I got 6 pounds weight during my first 3 month treatment. I guess the reason is incivek with 20mg fat food. I seldom moving because I felt too tired. But I had to eat 20mg fat food with incivek twice per day

i have lost 13 pounds in first 3months of therapy (and i was already skinny guy. pre tx just on diet in 6months lost another 10pounds)...which was mistake, but my previous hepa told me "diet"

now i have "stabilised" @ ultra low (for my height) 145 pounds (my normal should be 163)

i did use marijuana via vaporiser to invoke munchies at one point and it did work...but i was scared that THC might (since there are receptors in liver too) lessen chance of SVR so i have stopped. It did helped also on mood too tho (well i guess thats why majority of people are using it).

I have asked my doc shall i go for high calorie supplemental drinks (like Ensure), but she told me to eat more "unhealthy" food, like steaks etc,...thing is, seems interferon is blocking my taste receptors, everyting tastes like cardboard sometimes.

heard lots of stories how people gained weight with Incivek (no wonder since it's taken with 20g of pure fat per day)

i can't wait for EOT to return my normal weight. It's really not that fun to be this skinny (hurts when u rest on your bones instead muscles)

Hi Carol,

That`s a lot of weight to lose in 10 weeks and it must be a worry for you. � I lost about a stone by the end of my 24 weeks of tx because I had very little appetite, and I did the same as JoAnne, just had whatever I could fancy, which changed pretty much week by week.�

Mix him anything he likes.
1st time on tx I lost lots of weight.
When he feels like eating encourage him
To eat extra. If I wanted pie I ate it.
Strange, on triple tx I gained weight
Cause I got use to eating 29g of fat w Invicek.
How much longer does he have Carolina??

I drink those protein shakes..You know those ones for meal replacement or even the ones for weightlifters... I think they are about the same, and they have alot of protein, vitiams and minerals..

My husband has already lost 15 pounds after 10 weeks of treatment.  He was already thin before treatment and had a diffcult time gaining weight.

Does anyone know of any products he can take to help him gain weight?

Husband has HCV.  Viral load @ start of treatment was 1,600,000.  Genotype 2.

Treatment includes Ribavirin pills and Peginterferon injections for 24 weeks.

UND at 4 weeks, 12 weeks and EOT plus 1.5 weeks and 3 months.

He has 13 more weeks.  I am going to buy him Ensure shakes tomorrow.  I went out tonight and bought him treats, which he likes to eat at night.  I think I will just encourage him to eat more.
