Oh goodness, RC, I shudder at the thought of all those needles coming at you from all directions!

I`m glad you enjoyed the rest of your trip to Seattle anyway and rounded it off with a delicious dinner, very nice!

Let us know when you have some information about how the MRI looked.   Good to hear you sounding so positive, I`m sending over a load more good vibes as well.. smile

Geez, you pin cushion you. I always get a CD too and although they are really cool to look at, I never can find my spot that the doctor is concerned about. I hope you have better luck. I went for an MRI on my back this morning without contrast, so no sticks were needed. I really felt like I just cheated them out of a 20 minute nap when I left Lol. When will you have access to the final report? And when will you go over the results with your doctor? I've got "Hi Hopes" for you RC! smile

OUCH!!!  SEVEN. (7) stabs at it and there finally in a vein!  Two on the top of the L-hand, two on the top of the R-h, two in the bend of the L-arm and then out comes the big gun with a 16g poker and after a little fishing in my R-arm we got a vein. ladys and gentlemen start your IV"s- let's get ready to rumble!!! Fire up the magnets, turn on the cooler, with squeeze ball in hand , let's get this done!!!   Take a breath and hold it, relax.   Most of us know the drill.

We spent more time starting the IV than it took for the MRI.  I'm always the one trying to put them at ease, telling them that it's not them but that everyone has trouble getting a vein on me. We casually laugh about it, as the beads of sweat start to form on there foreheads, then at some point they all seem to tear of the end of there index finger rubber glove to get a better feel, but that dosent help- Excuse me but I'm only allowed to try two times, to which I reply- don't be a quitter, you can do it just give it one more try. Still not working so on to #2 phlebotomist.3 attempts and were in!!

Sorry I got a little carried away there.  I walked out of there with C/D images in hand, no report but I do have the c-d so will be looking at than after this post.  Seattle was beautiful, had early dinner at the Fairmount hotel-  Great little sea food place called shuckers!

Im feeling good- hi hopes-Hi to all-----RC

Hey RC Ragdoll,

Glad they asked you back in for another MRI. When is your cardio work-up booked?

About CC, negating being on the wait list? - I actually read somewhere, the opposite.

Glad you posted the MRI pic differently., it was too small before, but still it doesn't help me figure it out/see it/locate it well tho, sorry.

Wish your docs fingers would point to the spots!

Remember, a while back, I revealed that none of you knew it, but that I dragged you right along with me into my specialists office for all my appointments??? Well, you know you got company brother, you need a bigger bus for these trips to Seattle! Should the room get crowded, just explain same to your doc, that we are a large, unruly but well meaning crowd who happen to be hanging on his every word and move - but, no pressure eh!!!! C.

RC,

I so hope they can find a suitable liver for you and that this journey ends up a success story. It certainly will if your attitude is anything to go by. Just quietly assimilating the information and getting on with the task of being a patient. You are an inspiration. Your calm and positivity must have a beneficial impact on your health. Good to know too that your dr team is so committed to going that extra mile for you.

Big hugs to you and Chris.

Hi RC,

That`s a lot to take in, and it`s perfectly understandable that you`ll need time to absorb the information and reassess where you are in your treatment at every stage.

As always my thoughts are with you and Chris, and I send heartfelt good wishes in your direction.   Thankfully you have an excellent and very caring medical team in your corner and they`re clearly working hard to find the best way through this for you.

Keep your spirits up, you have a lot of fishing and golfing trips to plan!  smile

Hi All-  I have been quiet the last couple days- as it all settles in. Tomorrow  I'm going back over to Seattle for a MRI. It's been 3 months since my first tumor/gallbladder operation and they think the one they missed has grown to over 2cm, so they are looking at that one, and also to see how they did on the ablation in segment 6 on 8-3-16. My Dr Team thinks because of the small size of the tumors that I may still be able to get on the transplant list, even with two types of liver cancer. From what I have read on cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) they don't transplant with this type of cancer? This shows how much my Dr Team is pulling for me.If it can be done they will do it. 3 months ago the tumor in segment 5 was something like 1.6 cm, when they did the ablation on 8-3-16 they took a look at segment 5 with ultra sound and the Radiologist said the tumor was now over 2cm. It's growing and my main Dr wants to see it. As far as I know this will be the next one to get blasted, and they are also watching one in segment 4a, it's gone from .4mm to .9 mm in about a year. If things go as I think they will, I will be going back over in a couple weeks to have segment 5 ablation done.Thank you everyone for your prayers, they help!!       RC

Hi RC,

Your golfing trip sounds like it was amazing, and must have done you both a world of good to be out there in the tranquility and beauty of nature!

So many good times to look forward to together, and I wish you the very best of luck with all this.  I`m sure it must have come as a dreadful shock to hear about another cancer being detected, but I agree with Chis that it has to be a good thing that the tumours were discovered early and that they are treatable.

You`re both in my thoughts.. and I`m sending big hugs to you both.  Keep on keeping on and stay strong... xx

Hi RC,

you and Chris are an inspiration. Enjoying the here and now is what it's all about and you keep reminding me of that.

I'm hoping they get anything that shouldn't be there, whether it's name's long or short, with their special ablating weapon.

Big hugs to you both.

Can you see the HCC in segment 5, it has the vein growing to it and around it, it's encapsulated?? That's the one they are going after again. This pic is before the first attempt.RC

That sounds like a great day, RC! Sounds like Chris is a pretty decent golfer. I'd be lucky to be just under 200, lol!

I have been through Leavenworth on a couple of occasions. It's a beautiful place! They throw quite a big Christmas bash too. Fly fishing the Wenatchee sounds like a pretty cool thing to do as well. Enjoy...

Hi all, Played 9 holes today. In the beautiful town of Levenworth Wa. Had to stop play at hole #10- my side started hurting?  I'm ok, I caddied for Ragdoll and she shot Under one hundred. It was a great day to be outdoors. The Wenatchee river runs through the course , you can see the River rock bottom through the clear water. I imagined myself casting a nymph fly to a fish waiting just  outside the ripple in the water!! it was beautiful . Years ago I fly fished extensively. I will be getting back into that very soon. Life is beautiful.  RC!

Hi RC,

Our thoughts are with you, it's good that they found the other, they'll deal with that and you'll be back on track, taking steps toward HCV Tx. This too will be behind you soon, you've got the A-team of doctors, Chris is fighting right along side ya ... we aren't going anywhere, you've got this ... we're sorry to hear that you caught another hurdle, it does suck, but you'll clear it and show us all how it's done.

Wishing you the very best,

Dave

Greetings Brother RC.

As is usual, I want to look at things from a different angle.

Indeed you have the conditions and there is no doubt that is extremely troubling and worrisome.

But please consider how many folks out there are oblivious to problems they may have. They are defenseless because they know not an enemy lurks.

Please do your best. Try to see it through the eyes of how much your problems are brought to the forefront. Once there for all to see then and only then can a plan be laid to deal with it. You have a great Medical Team.

RC my brother, my prayers are not smoke ascending to no where, they go up to God who loves and cares for His children.

Set aside time to thank Him. This is not always an easy task, so just to help you, if I may, consider your wife. Ask while looking at her, "has God blessed me?".

Clear will be the answer and just as surely as your eyes right then will swell with tears, be assured, He knows what He is doing, even when we don't.

Some may object to my belief and to them I would like to assure each, I mean no offense. Quietly object please and remain silent. This is for my brother. There is no one here who I would not offer the same for because I care for you all.

Warm Regards

JimmyK

Hey RC,

You can't catch a break Brother. It's time to change all that and I think that now is a great time to start. Chris is right, stay positive and do exactly what your healthcare team instructs you to do. Stay in constant contact with them and make sure they know you have each of them on your speed dial.

One day at a time, RC. You know this won't be resolved overnight, but your attention to detail and that of your doctors, assures us it will be resolved. You have a big fan club and cheering section here. You may have to tell us to quiet down occasionally, not sure that will help, but you can try!!

RC Yes, this does suck, but we must stay positive.  The thing you have going for you is that these where found very early and that they have been watching for 2 years and really have not changed much in size.  We can have them ablated  and hope and pray no others pop up for a while.   Also, Dr. is now open to getting HCV treated so that will be good too.  We must remember you feel better and getting back on your feet, golfing, fishing and enjoying life.  What I have learned thru this so far as that we must all be active in getting regular MRI imaging done as even with SVR we can have things change as we get older.....AND new R & D is going on for HCC And  Cholangiocarcinoma (CC)  treatments and remember what treatment options were available just a few years ago for HCV compared to all the new DAA'S today.    Keep up the good fight.  Love You.   CC. ( Not sure I like my initials anymore).

Hi All--  Got a call from my Dr. Last nite!  Wasn't what I expected. Wasn't what he expected, he said he didn't see this one coming.  The biopsy showed a second kind of liver cancer called-  Cholangiocarcinoma--  that's the long name for bile duct cancer.

HCC and Cholangiocarcinoma -That may well put the brakes on a liver transplant because of the second cancer.

Next step is to have the tumor in section 5 ablated, as soon as possible. hopefully next week!!

This sucks.    RC

Hi RC,

Each of these steps gets you closer to where you want to be ... I think the heart work up is your excellent team being thorough. Wishing you the best through the TACE and the heart work up. We're on this journey with ya, it's got to be disappointing at times but you are moving forward and you really have been up to the challenge every step of the way, you're doing exceptionally well in rolling with the punches. You're going to get through this, it's tiring but it's obvious that you are managing to keep doing things that you enjoy (your shop, fishing etc) ... all good stuff, my friend.

Prayers and best wishes,

Dave

Oh my, RC.  You've got some serious patience.  I'm so sorry you have to go through all of this.  It sounds like you are putting one foot in front of the other every day.  What else can you do but sway with tide and apply the solutions.  Great that they got the tumor. I'm wishing you a speedy recovery, continued solutions, and a catch net full of salmon.  Rest well.

Hellow all, I was sitting around sat nite and at about 7:30 I got a e-mail from my online hospital chart saying I had a test result ready for viewing.  It's the biopsy results- POSITIVE for HCC. No big surprise , it's what I was expectin. This was the tumor that went from a l-Rad 3 to a 4 in a very short time.  The Dr thinks he got it all, so thats better than the complete miss on the first one!!  Looks like I will wait for my next set of marching orders from the Radioligest, which will be a TACE Procedure, or a alcohol oblation, the alcohol treatment is old school but may be the best way out for me, I hope.  The TACE could waist valuable liver tissue, which I don't have much to spare!! I want to stay compensating with my own liver as long as I can. Now there talking about a heart work up, stress test and heart cath. That's starting the transplant work up, boy that's gone be fun! This all started out about 3 years ago, all I wanted to do was get treatment and clear the virus, now it's all gone sideways and upside down.  Hanging in there--RC

That's great news RC. Sounds like you are getting good traction on your road to recovery, one step at a time. I'm jealous of your relationship with your medical staff. Wow, picked a rare straw there! Wishing you quick healing and more of the same steady progress coming up in the next 2-3 weeks. Happy fishing in the mean time...! smile

Outstanding news from you both! It's vital and reassuring to have a medical team that cares. Rare to have one that gives hugs! That kind of human interaction is getting rarer and rarer these days. Good information on the ablation, and the cancer diagnosis wasn't a surprise anyway. Knowing they have this under control and are so involved with you personally is very reassuring indeed. I'm pleased to know you are in such capable hands!

Rest and recover, both of you. I know this has been a stressful week. Steady as she goes.......  smile

HI everyone,  thank you so much for your kind words and support on this ride.   RC is doing  a lot better today, recovery is going smoothly.  Much better than last time.  Anxious for results of course.   Had a great meeting with our favorite Doctor the day after procedure.    He referred to RC as one of his favorite patients, so I said in the top 10  ?  and he said no in the top 5 and gave us a hugs.  He is so cool and so engaged with us.  We are so blessed to have him and all his staff on our team.  The financial guy came in room, the one who straightened out the insurance issue,  to meet us and more hugs.   I feel so safe with them all.   We feel blessed to have all of you too!  Hope all have a great week-end.  CC

Thanks Wendy.  I have been getting the boat ready for fall salmon fishing, I'm having a good time down in my shop tinkering with the boat.   I'm a little sore today, so I think I will just take it easy for now.  Like I said, wednesday"s  procedure went really well, one down and two to go. I could have the other tumor done in the next two to three weeks!!    RC

Hi all. Things went pretty good on Wednesday. The intervention Radiologist didn't have any trouble finding the tumor in section 6. He took a biopsy of the tumor, then did a microwave ablation to the tumor.  The biopsy was sent out for pathology, but he said based on what he has seen, that it is cancer.  The first HCC that they tried to ablate a couple of months ago is growing, and it's now over 2cm.  The plan is to go back and get the one in section 5 that now is over 2cm.    That will leave a smaller HCC in section 4 we will watch!!   I should get 28 meld points soon.   I'm a little sore from the procedure, but overall doing well. They tell me that I won't have any trouble getting this next ablation authorizatio. They will do a MRI in next few weeks to see how this last ablation did as far as killing all the tumor.   RC

Hi RC,

you have been so brave and selfless during this wait. Let hope they point that thing in the right place this time and manage to zap the bulls eye completely.

We are all thinking of you.

Nighty-nite RC and Ragdoll,

Thinking about you two today. Hope all went well as planned, and that you are now slumbering, in some relief, whether by help of analgesia (RC), or by the the fact that you are one major step further along in completing this marathon. Love to you both, smile C.
