Update on Husband's Treatment After 16 Shots

Hi Carol, thanks for the update, sounds like all`s going pretty smoothly for you husband now.  So it was Gilbert's Syndrome that was behind his raised bilirubin levels then, well at least he knows now what`s been causing it, and reassuring too that it`s nothing to worry about.  And it`s good to hear the Prilosec is helping with the heartburn.

All in all he`s doing well, with your support of course!  Not too much longer now...best of luck with the rest of his treatment, and thanks for keeping us posted!  smile

Husband was a rapid responder by being undetectable at Weeks 4 and 12, so we are really happy about that.  All of his white and red blood counts

have stabilized, so he never needed to go on the Neupogen.  His slightly elevated bilirubin levels were found out to be the result of him having

Gilbert's Syndrome, which is a harmless condition one is born with in which bilirubin levels will usually always be slightly elevated.  He only has

8 more shots to his 24 week treatment since he is Genotype 2.

Only hardships he has faced so far include him losing 20 pounds, which has stabilized now and is not so much a problem.  He also developed worse heartburn than

before the treatment, but it is getting better now that he takes 2 pills of Prilosec daily.

He has suffered some fatigue at times, and he can be a bit more moody and irritable at times, but nothing that we could not manage together.
