Hi Sophie,

The member Cleanse hasn't been around for a few months, so I'm not sure you'll get a reply. Another Epclusa warrior will respond in time. In the meantime, allow me to say that what you're experiencing isn't uncommon at all. Most of these new treatments can cause occasional problems with insomnia and there have been many others, regardless of treatment, that experience the right upper quadrant discomfort that you spoke of. The liver itself has no pain receptors, and what you're feeling is often digestive in nature. It's not uncommon to experience a variety of "different" feelings as you progress through treatment. These are powerful drugs and even though the side effects profile is narrow, they can still be noticeable at times. Rest assured they will come and go, but won't last.

The most important thing you can do right now is, if you're experiencing insomnia, try to rest whenever you can, cat naps, whatever it takes. The digestive issues, along with many other side effects can be reduced or eliminated by simply drinking 3-4 liters of water everyday, WITHOUT FAIL.

Hey Cleanse;

I am 31 and am on my 21 day of epclusa and wanted to see what you experienced since we are close in age and circumstance.

I have been having a hard time sleeping and consequently a hard time waking up int he morning.  I have also (this week) experienced an achey liver which I never had before treatment.  Wanted to see if you had any experience with either of these things.

I have my 4 week check up next week with my Dr, I intend to get as much info and as many questions answered as I can then.

Thanks for the support!

Hope you are well!

Hi Cleanse

today had 8 week check up ...still feel great. I take my tablet at 7.50 am every day as I walk my dogs at 8 then go to work so its part of my breakfast and make up routine' I have a separate alarm on my phone....one which is different from all others and really loud....I drink half litre before I get in the shower and another half after my tea and breakfast. Thats the first litre done ....I carry  a 1.5 litre bottle full and drink it during morning at work...then I know I only need another 1 during afternoon and evening meal. I drink another half litre before bed. If I forget to drink I soon get headache start so will guzzle a bit more and the avche goes...if not I take 2 paracetamol...that's about it really...eat well and don't smoke or drink alcohol anymore...I hope you are finding your routine ok and adjusting well to the marvel of feeling Hep free ? It is wonderful to start feeling normal as we forget while we are ill ...I think I learnt to live with being ill for so long I was a miserable cow and so emotional ...it was all put down to Menopause .....anyway ...I'm good now and so excited...as Jimmy said ...to hear of people actually doing this so easily ....it's going to change the world of hep treatment ...wonderful....yippeeeee biggrin

Hi Cleanse,

Welcome here.

I (WAS) a GT3a, cured on epclusa (and an additional drug - I was in a trial). I felt "quite" ill prior to treatment, and it took me a while to start feeling better after I was cured, but, I am both cured and feeling better and still improving, all because of Gilead's wonderful drugs.

Now, mind you I am much older than you and I was packing HVC for many, many decades, you are young and have had HCV for 10 years? Everyone is different, from how sick they feel and how much damage they have sustained to their livers prior to being treated, to how they will feel on treatment, and how much and how soon they notice feeling better during or after treatment.

Jaggles is a good example of getting to feeling better while still on treatment!

We are truly, each different.

Generally, your nurse is likely right, if you feel negatives during treatment they should be tolerable.

Drinking a LOT of water, and I mean A LOT!, (strive for a gal of water each and every day) will really help prevent  or minimize any sides you notice, such as maybe headaches, or feeling "off".  You may not detect ANY sides, we have had some folk here who have felt NOTHING!

Time of day is your choice, as long as it is the SAME time every day without fail. Some people opted for later in the day, thinking that IF they felt anything negative they might sleep through it? No best time of day, except for what YOU think is best. Just "be on time", and ensure you do drink the water.

Can you share a bit more info about yourself?? Like what GT you are? Maybe you are a GT 3 as well? If your can share things like your GT, and sub-type, any blood tests you know (ALT/AST/Bili your viral load), or other test results like whether you have had an abdominal ultrasound, a fibroscan or if you know your Fscore (level of fibrosis), all that would be helpful info for further questions or discussions you may want to bring up.

I am very glad you are about to get started on your epclusa cure. It is one of the best.smile

How are you feeling? C.

I must confess, it excites me to watch the two of you.

Having been where you are and remembering it makes my heart glad to know what lies before you both.

The wonderful announcement of SVR.

Pick your number.

4, EOT, EOT + 12?

Smells like VICTORY! and tastes like Chicken.

its been a god send and an easy ride. I was virus undetected at 2 weeks ...had it about 35 years we think but only became chronic last year which is why diagnosis took so long. I got very ill but ...,I have to say feeling fantastic...compared to how I was.  Just drink at least 4 to 5 litres of water per 24 Hours to avoid any side effects. You should be fine to study ..... I'm back to work full time and busy...brain fog and blurred vision gone and joint pain has improved. Just thankful for modern drugs and of course...all the lovely people here who have literally been here all the time I needed help.

I still can't believe how easy this treatment has been. And every day remind my self how lucky I am .

you will be fine in no time biggrin

Hi, thank you for your response, and good job on being half way through! You're almost done! I spoke with the nurse practitioner recently and she also thinks the chances are very low that I will suffer from severe side effects. Hope this works out.

Do you have a preferred time of day to take the medication?

Hi everyone,

Im 35 and about to begin Epclusa. I'm very happy to finally begin treatment. I've had this condition for over a decade. I've read about and watched videos regarding the side effects of this treatment, but Id really like to speak with some people who have taken or are currently taking this medication.

During my treatment Ill be studying for the bar exam and Im wondering if anyone has had a similar experience while taking this medication.

Thank you all for your help.
