Back from doctor. Resume RIBA at 200 per day and start procrit. If things look good in a couple of days she'll bump me to 400 and then 600.

Thank you all for your responses! It's nice to have others to "talk" to.

They dropped my rib down to 600 from 1400 in two weeks and hemo dropped still till it hit 74, I had just finally started the Vic after 9 weeks of only peg and rib, stopped treatment for 5 days put me for a transfussion two bags and know I am on eprex weekly, at week 26 right know and probably ready for another transfussion blood down again to 84, so you see we are all different on this forum but have one common spirit and that is to help each other get through this treatment and beat the dragon

He did discuss it with the GI doc on call and GI doc said stop. My doc was not on call this weekend... Hopefully the two day stop won't impact treatment. I will talk to my doc tomorrow.

Hi Kathi,

This can be a problem as many ER doctors have little knowledge or understanding of HCV treatment. I was told only to go to the ER at the Hospital attached to my Hepatology Clinic and tell them I was on HCV Rx. There was always a Consultant Hepatologist or Senior Registrar on call for such situations. As Ribavirin has a long half-life, it's probably OK, but ask your doctor what to do if the same situation arises.

That is what I would be worried about....the ER doctor not knowing what he is talking about.  From the times we have dealt with the ER doctors, they haven't been very good.  So be careful.  Does you own doctor have an emergency number you can call?

Mine was reduced to 600 at 9.5 after 4 weeks below 10. The next week, it dropped to 9.4, and came up to 10 the next week. So, it took two weeks to change direction. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it, but I'm not a doctor.

A little freaked out because I went to the er yesterday. My hgb dropped to 8.6 and they told me to stop taking RIBA and see my hep dr. On Monday. My doc had already reduced my RIBA too 600 on Thursday because my hgb had dropped to 9.2. Unfortunately it continued to drop. I know from reading the forums that hgb of 8.6 is not unusual, I am just hoping that this 2 day stop won't impact my treatment!!!
