Speaking of teeth... I have lost one, broke one and am told the INT is doing bad things to all of them. I inquired about implants to replace a couple of them and I about fell out of the chair! Average price for EACH implant here in Florida is $5,000.00! That's not a typo. Even a bridge of one tooth starts at $2,500.00! I'm going to start stocking up on soft food and protein shakes. Good luck with that Malcolm.

I hope you get those issues figured out soon Sandy. These rashes are miserable at times!

Hi Sandy,

I presume you mean your Transferritin saturation is 90%. It's a bit high (normal is <50) but it is common in HCV and does not necessarily mean iron overload. As your doc whether he's concerned.

Sorry you mentioned my teeth. I'm going in for the 1st. stage of the implant next week. Very hard on the pocket!! In 6 months I will have 2 new teeth, and be able to smile properly again. Vain!! Cheers.

mallani,

oops my ast/alt was 122/199 at beginning of tx and is now 55/65. too many #'s  to keep track of. i guess i shouldn't worry about iron saturation?

also the lotions i use are eucerin calming ,eucerin smoothing, clobetasol 0.05% 1x/day and cortisone otc 1x/day. oatmeal baths, aveeno cream and fluocinonide 0.05% didn't work. finally the coconut and olive oil only made the rash too hot. i just want to stay drier.

again as always your advice really helps all of us. hoping you've resolved your dental issues w/out a big dent in your wallet.

Hi Sandy,

Have you posted your ALT/AST correctly? The ratio between ALT and AST should be <1. My enzymes didn't normalise at all during Rx, but 6 months post, my GGT and AST are normal, but the ALT is still up a bit. Interferon can raise enzymes, so it's not a cause for concern.  Mobic is certainly effective, but I stopped using it after 3 weeks. Be careful, and make sure your doc knows it's toxic to the liver ( but not as bad as some NSAID's.) Your rash is presumably due to Riba. Try to keep it dry and only take a brief, lukewarm shower every few days. I found triamcinolone ointment (0.5%) to be very effective. Lotions like Nivea tended to make it worse. Your Uric acid should settle down after EOT. Struggle on, you're getting there. Cheers.

have mentioned in earlier posts i was suffering from knee &ankle swelling. it became uncomfortable and started naproxen i month ago. well since then my alt/ast haven't gone down at all. started at 122/199 and am now at wk 14 only at 55/65. also iron saturation went from 32% to 80% but am still und. i think i should be alarmed. 2 days ago got mobic 15mg. shouldn't my enzymes and iron get better? also by eot  should i be able to walk w/out a cane after 4p.m. every day? forgot to mention i,m 24 wks, stage 1 and started tx w/ a 3.5 uric but am now 7.0 . yes i do take allopurinal 100 mg. daily.

any ideas/advice to solve the wet, chilly damp feeling on skin, clothing and bedding after 5p.m. like clockwork till 3a.m. every day/night. due to severe rash everywhere except face i apply medicated cream 2x/day and lotion at least 5x/day. can i put cornstarch or baby powder to dry it out? i'm fearful this will only add more fire to the flames although i 've always wanted to be casper the friendly ghost.

enjoy your weekend and  try to have a sx free evening.
