Man, I HATE to see anyone miss cake! Or icecream! But ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Your approach (and thinking) is wise and methodical, juggling as you are (trial and error) will soon tell if it helps. Sorry you are having to juggle at all though. Hm, a hundred mocha kashi bars huh?, Tig and I are going to have to try that. Good you have a safe food list to go by - time will tell if your GB could have been a contributing factor. The "head" things, headache/woozie thing - did you take/check your BP? Don't know if you own a machine, that you could just check your BP periodically at home, or even if you could check it when you are out, drug store/whatever - but would be good to know, to rule out any increased or decreased BP that you did not know about? Just a "rule that out" thought. Would be nice to have a few of those under your belt to put any theory like that to rest.

So, when you go for your 4 week blood draw, will you being seeing your doc that same day, or will you have bloods first and then see him a few days later? Just trying to anticipate how, and how soon you will receive your 4 week lab results.

When you do go to see the doc, are you going to ask him for copies of your "pre-treatment" labs and test results as well? - we would love to help you pour over and compare any of the befores and afters! With your GB hx I am also curious to know what your past bili's, etc. have been.

Nice your "James" is trying to be nice. Hope tomorrow is a better day. C.

thnx tig,

today i took Harvi at 11, that is 2 hours down from tuesday @ 1pm. i slept well enough and woke up with only a mild fuzzy headed feeling.  no strong weird feelings.

for me i think it was the higher fat content in the cheese and sweet pot.chips that added to indigestion on that day. so bread is my go-to food.

i like dif low sodium pita and breads , and boiled chicken- thats my best safe food.

apples, bananas, oatmeal, asperagus, also i can eat a hundred of the kashi dark mocha almond bars and still feel good , lol.

i'm so glad i didnt get that weekly cake this week.....  :(

so yea, this could be the 2 week mark of adjustment, or that coulda been the gallbladder crying with so much going on.

i'll go down to 10am tomorrow and slowly get to earlier and earlier until i don't have to wake up and take it biggrin, and sleep thru the side effects all together.

im so glad i had the forum here to listen to wise suggestions and knowing that everyone here either went thru this or is going thru this.

hubby is being kind and caring and that also helps....he's always asking if i need water and chking on me while i'm sitting , resting watching tv in the den.

Hello,

An hour either way was considered acceptable. Sorry about the headaches. During the adjustment period, usually the first two weeks, your system goes through some serious changes. I remember the old drugs, those harsh side effects never stopped and typically got worse throughout the entire course of treatment. The new medication has reduced or eliminated that, but many have found the headaches and fatigue to be the most common. Try to add additional fluids ahead of the administration time, add a fat rich food, ice cream or cheese is good. Sometimes that helps with absorption and changes the way it affects you. For some people it’s a trial period. It takes experimenting to find out what works best. You may not beat them all, but mitigation is possible. I think you’re going to figure it out! Keep trying until you do...

so the old protocol was to go backwards one hour a day? in order to adjust?

yes, i heard going backwards was better...

pharmacy said i could jump back from 1pm to 9:30 am for 2 days, then further back to 4am or 5am [i figure 4:30 am would be a good middle]. or take some time off to adjust more slowly.

but being wired before trying to go to sleep not good either.. so it's all been about trying to live under the harvoni...losing some sleep would be better than going to fast since i can take valium.

right now i'm getting a little tired with that little headache trying to start.. a little woozy... not a rush. yesterday i may have missed the early warning wooziness. so if it comes on before work, or at work it's not a good thing. this would be better if it was happening before i go to sleep.

i would stick with 4:30am as long as it works, maybe ease back to 3am slowly..... depending of course on all outcomes by and by.

i go to the type of dr that says harvoni has very little side effects.hahahahahaha.; and this isn't extreme ,just the timing of it is unexpected.

my family dr saw my husband thru it tho so she is available to me if i need time off or any help.

so. here i am in the period of adjustment.

the new protocol gives us a 2 hour window to take the pill on any given day....but i have stayed with the same time everyday unless i have gone backward 1 hour.

i will grab my harvoni book the next time i get up from my comfy spot :), and see what it says. and then post some info as well as any side effects i end up having today.

thankyou for your responses everyone 5

I just saw this post, I’ve had one of those days! I think I answered my most recent knowledge in 5118’s post. The old standard was considered to be an hour per day until the target was reached. The new rules would be good to know. I would be very interested in reading the information provided in your booklet if you can post a link or picture/scan of it.
