I was on sovaldi and ribavirin. I did gain a little weight, seven pounds, but I think it was due to the fatigue. After a while I didn't have the energy to workout as much. I know sovaldi can lead to fatigue. I wouldn't worry too much about it as you can lose it after treatment. If you're gaining a lot, consult your doctor. My gloucose is still a bit high at 101 but I can get it down again now that I'm done with tx. Always consult your doctor or pharmacist about your side effects. Good luck with treatment.

I've found no documentation that would indicate the likelihood of weight gain or weight loss as a result of these medications. I do know that the treatment I was on, was responsible for my weight loss over the last year. I have been experiencing some considerable discomfort following the end of treatment last December and as all of us should do following EOT, we need to continue to see our primary care doctors. The first few months of treatment I noticed a steady drop in weight and by the EOT, I had lost over 50 pounds. I know it wasn't because I wasn't eating, because I ate more while I was on treatment than I ever did before! I was on the Victrelis protocol and had to eat at least three times per day with the medication. But I still lost weight and it was a concern of my hepa doc throughout tx.

As I mentioned, I've been experiencing some increased pain in my hips and large joints since EOT. I saw an orthopaedic specialist this week, along with my hepatologist and PCP, trying to determine what's going on. The XRays are showing mild evidence of arthritis, and some signs of bone spur growth that wasn't there a year ago. The physical limitation in my right hip is profound and the hepatologist and orthopod both agree that it's likely evidence of an interferon induced immune response. But they both admit that there isn't a lot of information out there on it when dealing with HCV patients. It's disappointing for me, because it's very uncomfortable. There's little they can do outside of monitor it and have prescribed Naproxen for the inflammation. The weight loss was mentioned and I've actually continued to lose weight, in spite of a normal diet and increased activity since EOT. I can only attribute it to treatment and the death of the virus. What other reason for the significant loss of weight is there? I know it wasn't a weight loss program I would recommend provided there is an easier way, lol! I'm hoping that it isn't a trend that continues and the weight loss levels out and stays stable. Currently I'm kind of enjoying being able to eat what I want without the punishment on the day I have to hit the scales!

It may just be your body is functioning better and absorbing more nutrients from what you are eating, I put on weight about 10lbs since starting tx and finishing tx from where my weight leveled off after losing so much from malnutrition of the ESLD , I have a better appetite so naturally you eat, then if your digestive system is working better due to better liver function I would think it would be somewhat natural to gain some weight.

I'm not on that combo but posting will bump up your question.  :)

I gained 10 lbs on the Incivek combo and I sure didn't enjoy that.  Setting an alarm so I could stuff my face with 20 grams of fat 3 times a day was like a shock to my system after a lifetime of trying not to eat too much fat.

When I first heard about the fat requirement I didn't like it but thought it would be kind of cool to have permission to eat lots of fattening foods--just for a little while--but it turned out to be awful.  Plus my glucose levels, which had previously been normal, shot up like a rocket.  I'm pretty sure the Marquis de Sade invented that treatment.

I'm someone who notices a 3 - 5lb weight gain so it could just be me but I was wondering if it might be a side effect to the Sovaldi/Olysio treatment. Anyone?
