If you and/or your doctor think you've been infected with tapeworm cysts, an antibody test can identify the infection. If you have neurological symptoms, the cysts can be located using magnetic resonance imaging MRI). Most people recover from tapeworm infections, though depending on which organs were infected though some long-term effects may result.

Saw this in a magazine long ago. Kid had tape worms. His Mom packed him a enema to use at School. One day he made a rest room trip to use the enema. His Mom messed up and filled his enema with bosco (chocolate syrup). He noticed it and poured it in the toilet and sat down. The worms smelled it"yaaa bosco!!!we...... they all jumped out of the kid to swim in the bosco. Zap comics hahaha.

Just because you had tapeworms as a kid doesn't mean you have hydatid disease now, Huey.   Mild pain could be caused by a myriad of things, right?   Your doc should be able to sort this out but I wouldn't assume it is anything serious at this point.

My previously feral cat had tapeworms when she came to live with me. Vet gave her some meds and she pooped the tapeworms right out.  Not really relevant to your situation but I just thought you might like to know about her experience.   yawn

The hydatid tapeworm commonly infects dogs. A person who comes into contact with infected dog faeces may contract hydatid disease, which is when cysts form in vital organs such as the liver. Hydatid disease is a serious and potentially fatal condition. Symptoms may occur a long time after the initial infection.

Sounds nasty to me, but I really have no clue on this subject. The last thing I read about it was a mad researcher that infected himself on purpose in the 80's so see the long term consequences - not the smartest thing to do.

Hopefully it is just your body re-adjusting after being infected, it wouldn't be too strange as the body adjusts. I'd wait for a medical answer to this one. Good luck! :)

  Hi, I am experiencing some mild pain that is unexplainable, I am wondering if it is a Cysts of some-kind, I once had a tapeworm and this too can be a factor as I have found in my research into it so far.  hoping someone has some insight to this along with the HCV as a complicationevileye

 I would get it checked by a Doctor! Wow a tapeworm, I've heard of them but never knew anyone that had one. When I came off treatment I straight away got a sty on my eye, and my skin went a bit spotty. Apart from that?

 I had this as a teenager but I read how it goes through your liver and can lead to cysts.  I am of coarse going to talk with Nurse Bell about this when I see her next week;
