One other thing J, it won't make a bit of difference regarding your sun sensitivity if you take your Olysio at night. These medications are long lasting in nature and will absorb into your tissues. You build up a blood and fat level of these drugs and it's the constant exposure of your tissues to these drugs that kills and hinders the replication of the HCV virus. Just for example Ribavirin stays in your body for up to 6 months after you stop taking it. I'm not sure what the time frame for Sovaldi and Olysio is, but we'll find out. But you can expect it to be weeks or months in some cases. I would take both of them together to make your administration times easier.

Got it - thank you. I eat pretty healthy but I have olive oil, coconut oil, nuts and grass fed butter and do avocados count? I like your ice cream idea - something I don't normally ever indulge in, but I will for 12 weeks if necessary :)

Yep, that would be a good start. Things like regular ice cream, nuts, coconut or olive oil is excellent. We had one fellow here that took his Incivek with tablespoons of Olive oil, yuck... But if you look at the labels of things in your cupboard, you'll be amazed at the fat content of them! It's not as important for you to concentrate on the high fat requirements as the Incivek patients were required to. Try to do your best to eat a healthy, balanced diet and take your medication with that food. You'll do well if you follow that routine!

PS: It's also mega important to drink at least 2 to 3 liters of good quality water every day too! That will minimize any side effects and besides that, it helps your body in so many different ways!

Okay. Like a spoonful of peanut butter? Or toast with butter? You think that should do? Or do you have any better suggestions?

It's always best to take any medication with food and if possible, something with a higher fat content. It assists in the bioavailability of the medication. It helps the body absorb and make best use of the drug. The recent treatment drug "Incivek" that you will occasionally see people taking or referring to, required each dose to be taken with a full 20 grams of fat. That was a tough thing to adjust to for many people, but it was required or the drug wouldn't absorb into your system in sufficient quantities. So my recommendation is to always take your medication with a snack or meal.

My pharmacist suggested I take them together at dinner time. It has worked well for me so far.

Hi Everyone;

I'm on my third day of Sovaldi/Olysio treatment and don't really have any side effects except more thirsty than normal.

I'm wondering if there's an optimal time to take the meds? A friend of mine said that it's best to take Solvaldi on an empty stomach and Olysio with food. They said Solvaldi works best on an empty stomach even though the doctors didn't mention that.

Also, I'm wondering if I took Olysio at around Sunset, then it wouldn't make me as ultra-sensitive to the sunlight? I've been taking that one in the morning and I'm avoiding the sun like the plague but I have a toddler who loves to swim and be outside, so it's going to be an interesting summer. Not to mention we are moving too. Talk about doing it all or nothing.

Thanks! :) Best of luck to all of us. I'm so grateful.
