I can only speak to what our doctors and nurses have told my husband.  They have adviced that either tylenol or advil is fine to take at any time as long as it is within what is recommended on the bottle.

My husband prefers advil, but our nurse said that there is no problem with taking tylenol.

Please understand that I am not qualified to advise you on this question. I can, however, tell you what my doctor and nurse practitioner told me many times. They told me to use Tylenol. The n-seds, like aspirin and perhaps ibuprofen are bad for you, too. So what I did was take half as much Tylenol as the directions called for, and half as often. I got relief from my flu and fever feelings without having to worry about the over the counter remedy I was using. My professionals were very conservative about using any drugs or supplements during treatment. I had to stop or modify everything I was taking. As soon as the Incivek portion of my treatment was complete, these things began to creep back into my allow list. Alan.

This morning I went to see a doctor for my never ending cough. She told me that Tylenol that I am taking for pain management is very bad because acetaminophens are processed by liver.

She said I should take Aleve  (naproxen) because Aleve is processed by kidneys.

The doctor who told me this was not my hep c regular treating doctor, but a walk-in clinic doctor.

My reg treating doc told me to avoid ibuprofen but nothing about acetaminophens or naproxen, so I am confused.

I decided to post this question here because I am treated in another country and I communicate with my doctor via email and sometimes it takes days to receive an answer.

Thank you for all the knowledge and support. For me this forum is a life saver.
