From my experience, that will depend on the lab, your physician, and whether or not your state allows results to be released directly to the patient. Most states do, but I don't believe yours is one of those. That will leave you at the mercy of your doctor's office. My clinic is notoriously lax about getting lab info back to the patient. With no online portal available here, I go down to the lab (it's close by) and sign for my own copies (1 day for most of it, 1-3 for the viral load), which is usually a few days quicker than I'd get them from the doc. If you're uncomfortable with the wait time, call their office and ask what's going on. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much Cinnamon Girl!! I am so excited about my treatment and feel truly blessed that I was approved. I can't wait till I get my first results. I go in on April 8th for my first doc visit and I guess they will be testing my progress then. Does anyone know how long it takes to get results back?

Hi Dee Dee, I agree with Tig and Wayne, your numbers are remarkably good as a pre-treatment baseline!  And your liver enzymes are great, it took almost 6 months of peg/rib for mine to get down to that level!  You started off with a low viral load and I`m sure you`ll soon achieve an undetected result, which is what we all want to see!

Nothing to worry about there, you`ll be fine!  smile

Hi Dee Dee,

Those numbers are excellent! All within normal limits. The RNA PCR viral quantity load is 673,000 (low viral count) and your genotype is listed as 1A. The numbers that stick out are your ALT/AST. When we see liver damage increasing, these two numbers typically will elevate. That's what brings doctors to run additional tests, which often results in the diagnosis we all share, HCV. They do fluctuate and during treatment, a high ALT/AST will generally lower, often to normal parameters. We like to see what is known as the ALT/AST ratio to be as close to 1 as possible. That simply means, we like to see those numbers as close to even as possible. Your numbers pre treatment are right where we like to see them. With the exception of that viral load, and that we want to see at ZERO!! You're on your way, keep things looking like this and I'd be thrilled! Good luck..

Tig

PS: The HCV Log number is another way they count the viral load, it means the same as the 673,000. Just written in an exponential form.
