Kellie

it was very nice to hear you have only 2 weeks to go.  You have such a great attitude and are being very helpful to the other members by explaining your journey  and giving insight about important genetic testing . It's the sharing of our personal experiences, and trials of treatment that we all face that makes us have this strong appreciation for the forum. Kellie you certainly have contributed whole souled to that cause.

Hi Kellie,

Great results and you are well on your way to SVR. Your brought up the subject of 2 genes I'm interested in, so I'll do a post in General Information about them.(I can hear the collective yawn!). Cheers.

Hi Jill, thank you so much for your kindness and compassion for me during this. You are such a great moderator.

Not much longer. I got lucky with the 677T issue, as the psy. I went to is well versed with this genetic variation. About 10% of the population has both copies (homozygous) of this gene. Folks that have this have trouble absorbing folic acid which is vital to production of the brain chemicals that keep us happy and healthy, among other things. It's a fascinating new development in the genome project.

I do believe one can be tested for this with the 23andme folks.

Have a great day and I love the hair!

hugs from across the pond for you.

K

Nearly there now, Kellie, very well done!  You`ve certainly had a rough ride and had to cope with more than your fair share of sx, that`s for sure.

Your blood results are looking very good, nice to see your Hgb levels back up to a better level, and your liver enzymes are fantastic!

I haven`t come across the 677T test before, that`s interesting.  Good to hear the supplements you`re taking are giving you some relief from the depression, it can be a very difficult part of treatment for many people, and if anyone find something that works for them then it`s worth sticking with, as long as it`s approved by your doctor.

Just hang on in there a bit longer, so pleased you can see light at the end of the tunnel at last!  smile  ~ Jill xx

Yeah!! I'm so happy to hear that you're almost through with this treatment. It hasn't been easy for you but you've handled it like a pro! Your lab tests are improving but it will take awhile for you to be back to normal. Take it slow and follow the same healthy path you have helped so many others with. Don't rush to the finish, because good things come to those willing to wait! smile xxoo B

Hey all, I just wanted to check in with a week 22 update - 2 weeks to go on this. I'll do my last shot on 9/25 and then my last riba the pm of 9/29. It's like time is going very slowly now. I'm still not able to go back to work because of a separate issue and that's a blessing and a curse together.

I've got insomnia something bad and an itchy rash on my right arm. I asked my NP for some Ambien yesterday, I don't know if I'll take it or not. I had an uncomfortable time weaning off the Xanax 6 weeks ago and am unwilling to go through anything like that again. Yuk...

The rash is nothing like the Incivik rash I had thank goodness. Small and localized on my elbow area. I have a great homeopathic cream called Florasone that keeps the rash at bay.

My skin is a wreck with lots of red, splotchy spots and I look like Gollum with my hair so thin.

The severe depression that took over about week 12 is manageable still with the addition of 5-MTHF 15 mg (L-Methylfolate), Omega 3's, Cerefolin, Zinc 30 mg & B6 50 mg.

I mention this because I had some genetic testing last year that identified myself as being homozygous for the 677T and COMT gene. The 677T test is something I think would be handy for docs to use before folks go on interferon, as I believe folks that have it will have a greater incidence of severe depression during treatment. It was amazing how fast the supplements worked for the depression (3 days).

Which leads me to say, humbly, I've been so very blessed during the treatment. It's been the hardest thing, but every time I had  an issue there was always an angel to help me through and more often then not, the angel was you.

I really love this forum and the opportunity to relate, learn and communicate with everyone from all over the world.

My blood work remains steady and unremarkable yawn:

9/5/12

WBC 1.8

RBC 3.54

HGB 12.8

HCT 37.2

MCV 105

MCH 36

AST 28

ALT 32

My HGB was 11.8 in August, so it's slowly creeping up and my liver emzymes are the best they've been since treatment began. With love, K
