At week 10 of the Incivek triple they reduced my ribavirin to 600 mg/day because my hematocrit dropped way below 30. They also prescribed Procrit injections weekly, then bi-weekly. In five weeks they stopped the Procrit and raised ribavirin to 800mg/day, where it stayed to EOT. It worked just fine. Just enjoy feeling better, which I'm sure you do.

Hi Hillary, they also reduced my Riba to 800 a day for awhile. It really helped me out. It was either that or end TX. I took the reduction..I was determined to finish TX..

Hi Hillary,

Don't worry about teardrops and macrocytosis. Teardrop red blood cells have a pointed end, and can occur in a variety of conditions. Yours will be related to the Riba induced haemolytic anaemia. The macrocytes are just enlarged red blood cells. You will notice your MCV is >100, and these red blood cells are called macrocytes. Again, this is related to the anaemia. All quite to be expected.

Don't worry about the Riba reduction. The old saying was 'be on at least 80% of the dose for at least 80% of the Rx time.........'. Keep up the good work.  Cheers.

So here's the latest update- after my hemoglobin dropped on Sunday the dr made me lower my ribo to 400mg in the morning and 400mg at night still. So they just took one 200 pill out for now and made me get a CBC on thursday. The hemoglobin went back to 10.5! So that was a relief. But I asked my dr to please not change the ribo and let's try something else but she insisted.. An that it wont ruin my chance of svr- so now I'm curious how serious teardrops are in my blood and also the presence of macrocytosis? I tried to look it up a little but I've been so exhausted really have hardly time or patience for anything. :( hope you're all doing well.
