Same here. Particularly during the first go round 15 years ago.  Six inch red circle around site most of the time.  Changed sites often.  Second time around no real problems, except loss of hair.  Used two sites for 48 weeks the second time around.  I started a thread on this about six months ago.  Good luck. Hopefully your body will adjust.

Hi Tim, it's been 10 years since I injected but I remember it well and seemed to have a lot of the same irritation that you describe. I injected around my belly button in a clock wise pattern and it seems as though there was always some redness and irritation. Hang in there, I'm wishing you success.

Thanks Gracie and Tig!

I know I have read of some people have irritation around the site, but didn't know how long. I was thinking just that Gracie, I may run out of sites!

Tig,

I have used 9 then 3. As Gracie mentioned I was wondering if I'd run out of sites! My first site is still pretty good size. It doesn't bother me (i.e itchy etc.) just thought I'd ask. I have pre filled syringes not the injectors right now. I guess the nurse checked the wrong box and they're going to change it over to the injector next refill. That said I have attempted to be pretty sure I stay SubQ. Pinching and all that. I read where you and another member were discussing the indentations. Seems odd, but I guess that an apt description for this treatment sx's. Very odd and a bit different for all!

Tim

Hi Tim,

Where are you injecting? I set up a zone around my belly button and rotated the injection site each week. Never use the same side two weeks in a row. Use a bullseye for example and inject at different locations each week. I didn't use any areas below my belly button, always between 3,9 and 12 o'Clock. Then move to 1, 2, 10 and 11 as well. Be sure you're injecting into the subcutaneous tissue. Using your injector properly will assure that. You can also try the top of your thighs if you prefer, using the same rule, never twice in the same spot.

I did have some injection site irritation but it didn't last. I did notice after a few months, that my injection sites began to have the appearance of shallow indentations, about the diameter of a golf ball! One other member here had the same issue. Mine have since disappeared, but it was pretty bizarre for awhile! I also had occasional problems with injection site itching and nothing helped that except for Zyrtec and cool compresses. I wouldn't worry about it, it's par for the course. But it's wise to let your doctor or nurse know if it becomes troublesome. Good luck!

Tig

Its funny as one shot from 3 weeks ago still has a red bump and an itch. It seems I have a reaction every week of some sort, but this one is still there. Mine are about an inch to an inch and a half round. Running out of spots on the belly and too scared to do a leg shot...lol

Hi All,

I'm about 10 days into therapy. My first injection site (from 10 days ago) is still pretty bruised red. It's down to about 1 inch by 3 inch. My second site is starting to grow as well. I wasn't surprised that there was some site irritation, but was a little surprised it was that size 10 days later. Anyone else have a similar experience? First labs on Fri. was going to mention it then, but figured I'd ask my new friends here. Thanks!

Tim
