Dave,

You deserve that happiness. Congratulations on becoming a former 2b, you have graduated to not 2b with honours.

I am always excited once someone wins the race and passes that finish line. I am nearly one month in, 8 more weeks seems a rather long time when I think about it, but only 4 weeks ago so did 12.

Happy SVR :D

Thanks for the kind words Dustbear!

I still don't think this has entirely "sunk in", to now be HCV-Free is a wonderful feeling and so achievable with these new and effective meds.

It's a good time for all.

Thanks,

Dave

LOL ... Yes, yesterday was a long one but I wanted to be done with Demo ... and am now.

Day off today will help, and with H2O - I WILL COMPLY! (save the batteries for now, lol).

Tomorrow is just a scouting trip to see what's available. They want to go with Cedar construction and Cedar is wonderful to work with and makes for a beautiful build.

It will be a pleasure to work with once we figure out where to get materials, I create a plan and elevations along with bill of materials then it's on to the barn building (well pergola building actually). Should be fun and I have until the end of August to get it done so plenty of time to take as many days off and I want/ need.

It's so nice to feel better, yesterday was long and tiring but I had a lot more stamina than I have for a long time and today I seem to be bouncing back quickly from the aches and pains that accompany manual labor. It's also very much on my mind to pace this whole thing (yesterday I just really couldn't stop until we go it done ... 4 year old and such there I couldn't leave soffits half demolished, had to make it safe, cleaned up and get that ugly portion of the job done (mission accomplished).

No, you're not the only one that get's dealt a "Can of Worms"  Tig ... it's the nature of home projects big and small. That's why the have bumper stickers that say "Stuff Happens"! (Or other variations of that). I think Gilda Radner said it best "  It's Always Somethin'  " LOL

I'm so glad to know that I'm not the only one that has luck like that! What should be a straight forward project seems to grow directions of it's own. Of course it waits until we have taken the first swing of the sledge hammer or cut of the sawzall. Fortunately, you're on the job Big D and it sounds like you've got things firmly under your control. Bees, wasps and 50 years of gunk be damned! I hope you're taking photos of the project. I'm anxious to see your craftsmanship!

Now just because you're done with treatment and successfully achieved SVR, don't think for a second that I'm not going to remind you that you have a few months of recovery to go. Continue the hydration and don't push yourself to exhaustion. It takes a while to recover all those 'Super Dave" muscles, regardless of your new found lust for life! The Drones are fully charged and just waiting for an assignment....

Hi All,

Hi Tig,

Back from the Demo trip, nothing is ever easy, is it?

The 27 ft x 14' structure actually came down as predicted. It was when I started to take off the part where it was attached to the house where I began to realize that this was not going to be your average "Out with the Old, In with the New". The fascia board (where gutter is normally attached but in this case where the Patio Roof was attached) was rotten. Well in order to get the fascia board off, the Vinyl Soffit had to come off, once the Vinyl Soffit was off the previous Wood Soffit had to come off the house and the wood framing that held the soffit (it was all integral and entwined). The soffit was filled with 50 years worth of roofing nail, attic insulation, tons roofing paper bits, dust, dirt, wasps nests, you name it, piled high inside so all that, of course, came dumping out as soon as I opened the soffit up. Finally got all of the above removed (that took some doing), quite the mess, So a Demo job that would normally take 4-5 hours turned into a 10 hour day ... but we got 'er done ... now I can design the new pergola (patio roof), pick up materials for new soffit and pergola and newly and correctly construct all of the above ... Whew!

Taking the day off, lazing around in my sweat clothes today.

Canuck, smile

Yes, amazing isn't it., to in 12 short weeks kill 9,816,581 dragons ... and every one fought to the bitter end ... but they are gone now, not a one to be found, extinct within the realm!    Yay!!

"former" 2b, "used" to be a 2b, "was" a 2b is Not To Be, for sure.

"virus free lad, in a virus free zone, who successfully escaped from riba land"  ...  Zero the Riba Renegade ...  LOL

Chris,

Thanks, it's actually taking a while to sink in. HCV is such a sneaky virus, it hides in the shadows and drains us constantly, but not enough so we really notice ... until that is the damage is done. Freedom from that beast is wonderful, not so noticeable all at once but I'm sure it will make a huge difference and stop the damage from proceeding and allow us to heal and regain what would otherwise be ours to begin with. It's taken 3 months to start to feel better. 3 more and I have no doubt I'll feel better yet.

You and RC have had a difficult journey but you too will see positive changes and soon. Your courage and strength throughout this war has been nothing short of amazing!

Our thoughts and prayers are with you both, your time will come and I can't wait to see RC achieve SVR. That will be a Grand Day for us All! smile

Dave

Hi Dave,

havent got words for how happy it has made me to finally see this post. Being on this journey with you has meant so much to me. From the RIBA days and your hilarious, heart breaking stories right up to the certainty you felt EOT that it had worked. Living through these stages with you ( right now I feel pretty confident I'm Svr too, although as mid August gets closer I'll be biting my nails.) as well as others, plus lovely SVRs cheering us from the side lines, has been a life saver for me.

Now, time to open that door, take a deep breath and enjoy the sunshine.

Syd

Aaaahhhh, F - I- N- A- L - L -Y! , drum roll ....... I love the way you teach me math ... 9,816,581 - 9,816,581 = 0. Such a relief for me to finally figure it out - I git it now! I am reaaly starting to get into math now (with your help)! Isn't math amazing, its true, it IS all in the numbers! So exciting!

I am very happy. You ARE a VERY good teacher. I am sorry I called you a big ole fat ZERO earlier, but I meant it in the nicest way. You have waaay graduated to a whole new class in my mind professor, you are now just a "former" 2b, "used" to be a 2b, "was" a 2b, (I am really into past tense lately as well, as you can see!), (and did you happen to note how much I sound like I am reciting Shakespeare just for you to show you how much more smarter you have made me!! ... "2b, used to be a 2b, was that a question"?), but now, you are just someone who has his walking papers, no longer has hep c, you are now just a virus free lad, in a virus free zone, who successfully escaped from riba land. Congrats (officially)!

Hmm, we need some new names, nicknames/monikers/avatars for you I think (aside from being a ZERO). biggrin C.

Hi Dawn,

It's been a while, how's it go for you?

Thanks for the kind words ... believe it or not, I'm pretty happy too ... LOL

SVR is in your, not so distant, future too ... hang in there.

My conclusion ... it just takes a whole lot of waiting ... anyone who can do that can achieve SVR smile

And how sweet THAT is!

Thanks,

Dave

Thanks Tig,

My Warrior Guide ... the service you (and others before you Jill, Malcolm et. al) provide here is absolutely Priceless.

Thank you ALL so very much, this site is what makes treatment so effective and SO much easier than trying to go it alone (I truly can't even imagine trying to do so).

It's just great to be able to share this wonderful news ... if I can lend an ounce of hope to those of you out there who are thinking about treatment, ready to begin treatment and those on treatment, I want you to know how very worth it treatment is. In spite of how long it may seem to take (lots of waiting, I know) it's over before you know it and the rewards are Absolutely HUGE.

Thanks Tig,

Dave

WOOHOO!!

How wonderful is that Big D? That qualifies for an out friggin standing my Brother Warrior! I knew this was going to be the case, but damn, it's nice to see it in writing isn't it? Big fat DUH on that question!!

You struggled a day or two, here and there and I had to invest in new batteries for all those Drones, but hey, it was a worthy expense just to keep an eye on you. We had to keep your spirits up and confidence suitably elevated to assure this optimum result. It's what we do here, making sure each and every one of us does their individual best. To say I'm thrilled would be an understatement Dave! You made my day buddy!

Hi Clayton,

Thanks ... yup, treatment is becoming extremely successful across the board (so sweet to see) ... you're on your way to wearing that HUGE grin very soon my friend ... I guarantee that before ya know it a HUGE weight will be lifted from your shoulders ... "Fighting Dragons is Hard Work" (that's actually a quote from JimmyK)  but it sure is worth the effort.

Thanks,

Thanks JimmyK!!

I don't know if those prayers ensured SVR or not but they DID help and in many ways, of that I am sure ... smile

My prayers are for your SVR and it won't be long, you're almost there.

The walk, this journey was made so much easier having you by my side ... the honor is all mine, my brother!!

Dave

Hi All,

Just got the news ... (Message below is from my Infectious Disease Doc's Nurse)

"Hepatitis C RNA PCR Quant (07/06/2016 10:06 AM)
Component Value Ref Range
Hepatitis C Quant Not Detected <=15 IU/mL

Congratulations! Sally has not seen this yet, but she when she does she will tell you that you are cured of the Hep C.

Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,
Jesse, RN"

(Note: Sally is my Infectious Disease Doctor)

How Sweet It Is!       > SVR <

Ya, I think I'll have a Great Weekend! (and a great Life!!)

Wanted to share the news as soon as I got it ...

It's been a long grueling wait to see those two precious words "Not Detected" but WE finally made it ... I say WE because you ALL were along for the whole she-bang and made it SO much better. Thank You ALL for that!!

To those not on treatment yet: Do whatever you need to do to Get on Treatment ... IT WORKS and is OH SO WORTH IT!

To those on treatment: Hang in there ... you too will be standing right where I am very soon.

To those who are already cured, Hallelujah!

And to those who are having a rough go of it (you know who you are), my every thought and prayer are wishing you the very best, may you very soon be doing better and be HCV-Free!!
