Before Tx my body would remind me in various ways, daily that I had Hep C. Already I hardly think about it so I still need to come back here and see how everyone is doing.

Hang in there it will be over before you know it.

Thanks guys from the bottom of my heart. I was only moments away from a different course of treatment when I discovered through this site that I had options.
As Jill has mentioned I didn't know how messed up I was until I got better. This disease is so insidious and slow acting that I didn't even know what normal felt like.
Very likely the new drugs that make us feel better so quick are giving us a look at our sickness. I can only assume the 48wk survivors didn't get that same realization at least immediately. I know my Tx was working the first week just by how I felt.
I have done a lot this last 6 months because I now feel confident I will be able to enjoy the fruits of my labors.

God bless you all.

Oh and by the way. The hep c clinic in Nanaimo BC run by Dr Morse and two angels named Sarah and Shelby are top notch and told me they were just as excited as I was about my SVR because I was the first to get this Tx on Vancouver Island. They did lots of research for me and helped me get the meds, the copay the whole deal.

Another SVR 24 weeks!  Congrats to my hubbie -- just got the results today and the doctor said he is "cured".  I needed to share with you all...He's 1b, with a fibroscan score of 25 and cirrhosis.  Was on S/O 3 months.  No problems on treatment. Thanks for everyone's support and sharing their knowledge here.  That was how we found out how to proceed. I've been patiently waiting since February and see my Dr. Tuesday.  Hopefully, I'll have good news about treatment with Harvoni for me.  Merry Christmas everyone! :)

That is such excellent news, David, congratulations on your SVR!!!  biggrin

You must be so relieved and happy to have arrived at this point after such a long time, and what a wonderful feeling it is to know you`re finally free from Hep C!

I agree with Gator Man that for many people it`s only after we start feeling a lot better that we realise just how much the virus had been effecting our general health and energy levels, sometimes for many years or even decades before we cleared the virus.

So pleased for you, have a very Merry Christmas!  smile

Congratulations! I guess statistically speaking, you now have a better chance of a Boeing 767 landing on your head than you do of relapsing.

Hey David,

SVR it is!! Congratulations on this excellent milestone. I can tell you that getting those test results back, confirming a still undetectable viral load, never gets old! I don't care how many weeks or months go by, it stays as sweet as it was the first time.

I hope to see you on the forum in the future! We need to talk about the successes with those starting down Treatment Road. You Veteran's bring hope to all of the Newbies and nobody understands the journey better than you do!

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you!

Tig

Outstanding! Just a few weeks ahead of you Barnacle and I do feel like a new man as well. Because of the insidious nature of this disease, it can take time to realize how much better one feels compared to the last few years prior to Tx. Nearly nine months post-EOT, I know I'm in much better shape than I've been in at least a decade. I certainly hope our good fortune becomes routine for everyone suffering with HCV.

Merry Christmas Barnacle, and good holiday wishes to all. Keep in touch. Let's hope that 2015 is the year that we start putting HCV in the rear view mirror for everyone!

My clinic nurse just called me. UND 24 weeks post TX! I found this forum because my Dr had suggest it was time for treatment. Things were getting grim and postponing was a bad idea. I started all the testing poking prodding and bloodletting as well as MRIs ultrasounds fibroscans and then somewhere in that process I found this site. I was reading on here about a new TX that did not involve interferon. I told my Dr about it and he said its available but likely too expensive to pay out of pocket. Then the next miracle was my health insurance provider agreed to pay for it. Public health plan wouldn't since the Dr wanted me on an off-label Tx. So here I am almost a year since I started down the road to recovery and 25 years since I was told I had a disease that could kill me I'm cured You guys are the best. My treatment was mostly uneventful. I sleep the night through mostly and don't need a back scratcher by my bed. Other than a few post Tx aches and pains which I'm hoping will go away eventually I feel like a new man. Thanks for all your support. God bless those who are still fighting the fight. I will be still watching this forum to see how everyone is doing Merry Christmas
