There is a strong argument to be made related to waiting for tx if fibrosis is mild to moderate. The same strong argument can be made for not waiting for those with more impairment.  I was going to wait for the new all orals, however my doctor said we have them available now.......just not FDA approved.  He was referring to Sovaldi and Olysio.

The cure rates are very impressive. My doctor is nationally known and has been involved in many of the new trials.  He told me " We used to be surprised when we saw a cure, now we are surprised when we don't" The only problem is getting coverage through the insurance plans.

The all oral regimen has been a dream for me this far......granted it's only been one week but nothing major so far.

Whether you choose to treat now or in the near future, this disease is headed for extinction for all.

I was going to start the Sovaldi+Riba+Peg treatment soon for my Hep C, Genotype 1a. But my Dr. at the VA said that because I only have stage 1 fibrosis it would be wise to wait for the newest combo to come out at the end of the year. He said its all but sure to be approved. I'm talking about sofosbuvir/ledipasvir a combination pill once daily with or possibly without Ribavirin. Sounds great to me! Anything to avoid Interferon. Also he explained to me about 1L28b which is a gene related to the interferon system. There are three kinds. CC-CT and TT. Only CC responds well to Interferon and TT responds the worst. I have CT which is somewhere in the middle. He said that all Genotypes and all 1L28B variations including prior null responders have had nearly 100% 12SRV with this new all oral treatment which has "breakthrough" status from the FDA. I was wondering if any other people on here are awaiting this treatment and also if most people on here are aware of their 1L28B genotype. I had never heard of it before. From what I understand, an all oral treatment for all genotypes is on the way and it looks very promising. He's an infectious disease specialist so I am sure he knows his stuff. I wonder what they will charge for this pill! I'm lucky, I have no out of pocket costs.
