I have the same achy pain feelings regularly. I also did not experience it my first round of tx with just riba and interferon. It's hitting me in different ways this time. My pain is mostly in my legs and lower back though. So, must be the interferon or riba. Glad to hear that you are done with the incevik! Probably feels great to get rid of that. Hopefully, the rest of treatment feels like a breeze in comparison.

It has subsided now.. Lasted about two and a half days. Thank goodness as it would be hard to deal with all the time. I have been thinking now that I've done the incevik, I may start to exercise again. Maybe take one of my dogs for a walk. If we ever get rid of this blasted snow! Come on spring!

Try some light exercise Gracie. Tx does a number on your muscles and you need them to support your joints.

Hi Gracie,

Interferon-induced myopathy and arthralgia are well documented. 13 months after EOT, my joint and muscle problems have resolved. I'm afraid you just have to put up with it, but exercise and some anti-inflammatories help. At least it's reassuring to know that it does get better after EOT (eventually).

Hi Gracie,

You're not alone in your discomfort! I swear you and I must be on the same Tx wavelength. I was just telling my wife that I'm noticing increased muscle and joint discomfort. It has gotten much worse this week alone. My leg and back muscles are sore and cramping severely this week. If that isn't enough, I hate to admit it but I've got that damn Riba rash starting on my abdomen again. Small red dots that are beginning to blister. The itching is driving me nuts.

So it's difficult to say how long these SFX will last. I've seen them come and go and come again. I believe that in time we'll see diminishing symptoms but how long that will be is the $64,000 dollar question. Be sure to keep your doctor advised of these events, as many don't know or can't track them if they aren't informed of them. I'd like to see these Tx doctors have their patients complete quarterly surveys for a couple years post Tx to follow things like this. I have to believe that the costs of these types of SFX following the Interferon based therapies adds greatly to the overall financial impact these older SOC's cause. If they can prove the continued use of them adds to the overall treatment morbidity and financial cost, perhaps it will benefit those being denied access to the new wonder drugs simply because of the cost involved. They insurance providers simply must take into consideration the cost of post term treatment and loss of income due to these lingering SFX. Sounds right to me anyway... So there insurance companies!!! bleh

So, who has had problems with joint pain, how long did it last and does it go away after treatment? My hips and shoulders (between my shoulder blades)  have been aching since yesterday and I mean aching! Been taking Tylenol for arthritis which seems to help. Is this from the incevik? Don't remember having this pain last time I treated with inteferon and RIBA alone.
