And why was I fearful?  I bit the bullet-got the result I was hoping for.

Now it's 4 months later.  I joined Weight Watchers in January.   I lost 28 lbs so far.  Harvoni was not the cause of my weight gain.  My nachos and breads and potatoes and fast foods were.

I have a new grandgirl as of Feb 2017.  Her Dad is envisioning Wonder Woman, and I say " what's wrong with rainbows and ponies and sunshine?".  But I digress....

Hey singsong,

Beauty EOT+24!!

Well!, had we only known, all it took was some prompting with sharp dental tools to git ya going for that good news, we wouldn't have pushed you so gently to drive into that parking lot! hee hee. Was it as hard as pulling teeth? Obviously it was at least as easy as having a root canal! I am so glad you have that EOT+24 weeks under your belt now. No looking back. It all a forward motion now. You are heading straight into that A+. Nice. biggrin  C.

You did it! Walked through all the fear. AND it was all worth it. Look at how strong you truly are. That is courage, walking thru it and coming out the other side. So happy for you lady!

Hi Anna,

Congratulations on your most excellent news! I just want to say, we told you so!! For the rest of your life, you'll remember a root canal gave you the strength to battle your fears. That's a first, but hey, whatever it takes! It's the outcome we expected, but it's always nice to see it on paper or hear it. Enjoy knowing you're cured...

Hello Tig and Canuck and any others that may just be reading through posts:

30 Weeks after EOT Still Undetected.  I had an unexpected root canal Tuesday, Jan 10.  I thought I was just going in for a consultation!  When I left I thought, heck, I got past the root canal, I should be able to go to the lab for the blood test and did.  Next day - they left message on my voicemail.  I wasn't expecting to hear for couple days.  It took awhile to sink in.  I'm still pinching myself!!  I also started Weight Watchers and am feeling good!!  The blahs are gone.  Sunshine and rainbows from hereon in.  Thank you All!!

Hi dear singsong,

Don't be in an uncomfortable state. Do it!. You'll feel better instantly (and then again!, when the und result returns to you). It will be a "double win", conquering that parking lot, and then again affirming that you killed the virus long ago .

You are now operating without the warmth of the harvoni security blanket, this will create another kind of blanket for you.

And us too, pushing you, do so with the softest comfort intended for you.

I'll wait right here until you post back that you are feeling the warmth wrap you again! smile C.

Glad to hear you decided to try that program, I too am attmepting to do some "disciplines" and classes that are supposed to be good for my health!!

Anna! How are ya?? Good to hear from you. smile

Now, you worked hard to get to this point, why are you avoiding the good news? Are you an eternal pessimist? I don't get that impression. You're absolutely right though, but you need to turn those numbers around. You have (according to ION study data and post Tx reports) a 94-100% chance, that's 9 1/2 people outa 10!! Come on! Get in there, you need to close this chapter and move forward. You'll be fine. You're feeling good, better than ever, and you admit to a healthy appetite. That sounds like living!

Next time you drive by the lab, turn in there. Park the car and take that next step. We'll be here to help you celebrate!!

I was supposed to go back for my 24wk EOT blood test after Thanksgiving, but I haven't done it yet.  I'm stalling.  Told myself I'd do it right after New Years and I still find myself driving right past the lab.

I don't know why I'm fearful.  That I'll be the 1 in 100?

I'm feeling much better though - feels like the good old days.  I did put on 20 pounds since I was on Harvoni and I haven't really changed my diet all that much.  While on Harvoni I developed a sweet tooth, but that went away after I quit the meds.  I did start Weight Watchers and went to my first meeting today.  Baby steps.

I like to check in once in awhile to see how all you good folks are!!

Hey Anna,

Nice, to have gone from B+ to A- already! And you haven't even had your EOT+24 week report card back yet! Inch by inch we keep winning!

I can't wait to hear your next report. biggrin C.

SF - just re-reading your post below about "having to ask" for a EOT+24 VL ... I can't believe what a dork he was! Good for you, in having to deal with him, and getting your 24 VL.

Atta girl, Anna,

You are getting your groove back!  It's not always easy, is it?  Nobody told us we would still feel complications after treatment.  I'm so happy you are improving and living life!  Just think if you hadn't beat this - argh.  It's a good time to give thanks, alright.

Looking at your bio, I see that you have learned to reinvent yourself.  Wow.  You've got some inspiring strength.

Glad you are feeling better.

Hi Anna,

It does take some time to get back to feeling normally. It's a slow moving recovery and it takes a while. Don't allow yourself to get discouraged, it will improve. Sometimes the disease has caused more injury than we thought and those issues can drag on. You have achieved a fabulous goal, SVR. Celebrate that, the rest will happen!

Singsong,

Cured. Off to Europe. You lucky thing. Oh this is soooo much better.

So, you figure you are "at" about 75 out of a 100? - well then, that makes you (by MIT standards) about a B+, not bad girl!

I would like  B+ too please! (Could you let me copy your homework please?)

 A+: 100   A: 90-99   A-: 80-89   B+: 75-79

And you haven't even had your EOT+24 week tests yet? I predict you are going to excel, A's are going to be coming your way. biggrin C.

I'm glad you're enjoying life! I wish I could afford a vacation like that, that sounds like fun to me. Never been to Europe, closest I got was Miami! We have a lot of Europeans here, so I guess that sort of counts, lol! Do you think those "fluid" days are due to all the water we made you drink on treatment? Water in water out!! biggrin

Take care and don't forget to check in often. We love hearing from you!

Thank you all.  Was off the site for awhile.  Went to Europe.  Days are fluid.  Mostly up.  I feel good for the most part.  Occasional blah's, but that's the extent of my Harvoni post treatment side effects.  Next month it will be 6 months EOT.  Anyone wondering about starting treatment and being concerned - I say "Dive in"...the sooner you start, the sooner HCV is behind you.

Oh, Anna, I'm so glad to hear that.

I had a big resurgence of energy, too.  It has varied a bit, but I am enjoying things I haven't for a long time.

This is exactly why we did all this.  This is how it is supposed to go.  The DAAs are improving and the torment is subsiding.  Please let us know how it continues to go.  If it's up and down, you have learned to relax through it.  You are cured.

Well done, my friend.  Now, go outside and play!

Warmest wishes from,

Cheddy

Great news and congrats.

I totally understand you wanting the EOT + 24! I am in the same boat as I just recently saw my specialist about my SVR and future plans. He said there was no reason to do the test and I just said, I would really really like it done. He asked if I knew when approximately when my EOT + 24 was to which I blurted out OCT 17  smile

After he asked if I was neurotic and I said `YES, he wrote out the Req to go along with my Ultrasound.

Why not, go for it. We deserve some peace of mind. Please keep us posted and enjoy your SVR

Congratulations Anna! That's the magic SVR12 that we all strive for. While a +24 week test is welcome, the fact is, SVR12 is considered a complete success. Your doctor is right, after SVR12, the chance of recurrence is less than 1/2 of 1%. (I like writing it that way, lol) Those are excellent odds indeed!!

You did it, WOOT! Enjoy that new Hep C free life.... smile

Got my SVR for EOT+12 yesterday. Still Undetected.  They want final test at EOT+24.  Doc said as of now the odds are 99.9% that it is history.  I like those odds!

Everyone is so supportive on this board.  Thank you!

I love the sense of "family" when I check in.  So many good people with encouragement always. If anyone wants me to talk to them or text them as far as fear of starting any treatment, just PM me and I will be your most fervent advocate.  This is not a disease to be scared of treating.  These are the best of times - as far as killing dragons! Congrats on every level. I don't think you should feel guilty at all. People took what was available at the time or decided to wait. The fact that people can take a cure and have no sides is what everyone wants. We all have a common goal, to cure, and the easier it is, the more likely people will seek treatment. Hep C has no longer become a fearful disease with uncertainty, it has become a curable pest that is easy to treat with fantastic outcomes (of course there are still the harder cases with lots of damage, but it is sad, but now hopeful.) Enjoy the freedom of regaining your health and we all celebrate with you. :D

Hi Anna,

that is such great news. Like you I am still waiting for the EOT 12. Theres the fear it may again have reared its ugly head, taking turns with a slight anti climax. I did RIBA but I still think, if I'm cleared, is that all it took to save my life?

So happy for you. I hope you're munching tasty canapés in a cocktail dress while you're in the holding foyer.

Syd

Great news Anna!

It's true, the side FX of Harvoni were so very tolerable for me as well. We are the lucky ones who did not have to go through the terrible times that so many did here.

I am thrilled you are UND at your EOT and looking forward to your SVR at 12 weeks past.

Take care

SF

Hi Anna,

Congrats on finishing your tx, and getting that wonderful EOT undetected result!   biggrin

I agree with what Canuck said, please don`t feel guilty because you had such an easy ride on Harvoni, just be thankful that you were able to benefit from such an amazing advance in treatment!  Having gone through the horrors of Peg/riba myself, I`m only too happy that people don`t have to suffer like that any more, and I`m sure that goes for everyone else here who went through it in years gone by.

Thanks for your encouraging post and best of luck for SVR... we`ll be looking forward to hearing the good news!!

Hi Anna,

I'm glad you're done and very happy to hear you didn't experience any side effects. WOW is all I can say! My money is on that undetected turning into a SVR12 right before the holiday season! How does that sound? Yeah baby, SVR!! Here it comes...

Thank you, Canuck!

You hit the nail on the head.  Survivor guilt.  Thinking of those who suffered through interferon and Riba for years and either were the lucky 50% or so that cleared it or the other group that got or gets another chance to clear it with the new wonder drugs.

It is VERY fitting, that for you, that you have ONLY the very smoothest of rides to your SVR EOT+12 VL result. You have been a model, for many, on how well you coped with having HCV, and dealing with life that HCV brings you. You welcomed treatment with wide open arms and a brave, positive attitude. It is not just the sides, or the worry, that comes with having HCV that is hard enough - people transform, and the transition is labourious. You did it very well (but, I highly suspect you have practised/honed this all your life! (That's a compliment-like 'n case ya didn't notice!). I am already feeling your big smile at EOT+12! Don't go getting all survivor guilt on us just cause you did not get sides, we know what work it can be to get here. You deserve this and a smooth ride. smile C.

I finished my 8 weeks of Harvoni on June 13 and tested UND at end of treatment. I take my SVR test after Labor Day.  I was telling Gojuman (Mike) that taking Harvoni every day was like a security blanket.  I had no side effects, whatsoever, so when my 8 weeks was up - I wished I had 12-just to keep on putting up the good fight.  There's always that lurking fear until you get the UND after 12 weeks that maybe it was too easy. Maybe I should have suffered more. Had some side effects.  I will report my results.  Anna
