I have 37 more days to go, 5 more shots of Peg and probably 5 to 8 shots of eprex which is used to boast my hemogloban. I am also seperated for 37 days from a 20 year marriage.  I have had a hard past and yes it does resurface and for me it is during and the next 2 days after the shots, mondy tuesday wednesday .This forum was a life saver and so is the outside help, my blood counts were as low as yours and I also had three transfussions of 2 bags each.  Have faith, have humor where ever you can find it and know that we all are here to support you.

ucbgal, I was given a shot of Procrit every time my HGB dropped below 10 and another each week until it rose above it.

7 is very low. Mine never got below 8.5. Was 9.9 First of this week and had another.

I do good to do about a mile walk everyday but I was industrious and went 2.5 yesterday.

I couldn't handle the Valium. I'd be walking around asleep.

Ha, ha! If I tried to do 200 leg lifts or squats, I'd be on my way to the ER, lol! I feel like I've really accomplished something by walking each evening Thanks for sharing your Glutes story!! I understand perfectly! Also, I had heard that Valium wasn't the drug of choice for us. That's the information that helps make this place shine!

mallani&tig thanks for the rapid replies.

mallani your tip about 7.0 hemo to request transfusion will be my #1 priority.  i knew this was going to happen to me but not on day30!!!

tig,my bf injected me in my glutes as he did 10 years ago. also here's some of my #'s the dr told me over the phone; calcium is 8.9,wbc=3.0,uric=7.3. since he caught me off guard w/the phone call i didn't have my file w/me and forgot to ask about the platelets and hemocrit.

on 7/5 my hemocrit was 30.9,and platelets were 131.

i was attributing my weakness due to the grieving process, basically i walked around in a valium haze for 2years. i had enough and went to therapist. was on valium again 2wks prior to treatment and stopped it thanks to mallani's advice and therapist. now i have no brainfog!!!! finally malani has patiently reassured me that it's ok to have elevated uric w/incivek. actually all i have to do is 200 leg lifts and the knees and ankles are good to go!keep strong.

Hi Sandy, sounds like you`re having a rough time all round at the moment, and I`m glad you`re here with us and can get so much support and good advice.

So sorry to hear about your family losses, it must have been dreadful for you to have to go through in such a short space of time.  Treatment can makes people feel more emotional than usual and it`s fairly common for past issues to resurface, even events you thought you`d dealt with long ago.  I certainly found that when I was on treatment too, and for me it was one of the most difficult aspects, having lost my husband a few years beforehand.   I think it`s a good idea to have some counselling.  How considerate of your therapist to let you have a session over the phone, that was very helpful of her.

Go easy and take care, you know we`re always here for you!  ~ Jill

I reread your post and want to clarify something. You mentioned using your "Glutes" as an injection site. Did you inject into your butt? That isn't a recommended zone. Has anyone else used that location? I don't think I could twist myself into a position like that without help!

The fatigue seems to be a big part of the problem with this stuff. I can almost fall asleep on command! I know what you mean with thigh injection points, they're uncomfortable and I also seem to get more cramping in my legs as a result. So I decided to stop using those areas. There are multiple locations in your abdomen anyway.

Haven't experienced your grieving issues but I have had trouble with depression from the Interferon. That stuff really messes with your mind! I would certainly take advantage of your friend, the therapist! Good luck with that smile

What are your WBC and RBC levels? I got some info back this week too.

WBC - 2.2 (L) RBC - 3.89 (L)  Hb - 11.8 (L) Hct - 34.9 (L)

AST- 18  ALT - 24  Platelet - 105 (L)  Ab Neutro - 1148 (L)

Ab Mono - 147 (L)  Calcium - 8.5 (L)  Uric Acid - 8.8 (H)

Creatnine - 1.37 (H)

No VL load done. I'm curious if anyone knows if the triple Rx meds affect Uric Acid levels adversely? Mine is high. I previously took Allopurinol for gout and through diet changes I got the level back down.

Hi Sandra,

I'm not surprised you're lethargic and dizzy with a Hb of 7.6. Bloody nose may indicate low platelets as well. I dropped my Hb to 7.1 by EOT, and couldn't stand up without support. The Riba reduction will help but may take some time. I would be getting a FBC every few days and I would want a transfusion if the Hb dropped to 7. At the moment, uric acid and liver enzymes are the least of your worries! Keep us informed.

in the past 4 days i,ve been extremely lethargic and dizzy. dr. just called and hemo went to 7.6,uric acid is 7.3,ast/alt up again,73/86. he told me to only take 2 riba/day,will this resolve problem? also forgot to tell him i've been having bloody noses. i don't normally eat meat but think i should have it tonight. have appt. w/rheumatoid arthritis specialist next week along w/hepc dr. should i be overly worried about this? finally 1st time on treatment same thing happened,i've always sufferred from anemia.

also dart5 on wednesday nite in my glutes really knocked me out. ankles&knees are even more swollen and was extremely nauseous! i don't recommend using glutes as an injection site.

was wondering if anyone on treatment was in the grieving process? unfortunately i lost 3 family members in 3 and a half years. went for counseling and resolved issues  and magically they're all resurfacing. fortunately my therapist is so good we started back up again. she didn't want me out in the heat&we did it over the phone.
