How about a Rooster with a Dragon's tail? Lots of colorful scales. The possibilities are endless. Who's the artist? Get busy drawing! No stick figures either, lol!  smile

I think the attitude change has already begun. I've told my girlfriend and a close friend so far, who are both in the same generation as me and weren't as stigmatized by it. My girlfriend simply referred to it as a treatable infection: "Everyone gets infections, Eric. You're making it a really big deal." On the other hand, my parents immediately started recalling people they've known who are/were infected. One of my father's friends succumbed to it about 13-14 years ago unfortunately, so it holds a sad place in his heart.

Still, for me a dragon tat would signify a big turning point in my life. I've always felt healthy and untouchable. The dragon showed me how fragile life can be. My life took an immediate nose dive when I was diagnosed and I've been slowly climbing back up since then (many thanks to you folks!). Or maybe I'm just being overdramatic? :)

In my case, they tell a story that has dimmed, but remind me of days never to be forgotten. Might be nice to get some fresh ink for this wonderous achievement!

(Right after Christmas and New Years, if there is anything left. It's looking doubtful!)

Me too Scruffy and Jimmy - pretty much done. Any place I wanted ink has ink. Once my back was completed, I said that was it and I have stuck to that 5 years ago. BUT I do have the perogative to change my mind lol. As Jimmy mentioned I do toy with the idea now and then. Hmmmmmm

I'm pretty much done getting ink. I did win a trophy in a tat contest bike week in Daytona. Best black and grey. I didn't win because of what the tat was I won for where the tat was :p piss ants.

That's an interesting idea, combining the two. I had a Celtic dragon avatar that one of our members used for a chest piece, looked good. I always wanted to have a dragon done on the inside of my forearms, but never made it to Hong Kong. I wanted them done there by an old school artist. Maybe in another life... The price is significantly higher now! Think I'll use the money to pay bills. hmm

I have toyed with the idea of adding more Ink.

I got mine a long time ago. Right Forearm is a guy on an old school chopper. Elbow to wrist. Got that one in Amsterdam at Hanky Panky.

Left Forearm two 7" Dragons kind of facing each other separated by a tribal doohicky.  The doohicky was also inked in Amsterdam, the two Dragons here in Texas.

Upper Arms some old Prison Work.

Nawww that's quite enough for me. My line of work keeps me in long sleeves even in the hot Houston Summers. 

While toying around I was thinking about having successfully fed The Dragon Harvoni. I thought that could be worked into a nice theme.

You will probably remember like I do, how many years ago, the tattoo artists would just unscrew the jar of ink, dip the needle in and then screw the cap back on it and reuse it again and again. Back then they did not pour ink into those little plastic tubes and throw them out after your session. Glad to see the progress...sanitary conditions and universal precautions that are used today in most reputable shops. 

What a coincidence. I've always contemplated getting a tattoo and wanted to get a dragon (I was also born in the year of the dragon as well). I was half thinking that perhaps I could get a tattoo once I am treated...a way to commemorate what had happened. I could modify my original plan of getting a dragno, and instead get one of a dragon being slayed!

Interesting to say the least.

I spent the 80's and early 90's in Hollywood, CA and fully embraced the carefree life. I do not regret it at all as it made me the gal I am today. Took a long time to like her but today I do. The folks I did drugs with from that period I have kept in touch with as all of us are clean/sober now TYG (thank you God). Those that have HCV, we all have different genotypes. And the majority of us that all got tattooed by the same person out of their home in CA, either don't have it or are the same people mentioned above. Odd. And as we have all discussed in numerous threads here, does not matter how we got it, but that we are cured or are in the process. And for that, I am grateful.

Yes, a rooster tattoo for Jimmy. 

Headed to TX later today (not to see Jimmy) but for work. Have a good week all.

Hi all

When I was on treatment I had a small tattoo on my finger removed. It took about 2 min. and healed like it was never there. The laser breaks up the ink and your body removes it. That week while it was healing I had to get neupogen along with the epogen weekly shot. The healing from getting the tat removed  plus the  treatment must have taxed my system. From then on until the end of treatment I had to get both shots. Even with my drug use years and years ago my Doc said most likely my hep c was from the tattoos.

Wendy,

I got several tatts in the 70's and then the work that probably infected me in 80-81. A bunch of us all sat and had work by the same guy over a period of weeks. I lost touch with all those people, but know 80% ended up with HCV (on average). Those days were a lot more carefree and these diseases were relatively unknown. Many people contracted HIV at the same time. Very bizarre, the increased incidence of new viruses. Live and learn... 

You mentioned the Year of the Dragon. It got me to thinking, so I checked what 2017 will be. I know you're familiar with Jimmy and his Rooster. Talk about wild, it's going to be the Year of the Rooster! It's meant to be smile

Maybe a Rooster tattoo is a good momento!

The dragon also goes along with martial arts and all things Chinese. Remember Bruce Lee's first movie was "Enter the dragon"

My luck i would get cured of this with 3 years of treatment under my belt, decide to get a tatoo and get re-infected. So for me i say no way!!

Perhaps, a brain wandering around a maze would symbolize the fog of treatment.  I say go for it.  Make sure you see them unwrap the fresh needles in ffront of you.  You wouldn't want to catch a second genotype.  smile

I too was thinking of getting a tatt soon but will stay with the dragon slaying theme. Hep C is known as the dragon from Chinese medicine I believe. We are all out to slay the same monster and it's already identified as a dragon so I'll stick with that.

I say go with the tattoo, I think a monkeys butt with flames comming out the hole woulds fit you perfectly and only us "hepseees" that have been on Incivek would undrestand.

so, new friends, i think i'll call us "hep-c's", (pronounced hep-sees).  i thought about "heppers" but that is too close to "heffers" and i don't wanna offend anyone, at least not outright or not until we get to know each other a little bit better.

i am thinking that now would be a great time for me to get that tattoo that i always wanted?  i mean, wtf, i'm gonna be drugged to the 9's, right? (i can't be the only one who calculated that i have to ingest 504 incivek pills and 5040 grams of fat in the next 90 days?).

i designed one, based on my love for martial arts, here it is:

 

the circle is called enso: it symbolizes absolute enlightenment, strength, elegance, the universe, and the void

the three symbols in the middle are kanji: the adopted logographic chinese characters that are used in the modern japanese writing system

from the top down, the symbols mean: love, inner strength, happiness

all of these have meaning to me, this is not a spur of the moment decision, and it would be my first and likely only tattoo. 

 

ok....let me have it!
