Hi suziq,

Ultrasound is pretty poor at looking at the pancreas. CT is better but MRI is the imaging modality of choice. Obviously pancreatic cancer is the big one, and this can be diagnosed with pre and post-contrast MRI sequences.

Pancreatic cysts and adenomas are the usual benign lesions.

An ERCP looks at the pancreatic ducts and biopsy of any pancreatic lesion can be performed with EUS. Post the Ultrasound report if you can.

As we have discussed, gallstones are common and it's usually obvious if they are causing problems. Best of luck.

Hi Susan,

I'm sorry you're having such discomfort and concern. Do you have the results from your two scans? Malcolm will be able to comment specifically on those results. The gallstones aren't an issue really, unless they drop down into the Common Bile Duct, which you haven't mentioned. I would get the testing process completed first and then get the advice of your doctors. Do your best to keep positive and wait until you have a more defined diagnosis. Getting upset won't make the time between tests easy for you, but be confident that you can take care of any situation presented. I'm sure Malcolm will be along shortly to give you his impression. Please keep us updated.

Hi All,

Kind of scared after my second scan for HCC a couple of weeks ago.  There is a lesion on the head of my pancreas that has "minimally enlarged" since my last scan.  I also have some gall stones.  .  I've been having pain on my right side for a while.   My clinical trial director called me to set an appointment after I had seen a local gastro for the pain. I just had the scan a couple of weeks ago. Then I had a scan with contrast after the other scan.   Both seemed concerned. Didn't expect a call from Cheryl (clinical trial director)  Think the consult is for a special endoscopy.  My liver is fine.  Anyone have any knowledge about pancreatic lesion ???

SuziQ
