Hi Zlikster, all looking good there.  I can see that the Riba is starting to have an effect, but look at those liver enzymes dropping!!  There`s no doubt that the drugs are working!

How are you feeling now?

So it's similar to USA system? private+medicare combo? To be honest, i prefer universal health care (single payer), than all this mess with private vs state insurance. For ER servuces i do not expect to be difference between rich n poor (or there is)?

just got my blood results today (still no PCR result tho). RBCC is going down, much faster then i have anticipated :/ How is your blood doing?

Thanks for link Zlikster.

looks as though cirrohsis is more important factor than length of treatment. I just hope that because I'm a treatment naive and  Genome 2 my odds are better than in the 50%.

anyway not to worry, it only makes the weeks go more slowly and you can't enjoy the days you're actually experiencing.

our Medicare system here is quite complicated, it started off being universal health care for all .this means that when the drugs go on the PBS everyone will have access to of them. Low income earners on a health care card will get them free. The rest of us will pay a maximum of $37.50 per prescription. Since the early days private insurance has become a key part of the system. This costs maybe $3000 pa for a family and there is a minor tax benefit for having it. If you need non urgent surgery or want to have your own specialist then you can but there is a gap fee to pay. Without private cover you go in waiting lists to get into hospital.  In the US employers seem to often hook the bill for private cover but that isn't the case here.

What is good is that whether you are a wealthy business person or someone homeless in the street and have both just suffered a heart attack, the same ambulance system takes you to the same hospital where the same surgeon will treat you.

Cheers, Syd

Cheers Dave, Jill, Malcolm (again spring time here, all snow melted away grrrrr)

@Liam, yeah mate, getting there finally, hows your post tx/svr life? :)

@Syd, yeah heard the news that new DAAs will be on PBS from 1st of March? Still i presume noninsured folks will opt in for generics? PCR here is on w4, w8, w12, eot+12w (for 12w tx), tho i am not insured so i pay for each one. Wanted to do w2 too, but think there is no need for it. You are on 12w Sof+Dac+Riba right? It will be ok, don't worry, tho since you are cirrhotic, maybe better option would be 24w of Sof+Dac only. Take a look at this study. GT3 tho, but still interesting results (espec. for cirrhotics @ 24w Sof+Dac vs Sof+Dac+Riba):

Hi Zilkster,

i just looked through your posts and saw how much work you put into getting your meds.

I'm proud to be in the same caariage. And yes, I did some homework on Inerferon and it sounded too hectic for me. Im glad I waited even though my liver is really damaged. A prior history of anxiety and depression plus all the physical symptoms scared me off.

So congrats on surviving that and I hope that this combo works for both of us. My next bloods will be taken next week and I'll have the results at week 8 on Friday 5th.

They only seem to do the viral load tests here three times: once at week 4, next at end of treatment at week 12 and again 6 or is it 12 weeks after that.

i was hoping I could ask for a viral load test at week 10, that way the results should be back by end of week 12 and I could just soldier on for another 12 weeks if it's still viral load detected. The drugs will be on the PBS here by then so cost would be $120 a month v $1200 which is what I paid for my Indian generics.

I think the answer will be no as they are into protocol more than common sense and the viral load tests must be expensive.

So, yes, like you, my end of treatment result will be like winning the lottery if it's Viral Load Undetected.

Take care and i look forward to seeing more posts on your progress.

Syd

Hi Zlikster,

Great looking numbers, mate, especially the ALT. You don't need a VL, you'll be Undetected.

Look forward to your SVR. You must really miss the Peg this time! Cheers- sorry for the lack of snow.

Looking good Zlick! You're on your way to "SVR4EVER" this time so keep up the good work. You may even get lighter and feel younger as a bonus, can't promise 'prettier' though... biggrin Post that w4 UND result when you get it.

cheers Jill, Dave, Syd :)

i am approaching w3 now. Still no PCR results from lab on base pre tx VL :/ Soon to do w4 one. Other blood results from w2 are in. Things are looking good. Riba still hasn't accumulated enough to hit my HgB n RBCC, so still can take large breaths and ski (no proper snow yet tho).

 PRE TXw2
ALT4825
AST3728
HgB156154
RBC5.285.12

Compared to interferon ride, this is a really smooth n easy one. I imagine without Riba i wouldn't even notice i am on any medications :) I bet Sof+Vel in one pill in few years time (generic from India for us "not poor enough" for Gilead) will be new standard and world be hcv free in 10 years time. Can't wait for PCR results and face on my hepa to see how those "indian whoknowswhat generics" are doing proper job, hoping she will start to treat her cirrhotic patients after me ;)

hi Zilkster,

I too have type 2 and got my sof/dal/ Riba from Greg Jefferies. I starated 12 week treatment on 12/11/15 and have just got back my 4 week blood test which shows remarkable turn around in liver inflammation. Viral load test still underway.

Good luck on your journey.

biggrin

Hi Zilk,

Thanks for the encouraging words.

Yes, I feel fortunate that of all genotypes I contracted type 2b (if, indeed, one can be fortunate about any type of HCV).

Now if I can just get approved for Tx I'll be on the express train to SVR! (I should know in a month or so ... just waiting, of course).

You sure have been tenacious in your pursuit of the drugs you need to " kick it's arse", my hat is off to you ... now be that tenacious in treating yourself well during and after Tx and you've got this for sure as well.

Be Well,

Dave

Cheers Dave,

Where did u get GT2a? Would gladly swap my GT3 for GT2 :)

You GT2s are very lucky folks (if you can call someone lucky with hcv). 12w of Sof+Riba (or better if you can get your hands on Sof+Dac+-Riba) and your chance is over 95%. U will kick it's arse i am sure :)

best!

Cheers Mike & Malcolm,

yeah i have been chasing Sof (and later Dac, or even more recently Velpatasvir) for last 2 years. I can't say enough of thank you to all folks that helped me get my hands on meds. My patient friends pharmacologists who were communicating and checking out all CoAs from China, all the exceptionally nice people at RB institute @ Zagreb, Croatia who did NMR spectroscopy (and refused to be paid for it!) to verify indian Sofosbuvir, Bob from this forum who sent me 5 original pills of Sovaldi so i can use as base model for verification, Greg who connected me and my fellow generics meds seeking friends with a trusty connection in Chennai, India, Dr.James Freeman who helped me get prescription and generics meds in Sydney, my friends and people who smuggled pills, Happy77 for sharing the generics path and meds, and all you wonderful people on this forum who have been supporting me thru all these years. I now have, beside clearing my hcv, battle ahead with my doc, to try n persuade her to treat other patients with generics and not just myself as an "exception" to her rules. Hopefully my 2nd or 4th week negative PCR will change her mind. Abbvie is lobbying to get into Bosnia with discounted ViekiraPak, but i doubt it will be cheap or available to all hcv patients.

(and big thanks to Mr.Jeremy L Clarke whereever you are, for inveting PSI-7977)

Congratulations on getting your meds Zlikster! You've worked hard to accomplish that and, with that kind of determination I have no doubt that you will beat that Hep C dragon this time. It will be a pleasure to watch your progress during the 12 weeks and to celebrate your SVR report soon afterward. Now give that dragon hell!!!

Hey it's going great! It didn't reverse the clock and allow me to wake up 20 years younger and better looking, but my liver tells me looks aren't everything, lol! One member comes to mind and I'll try to kick my feeble brain into gear for some others on your protocol. Our member Basser, from the UK, was successfully treated with it. Here's his profile, give him a ring, he's a very kind and informative individual. I'm sure he'd have some good advice.

hey Tig!

hows HCV free life going on? ;)

yeah 12 weeks will go in a blink. I am not sure about Riba, when your doc says u need it cause "she doesn't trust indian generics" (little she knows Riba is also from India heheh). Nevermind, i miss some riba rage ;) hopefully i will be an example to her, so she can start treating her other patients with generics, cause atm i am the only one and she is refusing anymore patients to go with generics meds, which is sad, cause i would presume her cirrothic patients would love to give it a go.

Anyone else on this forum went with Sof+Dac+Riba? Just curious about intake timing. I have opted for Riba in the morn (w. breakfast), Sof+Dac (at same time) in afternoon and Riba (12hrs later) in the evening. Thinking of some light supplements (Vitamin D + omega 3), but will wait for first blood test first.

cheers!

Hey Zlick,

WOOHOO Buddy!!!! Man, this is great news! I just turned on this box and your message was #1 for the day. What an outstanding way to start it my friend! Congratulations for sticking to it and fighting for your right to be treated. You were willing to go to the ends of the earth to do this and you succeeded in getting the #1 protocol to beat your Dragon back to the stone age. Well done Brother!

While you don't need the Ribavirin, what the hell, might as well go for it. It's part of the cirrhotic protocol, so it's not something unusual in the treatment of GT 3. After all you've gone through to get treatment this time, I'd probably chug a gallon of gator pizz if I thought it would work (excuse my colorful language). 800 isn't weight based and I'm curious about that, but it's still a potent dose. Malcolm will probably have some thoughts on this as well. The 12 weeks will go by fast and I'm looking forward to seeing you here throughout treatment. It's great to have you back in the saddle again!

BIG WOOT!!

Hi folks,

today is my first day of this new tx. 12 weeks of Sofosbuvir (400mg) + Daclatasvir (60mg) + 800mg Riba (non weight based). I have obtained Sofosbuvir and Daclatasvir (via Dr.Freeman) from Australia (NMR verfied chinese APIs compaunded in Sydney) and 160pills Ribavirin from India (Mepro) and 168 pills of Copegus about to be obtained. My hepatologist is very skeptical of any "indian generics" whether licensed or not, but she will guide me (unofficially) thru tx. I do object her request for Ribavirin addition, since she said it is only cause she doesn't trust quality of DAAs i have, not cause of my liver condition asks to use Riba.

I am F1/A1, S0-S1, awaitng results from pre tx PCR. My liver enzymes are AST 37, ALT 48, GGT 31, ALP 62 so i think my liver is in a decent condition. Haven't done fibroscan for more than a year now, nor PCR, on US there is only some left part of liver enlargement and some steatosis. I have relapsed in 2013 after 24w of Riba+PegIntron, with permanent ear damage (tinnitus) from interferon. This should be easy peasy and i miss being cranky from Riba :)

I will post here results as i get em, hopefully it can be useful to someone. If anyone needs info on generic meds or how and what routes i have tried to obtain em (and what i have verified in lab) PM me.

big thanks to all folks on this formu who have given me support while i was on last tx, hope you are all SVR4EVER and doing good!

cheers!
