Hi ucbgal
All the time I test Urate. It was 300  [150--400 umol/L] prior to treatment.  I started my treatment from Feb 5th.  Blood test result shows me Urate is 484 on 19 Feb. 498 on 1 Mar. Right now it is 416. My doc never care about it.

lucy,

do you happen to know your uric acid level prior to treatment and current reading? also did you have the ankle swelling as well? it's a nightmare to say the least.

     thanks for the encouraging words.

Hi Sandra,

Your ALT and AST have dropped, which is great. Many patients don't ever drop to the normal range, but that is no big deal. Peg. itself causes elevation of enzymes. I was undet. from week 8 to EOT and 12weeks post, but my enzymes are about the same as yours.

Uric acid elevation is also common on Rx. If it gets high enough, your doctor will give you some Rx. Don't worry about it. The iron indices are also elevated during Rx. so relax.

The only important result is the Undet!!

great news, you are undetected! My uric acid has been high since I started my treatment. My doc told me that is due to medication.

keep fighting

Wow..so glad you are already undetected! Unless I'm reading your post incorrectly. .it seems that your alt and ast are lower now...which is good.

hope everyone is having a pain-free evening.

went to drs. yesterday re side effect management and test results. i'm still confused about them. started w/ a 3.5 uric acid and is now6.6! i don't have gout it's the meds he said.he won't give me gout meds and am treating w/asparugus,lemon,ginger,parsley,ice , tylenol, black cherry juice and compression hose. i never had this problem except when healing from foot surgery and it cleared naturally.

my viral load started at 1.2million,day 9 was 170, and day17 und.! yippee... here's the bad;ast/alt. started at 122/195,day9,62/89,day17,63/79.also iron saturation. started at 83%,day9,49%,andday17,63%. he told me not to worry ,the #'s go up and they go down. i'm not sure i should be happy w/the liver enzymes and uric acid!!!!

yesterday my vl wasn't in and he told me it over the phone today. of course i was so happy i forgot to ask the ? 's. how can i be und but have elevated ast/alt and higher uric? any insight would be greatly appreciated.
