That`s great news!  Astonishing that it`s taken so long, it`s been available at various major hospitals over here in the UK for several years!

At last, why in the world did it take this long?

The unofficial word was that the test was so easy to do and read that the Doctors could not figure out how to charge a there normal (high) rates because the patients could read the display at the same time as the technician versus what happens during a normal biopsy procedure which requires a whole lot people and more expense.

Whatever the reason, we very much welcome Fibroscan in the US,, now I likely won't get one  in Denmark when I go on holiday.

Finally! It's a great test, probably as reliable as biopsy for F0-1 and F3-4 and F4. As it's non-invasive, it can be used as a followup.  The grey area is from F2 to F3.  It does not give any info on inflammation, so biopsy still has advantages.

False high readings can be seen in fatty livers and in a non-fasting state.

We've had it here since 2008. Cheers.

Very interesting Bob...There was a possiblity that I would need a liver biopsy before starting treatment.  I asked if I could have a FibroScan in lieu of a needle biopsy - I was told no because it was not aprroved.  That was last week...wow! Cool beans...

Interesting. Even-though I'm likely done with any further tx, I wonder what the probabilities would be, of me talking my gastro doc into doing a scan, just for informational purposes.     -?

in USA now? it has been approved a long time ago in EU i think?

58 yo..Relapsed in 99 and again in 2004. Started triple therapy with Victrelis July 22,2012.  genotype 1a. week 8,12,16,24 VL Undetectable..E.O.T -- 6-22-2013,,,EOT + 24., UND. 

SVR !!!
