Well, I didn't drown, but my arms and legs felt like lead, and I was gasping for air, and I could only do one length at a time, not even a full lap, but I felt alive.

I just finished up my 12 week clinical trial Friday.  My last shot was the week before, and my last 7977 and riba were Friday morning.  I have no idea yet how my results are, and will probably not find out for a month or so, when all participants finish, but I have to say that this morning I fell the best I have in the last 3 months.  I was fortunate to have very few side effects during treatment,  only missed 2 days of work, in the first two weeks, but I felt really crappy and tired almost every day, and if my treatment had been any longer that 12 weeks I might have reconsidered If I really wanted to see it through.

I've had a great appetite, my hair stayed in, and last Saturday I was able to watch my Gators kick butt on LSU.  I had been worried about climbing up to my seats, but that turned out to be no problem.  All during my treatmen I've remained as active a possible, bowling a couple of nights a week and biking to work when the weather allowed (an electiric bike).  I have no trouble sleeping, no body pain, and nothing to complain about for a while.  One thing I did do during my treatmen was smoke marijuana regularly, and I mean daily, just as I have for the last 46 years.  My treatment team was aware of this, and I think they found it to be quite interesting, as I had fewer problems than most of the other participants.  I have also had this disease longer than most, as I contracted it as a medic in Viet Nam in 1969 or 70.  I never had any symptoms other than fatigue, and that only started last year, and it is what prompted me to pursue a cure.

Comparing how I feel today against how I've felt the last 12 Mondays is like night and day.  I'm headed to the club today to swim a few laps at noon, I think that will be a better gauge as to how I'm doing energy wise.  I haven't been there in the last 3 months because it just seemed like too much work.

Just had to tell some people who care.  I feel like celebrating.
