Hey Survivor and All

I can recommend some really helpful books the can be purchased as a audiobook for listening from Audible.com

Most of what I found to be enlightening has to do with the body mind connection and proper breathing which allows for deep relaxation and a mediative state.

The three authors I will recommend are quite different in their approach but are useful.

(1) Title - "Breathing" by Andrew Weil M.D. Excellent for learning to relax and other body control.

(2) Title - "What I believe and Deep Relaxation" by Louise Hay One of many great listens by Louise Hay that are available.

(3) Title - "Your Body is your Subconscious Mind" by Candace Pert M.D. More of a scientific approach to the body mind connection.

You can buy these as books but I prefer listening via MP3 file downloaded to my computer then into my IPhone / MP3 player with headphones or in the car while driving.

Enjoy the listening and learning it can help in many areas of life.

Hi Matt. I went back and looked again at Breathing" "by Andrew Weil M.D", and I think I wrote it off too fast.

I got it free on Audibles.com and am really finding it valuable so far. BTW if anyone wants this book free and one other as well you can sign up for a trial account, get 2 audible books, and then cancel it. Worked great for me!

I sometimes listen to the free relaxing sounds on youtube. I love the sound of rain on a tin roof, or the crackling off wood fires. I empty my mind and relax shutting all my thoughts off and just listen. I find this puts me in a state of total relaxation... :)

About that massage...   A masseuse I visited regularly before she left the area was a huge proponent of visualized breathing. While she worked the various body parts, including the liver, she would have me visualize a bright, healing light entering my body on the inhale. She would have me then imagine it flowing to the point of injury or illness, and replacing the bad mojo, which she would have me visualize leaving the body on exhale.

How effective it might have been I can't say for sure. I do know I almost had to crawl out of the office a few times, I was so relaxed. Hated it when she split. Very theraputic and worth every penny.

I have a hunch that Tai Chi and other like disciplines require a lot of time to start really benefiting from. That's probably fine for those already in it.

I'll keep looking at audio books - I am looking for something a little more specific, but as mentioned there are thousands to pick from.

In the mean time, I just had a pretty nice experience.

My wife massaged my back with generic bengay while focusing on healing thoughts, and I did the same as the receiver. Of course the bengay feels nice anyway. But I think of it more as a vehicle to getting your mind where it needs to be - in a healing mode. We've done tons of massages before, but this one where we both focused on healing was really special - I am already looking forward to another!

I had been meditating a bit alone on healing, but the power of another person's healing touch felt to me like a stronger step in the right direction.

Thanks all, great ideas here.

Gary

Hey all

Scruffy also also recommend Qi Gong, I took a primer course in Medical Qi Gong its was an excellent way to get in touch with your body.

On my last post I recommended Lousie Hay audio books she has another one on Self Healing that I forgot to include. Again if you want to listen via mp3 player the best way for most people is to go to audible.com they have thousands of great books. I am not affiliated with them in any way but can recommend them.

Hi hepcsurvivor

I went the Tai Chi route. Its a meditation through movement and a martial art. Gets me outside and the movement is good for your body. You might want to check out Qi Gong also. Great place to start is by checking out the dvd's by Chris Pei. There is a sample of each on you tube. They both require some  visualization and will build balance, mental and physical.

Best to you.

Hi Matt,

Thank you for this! I also am a big fan of 'books on tape', so this could be perfect. smile

Hello,

Has anyone had a positive experience with healing using the mind?

For example, there are 2 areas I would like to work on for myself while I am under TX (Sovaldi+Ribavirin).

I would like to be able to work on visualizing a healthy and an smooth liver.

Would also like to encourage my body to assist in healing the hep C while I am under TX.

Has anyone here done anything along these lines, and was it helpful?

If so, I would love to hear details.

Many Thanks!

Gary
