Great results TK,

depending on the lab's type RT PCR LLOQ treshold (eg. in my hosptial it's Abbot with 12 IU/ml LLOQ), thats barely detectable. W4 will be UND i am 100% sure ;)

and baby liver smooth ALT and AST too ;)

2 weeks results are in.

Alt-19

Ast-21

VL- <15 detected

So I guess the only way it gets better is <15 undetected?

I'm not really sure what the difference is between the two? Anyone?

Day 21 today! 25% of treatment is done and besides only getting about 5 hrs of sleep a night, I feel fine. I'll post up my 2 week blood work as soon as I get it (probably Thursday). I hope everyone is doing well!

Thanks for the kind words everyone! It feels really good to have normal liver levels for the first time in more then 15 years. And since I was under 15 after 7 days and today was day 16 I'm probably already totally undetected. I had my 2 week blood work done yesterday so next week I'll have those results. Then I'll have week 4 test, week8, week 12, then 12 weeks post tx and 24 weeks post. I truly believe gilead hit a home run with the velpatasvir! I can't feel the dragon taking its last breath!

Hey Rich

Great to read of your first lab tests, your VL is right where is should be (so low that it can hardly be detected) your going to do just fine.

Wow! That's incredible! I think you fell into your own pot of gold, outstanding news. Let us know when you hear the rest. The ALT/AST are superb. Can you feel that big old smile coming from that happy liver? Or maybe it's the frown of a soon to be defeated Dragon. Congrats on the great news! smile

Wow this does sound exciting Super Harvoni and Bullet Train, I know I bitched at Gilead a lot. But I am grateful to be cured. With all this new stuff coming out maybe the prices will have to come down. Anybody know if they are coming down? If this is more expensive than Harvoni? Will insurance cover it the same way? Something to think about?

Best of luck TK if Wasn't cured I'd be right there with you  Be safe and be cured

BillS

Going back down here I see it is  a Gilead drug  Hmmm forget what i said about the price things  lol

Super Harvoni sounds great  best of luck TK

Hi Everyone,

Well today is day 14 on the sof/vel. And I'm very happy to report thst I still have absolutely zero side effects! I realize it doesn't make for very good updates but I'm sure some people may get some comfort from knowing sides are not always an automatic thing with these meds. I go in for my 2 week blood work tomorrow at 11am. I'm really hoping my 1 week vl test is back, but they did mention it takes like 5 business days for the vl test results. 14 hour work day today for me, hope you all have a great day!

Sounds like everything is going the best way possible, keep it up! I'm curious to know your results too, so keep us up to date. Good luck and enjoy your time as the Energizer Bunny!

Rich, Looks like  you pulled a good arm on the trial.  24 weeks will get the job done. At week 10 in my last trial I had a molar/filling fall apart. With just two weeks to go I dident want to rock the boat, so I kept it to myself. Yesterday I spent 2 hrs in the Dentist chair having a crown build up and a temp installed. Had that happened early in treatment I would have reported it to the study and they would have OK"d antibiotics .  It was just so close to the end of treatment,it did not hurt,so I decited to get it done at the end of treatment.

Glade your feeling well, and able to work. Daily noon atom bombs going off ! That sounds good!  Keep up the good work.  RC

Hey Rich,

How's that tooth? Hang in there bro, sounds like you're on the smooth road to success. Aside from that damn tooth, you're doing great!

PS: I've got a hammer, chisel and pliers if you need help with that tooth. Oh, I also have a Dremel with diamond bits, we could have you fixed up in no time, lol! We have pulled the teeth out of a few Dragons around here, so you'll be well taken care of, promise! biggrin

Sounds good Tk,

Hhope you got the tooth problem(s) all fixed, I recently went through a whole round of tooth problems but got everything worked on and am back in service now.

Glad to hear that there are virtually no side effects so far with this Tx, that's a big plus!

Thanks for keeping us posted. May you experience smooth sailing the whole journey.

Day 5 So five days in and can honestly say I have had zero sides I can attribute to the meds. If there were a placebo arm in this trial I would think I was in it. Can't really notice any positives either except maybe a bit more energy and focus. I go in for 1 week labs on wed. Hope everyone has a great upcoming week!

Hey Rich,

I feel for ya brother! I think it was about week 4 that I had a tooth split in two under a crown and the nerve was comprimised. I was dying from pain. I saw an oral surgeon because my dentist was afraid that my low white count and platelets would cause trouble for both of us. I was on the old stuff and it made a difference then. But my hepatologist said that it was fine, gave the oral surgeon the okay to start me on Amoxicillin and pulled the tooth. I had no problems at all and it had zero affect on my treatment. Just make sure you start eating yogurt while on those antibiotics, your digestive tract will thank you for that! Good luck buddy or should I say "Toothy"? smile

Hey everyone! Today's day 3 and I don't have much to report in the way of sides or anything. I do look forward to noon each day to take the pill, I feel like I'm dropping an atomic bomb on the virus every time I swallow one..lol. Question for people who have been there. I think I may have an infection in one of my teeth causing much pain and swelling. I need to go to a dentist but was afraid to go on an antibiotic while on treatment. I emailed the trial coordinator and she said antibiotics were ok besides clrithromizan, (sp) and enythromizian. Anyone else had to take say amoxicillin while on treatment?

Daclatasvir killer lol. My doctor did refer to velpatasvir as "super harvoni" today! And Linux, yes this is a pan genotypic drug, and I will be getting almost weekly blood work so everyone will have a really good idea how this stuff works.

Hey Tk,

If I'm not mistaken, sof/vel is what may soon be marketed for across the board genotype cure (non-genotype specific).

If so, that should be a definite dragon killer.

Re: fibrosure test I'm guessing you mean .029, which is very good, you'll be killing the beast before it even leaves a bad scar on you.

Just think, in 24 weeks you can officially achieve SVR ... right on!

Your documentation will help others down the road, wishing you the very best of luck my friend.

Be Well,

Linux

Edit: Ya "pan genotypic" ... what he said ... blankstare.gif ... lol.

:) great man, let us know how it goes. There are huge expectations for Velpatasvir as Gilead's "Daclatasvir killer".

best

So this is it, I was randomized to the 12 week arm of sof/vel and took my first dragon bomb at 12 noon today. I'll update my most recent bloods in my sig later, but my fibrosure test done 2 weeks ago was a .29 or F1, and VL was 509,000. I got caught up in the moment and forgot to ask my lft results, but I go back next week so I'll be sure to get them. This thread will serve as my tx log including sides, updated tests, etc. I really look forward to the world of SVR and the land of the dead dragons!
