-up of our first four weeks of TX.

Warning- the Riba is still a water hog on the way back down.  So stay hydrated as always to feel your best.

First post in this area. The last ribavirin just went down the hatch. Didn't hurt a bit. But I am having a little emotional moment, watching the Olympic opening, supper done, finished with treatment. Took next week off work to bask in the warm glow and await the return of feeling good. Ah, free at last. The medicine bag now occupies a place on my bedroom shelf, in view but out of the way. EOT labs on Monday. These are happy days. Alan
