I have to say this has been a bit of a close race. Two years ago I had my gall bladder out and my GP said we should do a biopsy after some labs came back a little screwy. He said I might hold off treatment because some new stuff was on the horizon that was easier to deal with. Now my fibroscan shows stage 3-4 and many new symptoms have shown up. I feel like this treatment has showed up in the nick of time. Thanks for all the encouragement

That is such good news, David!  I`m so pleased you`re able to do the Sovaldi/Olysio combo treatment and at no cost to yourself,  this is great news for other Canadians hoping to get it too.  Just shows how important it is to be informed about current options and be proactive in your own treatment, rather than go with the first one that`s offered.

Wishing you all the best of luck, keep us posted!  smile

That's tremendous news, David!  It's good to see things start to move forward up there.  Thanks also for posting the relevant details. They will prove useful to others.  Best of luck to you on your treatment. ;)

I got my Rx approved Sovaldi/Simeprevir today. Between the 2 drug companies and my work health insurance my cost is $0.00CDN

I will do baseline bloodwork/VL and then start Wednesday. That is one week since the financial assistance went in through Gilead and Jannsen

The Canadian program for assistance through Gilead is called Momentum and I believe the Simeprevir assistance is though Galexo.

My employee health is through Sun Life.

If I had not have seen this site I would have let my Dr put me on the 48wk triple therapy but by researching on here and elsewhere I was able to mention the other drugs. My Dr said they were very expensive and would not be covered under BC medical. I mentioned I had health insurance and then all of a sudden doors opened fast.

Thanks to all of you here I can talked to my Dr with some informed ideas about this disease and my outlook seems to be fairly hopeful at this point.
