I can hear your anticipation of finishing.  There's definitely plenty of hope.  All the very best.  Caroline

Brian,

I am right at two years post tx, and I can tell you that you will start feeling better in short order. I felt better within 12 hours of halting the ribavirin. Three weeks later about 90% of my strength was back, and within a couple months I felt about 95% normal. After 3 or 4 months it's all like a bad dream.

I feel great today. Good luck with svr!

Shaun

Thanks for all the responses.  Yep...I will have enough Riba to take a week after last injection,  even though my doctor says I don't have to take them...I think I will anyways.  It is better to be safe than sorry.  No regrets.

Thanks again to all of you!!!!!

Sarah,

just my point of view, but I know I started int, and riba the same day, with the understanding that you took them together as either one wouldn't work separately. But maybe hes thinking you already have enough in your system,? to last thru the last week of Interferon. Either way, I will take mine just on a one in a million chance it will kill the last one that's hiding at the very bottom of my liver. lol,  Good luck and hope you have a Great Week!   So yea, what Tig said, lol

 Hi John,

Just want to let you know that you're thinking logically! Back in the day, when Interferon was given 3x per week, there may not have been enough left in your system to make it worthwhile to finish the Riba. Assuming it doesn't work at all without Interferon. But remember, the Interferon we are taking now is "pegylated". In the simplest of terms, that means long lasting. Therefore, there is an adequate level in your system to accommodate the Ribavirin. I also felt that not taking it to completion would haunt me if I didn't achieve SVR. After 6-7 months, I could (and did) one more week with ease. It's got to be similar to the feeling marathon runners have when nearing the finish line. So why stop 100 yards from the finish? As hard as it might be, you just keep going! Good luck...

Congratulations the end is near!
I had 48 weeks on triple with Invicek.
You should recover quickly but be patient
Improving will come in few months.
I took RIBA one week after last shot as doctor
Suggested.
It's huge relief getting to the end.
The healing will begin soon!!

I have a question..I still have 5 more darts to go.  I began my Ribaviron the same day I began my Interf.  My doc says I can stop the Rib the same day as my last dart.  But i have read posts where people continue with the Riba for a week after the last dart.  Any input would be appriciated

Hi Sarah,

Many of us were left with the same situation and question. I really don't understand the logic that some doctors use when arriving at that decision. I had a full week of both Ribavirin and Victrelis left after my last dart. My doc said absolutely, you finish all of your oral meds! The way I look at it is this, when I started the treatment, it was understood that it would be for 28 weeks, 24 of them included the Victrelis. After following the established protocol throughout the entire period, without missing a dose, having paid for all those doses and understanding that the professionals that designed this treatment protocol, indicated it should be for either 24 or 28 weeks, why quit the treatment at week 23 or 27? What is the justification or logic behind that? Convenience? I would ask your hepa that question to hear his reply, if you're curious at all. I absolutely recommend you finish all of your oral meds! Pardon my opinionated rant, but I feel it needed to be said. Good luck!

Hello Brian,

I'm happy to hear you've almost finished Tx. You've had a great attitude from the start and that positive spirit has been an example for all of us. One more dart and the rest of the pills will signal a happy end to the last days of your pet Dragon! Good luck!

Tig

PS: Do you remember writing this last August? Thought you'd like to see how far you've come! Now on to the finish line! smile

"The time has come!!! I picked up all of my meds from my Hepa doctor today and signed my life away to treatment. Will start tomorrow with Incivik, RIBA and take my first interferon shot tomorrow night. I'm very nervous!! What should I expect??? "

That`s great, Brian, well done!!  One more shot and a few more of those riba pills and it will be over, how fantastic!

It takes a lot of strength and determination to get through this treatment, and I agree that it`s certainly a learning experience for many of us.

Wishing you all the best!  smile

I can't believe that I only have one more shot!! It seems like just yesterday I was scared ****less to start treatment. Now I am thankful I had the chance to fight the Dragon!! I've learned a lot about myself by going thru treatment!! Like Joe Dirt says, you gotta keep on keeping on!!! Many thanks to my friends on here for giving me encouragement when I felt there was no hope!!! Thanks to my savior Jesus Christ for blessing me with my friends and loved ones!!!
