Call your doc  immediately and tell them you are struggling with depression.  You've come to far to give up all that hard work.  But if you even mildy depressed the next ten weeks will seem like ten years or centuries to get through.  It's not you, it's the TX drugs messing with your brain chemistry and stealing your will...for anything.  The smallest daily tasks are a trial and your whole mindset starts asking why bother.

You need to have something change, the sooner the better.  Please write back and tell us what your doc tells you.

All the Best,  Dave

(My last 6 weeks were a bear, depression wise.  I rode it out thinking I was almost done, that was a looonnng 6 weeks.  Guess I was too dumb, stubborn, or more likely apathetic because of the depression to be smart enough to call my doc and deal with it)

Get better Jimmy

Hi Jimmy and welcome smile

It seems that some patients can increase their methadone dosage while on treatment and as this is the problem that is causing you to consider quitting the tx, then it takes priority. Have a word with your doc about how you're struggling and explain how you feel.

I agree with Brad that this is not the time to be tackling drug dependency issues and focusing on getting through tx is the main concern right now!

Taken from the link below:

If during treatment patients felt like they were in withdrawal it was recommended that their methadone dose be increased. In fact, 42% of the patients had an increase of 10mg in their methadone therapy during treatment for hepatitis C

Hope this helps aww

Yeah, don't quit your TX now.  You got the incivek part done, that's the worst.

I'm no doctor, but from what I've read, your odds of SVR are pretty lousy if you quit this soon.

Maybe your doc will allow a small increase in your Methadone maintanence dose.  Considering what a bitch TX is, I would wait to tackle the dependency thing.  You got enough to deal with.

My motto was "TX first...everything else will have to wait!" Well, things did wait, and after TX, I came back stronger than ever.  Four months later I find myself looking for things to fix, do, and deal with. You'll get there.

Hang tough, brother!

Brad

Jimmy u have come too far to give up.
Are u taking anything for depression?
Methadone causes fatigue right?
Have u ever tried 12 step recovery program?
No matter what please hang in there. Call your doctor and see
If they have any suggestions. I take 10 mg of lexapro daily.
Lexapro slows me down a little which helps me cause RIBA
Wakes me up. It balanced everything.
U will start feeling better in few days. I have had low spots and they pass.
Turn on some good music find a project to do to get ur mind off your worries. Even if it's....
Painting a room, repairing things around the house:)
Trust me u will have good days and bad days but remember the goal... Why stop now u
Have come too far.
Also my doc told me medicine is more potent on Invicek so maybe u do t feel
The ease of methadone since stopping Invicek.
Call ur doc or nurse and hang in u r worth it
Joanne

Hi, googled it and got a medical study or two. http://www.drugpolicy.org/docUploads/meth437.pdf. But it does not neccearrily address your issues. Looks like there isn't alot of data on this combo at least as far as side effects or patient input on the side effects

Jimmy,

Welcome to the hepcfriends forum, you've come to the right place, there is a lot of knowledgeable, sensitive and caring people here that are going though the same (or similar) hell that you are; please make yourself at home.

Please be strong and get your treatment completely finished, I was forced to quit last week after getting over halfway done- real bummer.   I can't advise you on methadone or anti-depressants, but surely one of our members here can.

We are here to help you as we have helped one another, it's the "strength in numbers" concept.

I have been on the triple drug therapy for 3 months & 1 week. Finished Incivek 2 weeks ago. Was hoping to start feeling somewhat better fter finishing the Incivek, but that hasnt happened. After 6 weeks of treatment, the blood work showed no sign of the virus. Doctor advised I finish rest of treatment. I am also taking 90 mil of Methadone daily. Since starting the treatment, it has dramatically effected the affectiveness of the methadone. It seems like the treatment keeps the methadone from working.I have somehow kept my job despite missing two days a week and really struggling to get thru the days i do work. i am so tired of feeling the way that i feel. i stay depressed. i feel worthless. i just want to feel normal again. i know i should finish the treatment, but cant help but wonder what the odds of relapse are if i didnt finish it. Any advice about methadone or depression will be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

jimmy jam
