Hi RC,

so sorry to read your news. Your attitude is so inspiring though. Just immediately looking around for round 3, rolling your sleeves up, taking a big breath and getting ready for the next battle.

It seems as though you've chosen not to let it mess with your head. Im sure they'll get it next time.

Hopefully round 3 won't need either interferon or riba and your viral, load is very low now. Does that make a difference?

Thinking if you,

Syd

RC,

What a shock that is to hear. I'm sorry buddy, but GT3 is a bear sometimes. The newer protocols, minus the Interferon and Ribavirin are going to be your answer. You did your very best, it's a failure of the drugs, not you. I know that's not much of a consolation prize, but knowing you did your best, counts. I have little doubt that with your genotype and history, they'll be ready with the right ammunition the next time you go to battle!

We're here for ya....

I'm sorry to hear this Robert. I know you feel very little hope right now but this too shall pass. There will be better options ahead so hang in there. The way I've been feeling lately I'm thinking I might have relapsed again too. But if so we will just take the next step and keep fighting. Although I know this road is a long one for you your SVR will come. Keep us up to date on what you find out next week. We're with you ALL the way!

Now you're talkin!! One of my all time favorites, the 57 Chevy... I think we should buy that and each of us get to run it down the track after SVR. Kind of like the life of our Dragon. Starts out roaring and spitting flames and at the end, flames out and goes silent.......

That's good news RC. AST 44 / ALT 86 sounds a lot better than AST 93 / ALT 242 and that looks like you'll likely see that UND Friday too. I know you can't wait till then and I'm anxious to find out too. We may have to have a little 'SVR-4' party to get warmed up for April. Fingers X'ed.

Good news today.   Yesterday I went to Seattle for my 4 week post blood draw, I just got a call from my study nurse, she said that my ALT is 86----my AST is 44    The HCV-RNA results won't be back untill Friday next week, but she said this is a very good indication that this treatment round worked. The ALT is high, but with cirrhosis they expect it to stay higher than normal . My numbers going into round two were AST 146 &  ALT 239.  On my first treatment with SOF-RIBA in 2014 at my 4 week post my ALT was 242 and my AST was 93. Load was 13 million. I relapsed!!  Looks like the Interferon was the kick in the butt I needed This time?

It's early I know but I think round two did the job.     RC

Hey RC,

I misread your initial post, my bad. When I saw EOT and undetected at week 8, my two brain cells equated that to EOT +8. I see clearly now and am still confident of your success. Me and the rest of the passengers on this train are looking forward to the upcoming station party! You have done everything by the numbers and obtained good reports along the way. You did your part, now it's up to Gilead. It's your time to shine! Continued good luck... smile

Congrats on finishing treatment Robert. Now we have a big double SVR party coming. I suspect we will both breeze right past EOT+4 with a continued UND so we need to concentrate on all the decorations and fireworks plans for the big party. What flavor cake do you want? What are you going to wear? What band are we going to hire for the music? What limo service? What type of food do we want from the catering service? Do you think it would be okay to bring my dog? I have a friend on the police department that I can ask to ignore any 'disturbing the peace' calls on us so we'll be good for all night. What else am I missing? Oh, why don't you bring a couple of your killer cars for the show too. Come on Robert - lets make this party one for everybody to remember! biggrin

Thanks Tig.  I would expect my week 12 results to be UND.  It's the 4 week post treatment I'm sweating!!  I will have that blood draw on Feb 4th.   My first treatment started on Feb 4 2014, it was Sof-RIBA 16 weeks, and I flunked the 4 week post treatment test. Hopeing this one goes a little better!!  RC

Hey RC,

WOOHOO BUDDY!! EOT +4 rates of success nearly equal +12 rates, so week 8, in my always brilliant (ha, ha) opinion, SVR is assured. My opinions have served me well, don't goof me up, lol! Congratulations Bob! I'm confident you'll get equally good news at week 12.

The doctor understands the cirrhotic liver well and the LFT elevations warrant monitoring, but they do indicate liver damage, which you still have. As long as you remain undetected, your liver will begin a repair process and I would expect that you will see reductions in those enzymes as your hepatic system starts to heal. I'm sure your private specialist will be taking over your care now that the study is done and will keep a close eye on your recovery and ongoing liver health. You will be required to have the ongoing 6 month ultrasound monitoring, so I'm sure regular blood tests will be part of that.

Let us know when you get your week 12 results, it looks like a win to me!!!

Last Thursday morning  I got up, popped 3 RIBA and one SOF and that was the end of treatment. Jumped into my truck and drove over to the trial hospital (200) miles away and had my EOT blood draw.  Got my 8 week resulets, still UND. But my alt 95, ast 64 both still high?   Dr said was because of cirrhosis.  Anyone have any thoughts on this?    It's nice to be done with the treatment.   RC

Hooray Robert! Another 144 hours and you will be a free man. And 12 weeks after that will prove it. I also have 6 more days of Tx left so we will both be throwing a double big SVR party the end of March. We'd better get ready to break out the grave digging boots and shovels because we'll have 2 dead dragons to bury. biggrin

ALRIGHT!!!!!! You're almost there RC, well done! Clean up the leftovers with the remaining Riba and then throw out the water, bucket, mop and all when it's gone. I'm ready to start the celebration Brother, it's your turn. We've got some others nearing their own EOT, so the SVR's are going to start rolling in soon. Good job buddy....

Hey RC,

Hey Brother, it's good to hear from you! One more dart and done, that's what I want to hear. The sides are miserable most days, I remember well. You'll start feeling much improved, just keep putting one foot in front of the other. Stay compliant and make sure you finish the whole script too! Had shot 11 today, only one shot in the frig to go!  I can almost see the bottom of the Riba bottle, and the Sof jug is getting low!!!   It seems like the last couple weeks have been the toughest.   All said I have 14 days to go.  RC

I told you so, I told you so. biggrin That's good news Robert and it goes to show the meds are doing their job. Your dart board might be getting bigger and I'm sure your aim is getting better too. You should be throwing bulls-eyes blindfolded by the time EOT gets here in Jan. Keep up the good work!!!

Hey RC,

BIG WOOT!!!! That made my day smile Congrats old friend, you deserve this good news and I'm happy to share your joy. I know you must be busting! This is just the beginning of good things to come, I'm sure of it.

I used a bullseye type of pattern around my belly button for my dart practice. Once in a while if I had a rash (irritation) from the previous week's shot, I'd use a thigh, but preferred my abdomen. I noticed an odd reaction a couple of months into it though. I started to notice indentations in the spots I used most frequently. I remember another member mentioning that happening. So I made sure to move away from those areas. I had plenty of belly to inject, so that wasn't a problem!

You mentioned gaining some weight? I lost it by the bucketful. When I was finally through, I had lost over 50 pounds. I had it to lose, so I was pleased that I lost it and the viral freeloader. I was sick most of my treatment, so I wasn't eating well at all. If you're still able to eat and keep your strength up, that's a good thing imo. You can lose some weight after you're rid of the beast. If you can get through treatment, you can do anything you set your mind to! Keep it moving forward RC, you're going to beat it!

5.3 million to <15, that's awesome. And everything else going as expected so that's good Robert. You'll likely be UND Friday. Keep up the good work.

Shot #5 done last thursday 11-12-15. Went over to study Hospital that same day for my week 4 blood draw, will get those results by this friday (11-20-15).  My week two results are as follows. ast-64,alt-108, br-1.0,  V/L- <15, Plat"s-94, HG-13.4, Lipase-104, amylase-101

My ast has gone from 146 at screening to 64, my alt has gone from 239 to 108, My load has gone from 5.3 million to <15, platelets have droped from 142 to 94, and HG has droped from 15.9 to 13.4

Last time on treatment with sof-riba my hg went from 15.0 to 13.3 at the lowest point of treatment, so im not to worried about this. My platelets on last treatment went from 144 to 98, Im not worried about this .

I"m doing pretty good on this treatment, Just a couple ruff days after the shot, and the usual SX from the Riba.  I dont  think there are any SX from the Sof?

Anyone else out there on this treatment? sof-peg-riba  please chime in and tell us how your doing!!   RC

RC,

My last 2 RNA results said that too, but then went on to say Not Detected.  Here's what it looked like.  I hope yours ends up this way too.
