Welcome bassetgirl:

Glad to hear you are almost finished with tx and that it hasn't been too rough.  Sovaldi/Olysio can work just fine for 1as too and the odds are that you will achieve SVR.  Sounds like you are receiving good medical care which is also a big plus in your favor.  Take care.  :)

Welcome to the forum!   This is a great resource.  I too contracted this in the 1970's and am also in my 60's.  I just started a clinical trial with 2 of the new drugs which are coming out.  I wouldn't be depressed if I was you....these new treatments are almost miracles.  Your chances are very good of ridding yourself of the virus with the treatment you are on.  Be patient and be good to yourself.  There's so many knowledgable people here.  I'm sure all your questions will be answered.

Again, welcome.

I'm a 63 years old woman and was just diagnosed with Hep C in Jan. 2014 when I started to have bruising problems due to low platelet count. Big surprise. I've had it since 1977 and at this point I'm early stage cirrhotic with a liver lesion that's being monitored with CT scan and MRI's every 3 months. I'm being treated at a teaching hospital/liver transplant center and have a lot of confidence in my hepatologist. I started reading this forum when I was first diagnosed and want to thank everyone for the information- I think I've learned more here than from all the info. I've gotten from my doctors.

I started treatment with Sovaldi/Olysio May 8th and will finish July 30th, fatigue has been my only real side effect.  I'm feeling a little discouraged at this point because it seems like most of the people failing this treatment are 1a cirrhotics like myself, but if this doesn't work I'll just keep going to the next drug combo until I'm cured.

Thanks again to everyone who posts here, it's been a big help to me over the past 6 months.
