Hi Mopey:

This experience will soon be behind you and you will also have a new baby to celebrate!  2015 should be an awesome year for you all the way around. And you will learn how to change a diaper (it doesn't get much better than that)!.  biggrin

Darkstar, yes I do have ribavirin-related anemia, and I suspect that is what has caused these nasty side effects.

Mallani, thanks for deciphering that liver biopsy report, that was helpful! I'm still wrapping my head around much of this stuff, and am grateful that so many on this forum seem to actually understand the science!

Hi Mopey,

I remember the problems with deciphering your liver biopsy report. That seems a long time ago!

Congrats on getting to the end. It's been a hard road but the reward will be along shortly. Let us know the VL results.

Don't expect to feel great for a while. It takes time to eliminate those poisons. Best wishes.

Congrats on getting near the end.  I assume that you have ribavirin related anemia, improvement in that alone should help.

Thanks everyone for the good wishes. I could not have done it without this forum. Even just checking in and reading what was going on with everyone else made me feel less alone. Let's see if I achieve SVR, but grateful to be where I am.

Good to hear from you again, Mopey, and it`s great to hear you`ve almost finished your 24 weeks of tx now...congrats on getting to this point, it certainly hasn`t been easy for you!

Very good advice on getting through...stick with it and just take it day by day...yes, I agree!

The peg/riba treatment can be very hard going, I remember it well, and you`ve had a particularly difficult time of it, but you`re almost there and you have so much to look forward to with your new addition to the family!

Wishing you all the best of luck, do keep in touch and let us know about your EOT results!  smile

Congratulations Mopey! I remember all too well the highs and lows of treatment. You've had quite an interesting journey considering your wife's pregnancy! That's a balancing act that most of us haven't dealt with. Once you're finished with Tx, it will take some time to clear the drugs but you will notice improvements right away that will make life easier. I'm the father of a beautiful young lady, who just blessed me and my wife with our first grand daughter. If similar, I promise you a wonderful life ahead. You're a lucky man in my eyes! You have both a wife and child on the way and what appears to be a Hep free life. You have many things to be thankful for and I couldn't be happier for you.

Take the next few weeks and months to both recover and get ready for the happy, healthy life ahead. Maintain your positive attitude and what you desire can be yours! Good luck Mopey! Please keep in touch and let us know how things progress and give your wife our very best ---- (It won't be long Dad!)

Good for you & congratulations on the coming baby( I have five kids). I am also a type 3 and always curious about how Interferon/Rib goes ( as it looks like this is what I shall be taking). I have choose to turn down treatment for a while, just to wait and see if some less aggressive compounds are made available soon.

Hi everyone,

I haven't posted in a while, but I thought I'd give an update on my treatment to give hope to all those out there that are starting out on this journey.

As you can see from my signature, I started treatment (interferon + ribavirin) on June 3rd, 2014, and am due to finish a 24 week course on November 17th. After 4 weeks, I had a 3 log drop, and after 12 weeks, I was undetected!!! It was a huge relief. Now that I'm near the end, I really can't believe I made it. Side effects seemed to dip down during the middle part of the treatment, but they are flaring up again at the end. That may also be due to the fact that my stress levels have gone up recently.

In any case, I can't believe I'm almost done with treatment. The first month was absolutely terrible. We had just found out that my wife was pregnant with our first child, which was great news, but it meant that her first trimester sickness and my start-of-treatment sickness coincided, and there were days when neither one of us could get out of bed. We would have no food, no clean clothes or sheets, and were both really depressed. I've felt terrible the last six months that I haven't been able to support her or be as excited as we should be about the pregnancy, because I've been struggling so much myself. I really hope that by the time the baby comes (mid-February), that my post-treatment effects have subsided and I have a clean bill of health.

For those of you starting interferon and ribavirin (which will probably be fewer and fewer of you now that so many other treatment options are becoming available), just stick with it. Yes, it's miserable, but just take it day by day and you'll get there. If I can do it, anybody can. Best of luck to all of us!
