into week 2 now - second " dart " done on Sat night and went pretty well with nothing much to report. Going to bed early so getting plenty of rest. when getting up 6am do feel a bit sluggish but that disappears after a bit of walking. Got first blood results today and they were pretty good - ALT and AST have more than halfed and the rest there wasn't much of a drop. They wont be doing a VL test till end of 6 months so wil block that out of the mind. Its just keep on keeping on at the moment.

Hi Perry:

The Interferon is interesting because some people feel the flu-like effects immediately and for others it takes a few days.  I used to take my shot on Friday evening and found that Monday and Tuesday were the hardest days.  Your body may adjust to it, though, and those side effects will diminish with subsequent injections.

Yes, you can use any down time to plan your next adventure!  I like the sound of that.  smile

well day 6 and not to much to report. Yes there is a bit more tiredness and a small bit of flu type symptoms and definitely the running has dropped back quite a bit ( not a bad thing though at the moment) but generally speaking these first few days haven't been to bad. Def keeping up the hydration and trying to keep life as normal as possible. We will see how things go over the next few weeks but will keep up the running as I'm sure this is helping - this next 6 months will help me plan my next adventures!!!!

Hey Perry

Congrats on starting your treatment, hoping all goes well in the months to come.

The running will still be a release for you but you will probably have to tuff through it.

Hi Perry,

Youll probably notice some aches and flu like side effects from the IFN and the Riba will deliver its own unique SFX as time goes on. Your physical condition will be a benefit but you may even experience more muscular discomfort from the IFN. You might want to take some Tylenol (Paracetamol) before bed just in case. It's always a good idea, actually a requirement to concentrate on your hydration. I'm sure you do anyway, but keep the intake above 3 liters per day. It helps the headaches and muscular discomfort. We've got plenty of good ideas and tips to deal with the SFX, be sure to check the search pages for more info. If you need help tracking down information, just let us know. Stay positive and in touch! Good luck...

Hi Perry:

One thing is certain.  After that run across the US you are certainly fit and determined!  Pretty amazing accomplishment.  I checked it out on youtube. Make sure to stay well hydrated during this tx and keep us posted.  smile

You may have to cut back just a bit on the running while on this tx.  Maybe cover 4-5 states or half of NZ only?  lol

Had the first " dart " yday afternoon and ahvent had to many problems - yet!!!!  Starting the Riba tonight with tea/dinner so will be interesting to see over the next few days. Went for a run this morning and found I was really tired the last half of it so going to have to be careful on that side. Onward and upward from here!!!!!
