We've seen some very encouraging regression recently. They didn't think that it was even possible until recent years, but the truth is in the results. Our member, Malcolm, showed significant fibrosis regression following his last multi sample, (left and right lobe) biopsies. He was compensated and is now considered non cirrhotic. Let the good news roll.......

Wow, that's really encouraging!  The papers I've read, and I believe you have too Tig, report much more modest fibrosis regression.

I've managed to sweet-talk one of the nurses on the trial I'm on to do a repeat fibroscan at my EOT+24 appointment even though it's not part of the trial protocol.  6 months ain't that long but it'd be nice to see a little drop from my pre-treatment score of 9.1.

I believe he simply converted his Fibroscan score to the Metavir system. He didn't mention the actual FS results. The A/F system of scoring was all we used back in the day. It wasn't until FS became available that people started speaking in terms of KPa.

That's not his fibroscan score, Pablo. He was an A3/F3 on the METAVIR scale (score).

He's now an A0/F1....

Can someone explain to me the metrics used by TeddyTrout to explain his fibroscan results?

I'm more familiar with KPa 0-77.  Is there another system?  3.3 in the KPa system would be entirely normal.

Or did he mean FibroTest score?

Good luck Jack,

Amazing regression of the liver, not so great about the lungs and ex. I guess life throws the odd curve ball, but it means the door is open to new adventures.

Stay well and as Spook would say "prosper!"

Hi Jack

Congrats on your SVR x 3 years.

And sorry to hear about the split.  I've been through the same myself.  My only tip is to try and you the opportunity to do some things in life your former life didn't permit.  I now make my living from music...something I would never have even dreamed of a few years ago.  But sounds like you've got that one covered with your upcoming move.

But before you dash off to the sun can you tell us how you feel 3 years down the line?  Your fibroscan scores are great, but you have more energy etc?  I ask as I have just finished treatment.

Pablo

Hey Jack,

Good to hear from you again! You've been a big part of the forum since 2012 and your journey through treatment was long and arduous, but you prevailed. This report at 3 years is great news on the viability of SVR. Your A/F score is fantastic, nice reductions! Thanks for sharing the good news.

Your new life in the Grenadines should be quite the adventure. I haven't been there, but all those Nat Geo programs and Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, tell me you should have a great time in a beautiful place. If you're not a scuba diver or snorkeler, learn. There's nothing quite like diving in paradise and those islands are all of that. I wish you the very best in your new start.

Good luck and I hope you find time to let us know how things are going. Cheers!!!

Jack,

This is really good news to hear you are undetectable after 3 years!  That's also very good news about the fibroscan. Many of us are in the holding pattern and longing to learn that that news, let alone 3 years, so thanks for letting us know!

Now the COPD is not such good news.  I hope you have a handle on that.  I also hope that your new living situation results in peace and new adventures.  We all seem to get reset to "one step at a time."   That's a tough one.  Keep moving forward.

Best of luck, peace, and love to you, Jack.

Cheddy

Well all it seems I'm done needing a liver specialist after 16 years of dancing around with 3 different treatments and a host of side affects from the disease and the treatments. I had a FibroScan last month and I'm a 0,1 I was a 3,3 before my last treatment of the dreaded triple combo of 48 months. I I just have to live with me COPD now. The other side effect was that my wife has asked me to leave so as of this week I am legally separated but now I'm headed to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to live so I hope it evens out along the way. I think this will be my last post as well to this group and I wish everyone the best. Cheers Jack
