P.S. The hematocrit is a measurement of your red blood cells.  Naturally, because your hgb is low, so is your hematocrit.   That's the riba.

Hi Mike:

Your platelets actually look good.  150 is considered normal and yours are 143.  Cirrhotics often do have low platelets; mine run around 90 since my Interferon tx (they were 200 before tx).  Interferon will take them down but for most people they return.  Since you are not on Interferon yours should be fine during tx.  Some cirrhotics have platelets that run around 50; that is low but they can actually be lower than that before it becomes really troubling.

Your Hgb is low at 10.0.  That means you are a little anemic as I'm sure you know.  Not too bad, though.  If this continues your doc may talk to you about reducing your riba, adding another drug called procrit, or giving you a transfusion.  They usually don't transfuse till it drops to < 7.5 (at least my doc didn't).

Your WBC is also normal.  Those were the three that went bad for me during tx: Platelets, Hgb, and WBC, but I was on a different tx.  You are looking pretty good from what I can tell.

That's about all I know but I just wanted to reassure you that you are doing ok.   So far so good.  Malcolm can give you the full scoop.

Note, SOT was 7-23-14. May 2 2014 are the latest pre Tx labs we have.

Here are values I get off the patient portal. I don't have the complete lab result printout yet so I'm not sure if both of these dates are done by the same lab. I don't think so.  I'm not good at reading these so you all help me here. RBC's and platelets look pretty low to my untrained mind. How low will my Dr let these go before taking action? What other test results do I need to look for when I receive a full printed copy?
