Hi Bob and welcome to the forum. I'm about seven weeks post finishing the Sovaldi/Olysio combo. None or minimal SX for me similar to Barnacle's experience. A little insomnia perhaps, but that was it. I didn't have any UV problems since it was the beginning of winter when I started the combo. Tig's advice is spot on and I would only add that Olysio is to be taken with food. Apparently this is not a factor with Sovaldi.

You will be surprised at how fast your VL diminishes and blood work starts to show improvement in your LFTs. If you have suffered any of the insidious effects from Hep C or liver inflammation over the last few years, you will start to feel better over the next few weeks. The change can be subtle, but still noticeable as in my case.

Good luck and keep us posted with your progress and questions

Hi Bob,

I'd like to welcome you to the forum. We have several members here on your combo that will chime in and give you tips on success,  as well as a friendly hello. We have plenty of knowledgeable people that have tons of advice that will help you through treatment. Congrats on getting started, especially on this blockbuster combo! Things happen fast, so hang on and ready yourself for rapid results! My suggestion to you is to dedicate your life over the next 12 weeks to killing this virus. You can do that by first doing some simple things, like proper diet, hydration and rest. Avoid processed foods when possible, 2-3 liters of good water daily and 6-8 hours of sleep. You may notice some insomnia, if you do there are things you can do. Barnacle mentioned sun exposure and you need to be cautious in that respect. Should you have any bad side effects, which is unlikely, let your doctor and us know. We can offer some suggestions to make things easier. You'll find that the time goes by quicker than you thought it would, so commit yourself to doing it right and you'll be celebrating your first undetectable report in no time! Good luck...

Tig

My combo has riba as well. Coming up to week 8 now. Minimal Sx. I am usually very UV tolerant but got a sunburn on my head early in treatment from very little sun. So cover up.
Don't worry, enjoy the ride and you can't imagine the relief you will feel an month from now when you get the UND notice from the Dr.

Well I just swallowed my first dose of Sovaldi and Olysis...so DAY 1.

I am super nervous cause I have lived with this virus like the rest of us here for around 35+ years. It is hard to even image life without it, but I am hoping for the best.

If anyone has any advice or side effects that they experienced, I would love to hear about them. I want to try and do everything possible to help this medication work, so if anyone has any diet advice, etc etc. Drink lots of water? Anything would be appreciated.

Anyway, just thought of everyone on the forum battling this disease and wanted to express hopes that we all get cured very soon!

Gonna read through some posts, but would love to hear from everyone!

B
