I am six months out from my last shot as of a few days ago. I have my liver test appointment in ten days to see if I have achieved SVR, wish me luck!

I think it depends on your level of progression of the disease. Im Tx naive and no liver damage. This might play a huge part in the decision of SVR @ 12 weeks post tx. There have been many studies on relapse after the 12 week test and the chances are very slim. Not trying to start a debate over it as everyone is different and i wish everyone SVR.I took my test at 4 1/2 months post tx not right @ 3 months.

I'll be testing at 12 and 24 (1 week post tx right now) After that I'll feel confident to use the term SVR, if it applies to me, as will my doctor. Right now I'll UND and feeling stronger daily. my twocents.gif

Hi jrc, A number of papers and articles have been published, suggesting that VL undet. at 12 weeks should be taken as 'the new SVR'. 'Gold Standard' implies worldwide, widespread acceptance of a concept, which is not the case here. As Alan said, it is immaterial as your SVR is between you and your doctor. Congrats.

OK, let's just agree to disagree. JRC, if your doctor tells you that you are SVR at 12 weeks post, then you are. Who cares? You are done with treatment, clear of the virus, have the best doctor in the world, and an excellent chance at a wonderful life. I, on the other hand, will not have SVR until 24 weeks post treatment. That is fine with me. Fact is, we'll both be sitting on our porches on hot Summer days 20 years from now, sipping iced tea, and trying to remember how it was on treatment. Mission accomplished. Being classified SVR can happen at any point. I don't care when. Alan

If VL 24 weeks after Rx ends is undetected, we have SVR. <1% of patients relapse after this time. There has been a push for undet. at 12 weeks to be accepted as SVR, but this has not been widely accepted.

12 weeks post tx is indeed the gold standard if und = SVR  98.9% of people dont relapse if und 12 weeks post tx  I challenge you to show otherwise, my hepc dr is one of the best in houston which is indeed one of the biggest city in the world

Just a note:   all dentists use "universal precautions" to protect tnemselves, employees & patients from bloodborne pathogens; many jurisdictions do not have a legal requirement to report such conditions, I suspect that the information that the dentist is collecting is simply for his/her internal use.
