Darlings, I couldnt have done it without you.

THANK YOU!!

You guys have been here for me every step of the way. You listened to me when all I had to say was crazy talk, filled with fear and anxiety. You heard me talk about my fears and my aches and tiredness.  You gave me hope! You lifted me up and told me I could do it, when I was so unsure, so fearful, so filled with doubt and worry. You did that for me for MONTHS until I could have the strength and courage to do what Ive been blessed to do:

SLAY THAT DRAGON BEAST!!!!

You all gave me that strength and courage. I sincerely could not have done it without you. And as I stand here before you with my customary melodrama, one foot propped atop a dead dragon and my sword hand raised to the heavens, I make this solemn vow:

I promise you I will make this life worth living I will help others I will be true to myself I will know Gods will and I will have the power to carry it out

LOVE AND GRATITUDE,

hoodie

Hey Hoodie,

Congratulations, Sister! I’m thrilled to hear your wonderful news. I remember a friend that came here with questions and concerns about what to do and what to expect. It’s amazing how fast your treatment progressed and how well you did throughout. Of course it probably went by quicker for us, lol!

You have proven yourself a Warrior! Well done, you did it...

Oh Hoodie,

I couldn't be happier for you.  Even though we were sure you would get here, it feels like a million bucks when it actually happens.  What a great relief you must be feeling. I found it kind of surreal that it was such a big, big deal and then suddenly, whoosh, over.  It's going to get better from here.  You did very well, slayer.

I have to go now, my feet are starting up a happy dance.

All the best, you HepC Free girl, you.

Hey Hoodie,

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!

A lovely UND for our lovely Hoodie! Congrats on your SVR12.

That was a pretty quick return of your lab results eh? You only had that draw done about a week ago? So, how does that UND feel? Did you get any other labs with that? When was the last time and next time you see the doc?

So nice you have this SVR12 under your belt now, we are waiting for some other folks results pretty soon as well - the good news we all appreciate sharing.

Thanks for your prior update as well, good to figure out you had not had to move far away for the new work, but commuting certainly can add an element your workload. I am hoping you will find a new sleep hour quota settling in over the next months since your cure - my sleep requirements changed (amount of sleep required lessened) slowly after I completed treatment and was cured. Maybe this will happen with you too (some less sleep required). Glad to here you are still doing yoga - me too - movement is our friend!

So glad for your SVR12, you so deserve to be "officially" free of this virus. Congrats, bigtime. The light in me salutes the light in you my dear! biggrin C.

Hiya Hoodster,

Good to hear from you.  I'm glad you're starting better.  All meds and all people are different but it usually takes a few months for system to readjust. That should fit well with spring on the way.

I'm so excited to hear about your bloodwork!  The closure is thrilling.

Sleep tight,

Hi Friends!!

Sorry Ive been so busy lately and not checking in regularly.

Canuck, no I didnt have to relocate for this job but my commute is about 30 minutes more total, not too bad but enough to feel the difference.

Mom still sleeping 10 hours a night when I can get it. Often around 8-9 hours will do.

I think Im starting to feel better finally, but its up and down. I think my stress tolerance is improving.

I got my 12 week post treatment blood draw done yesterday, so Ill report back with my UND as soon as possible!

Thanks and love

hoodie

Hi Hoodie, hope you are well for the New Year! Canuck was right the first two months I was on Epclusa I was never so tired in my life.

I was one of the patients who had to feel much worse before I could feel better ... it even concerned my doc as he said my reaction to Epclusa was definitely an edge case but he said just tough it out as my viral load crashed dramatically and labs were normal. Now I have plenty of energy, and feel better than I have in ten years, well except for the arthritis and the bum knee but one grows old.

Hoodie,

How's the new job going?? Did you have to do a major "re-location" (to another city) for this job? Just wondering. That was my impression but i could be wrong, it seemed like you did not have a lot of time for a big pick up and move. confuse

My other curiosity is how much fatigue you still have. I know you were like me (and lammasu) in experiencing some profound fatigue, and big needs for many hours of sleep per day. But I have been gleaning this fatigue has lessened for you now after EOT? and that you are requiring less hours of sleep? - maybe you already said this elsewhere on another thread but i cannot recall exactly what you have said on this subject. I recall the intensity of lamassu's fatigue was more related to being severe "while ON-treatment", whereas mine was profound for quite a while before treatment and of course continued just as profound or thicker while on-treatment, and then was slow to improve for me post-treatment - I am just wondering how the fatigue and sleeping has morphed/evolved for you. C.

OMG Iris, I went to yoga yesterday and the instructor was late so we couldnt get into the building, I had to pee so bad! It was such a terrible emergency! Then the instructor arrived and announced that she didnt have the key to the church where we do yoga So I had to drive about 5 miles to the nearest bathroom. It was quite an adventure! I was so nervous I might pee my pants! That put the P in PTSD, lemme tell ya!

Hoodie, I slacked off the water too. I was way down the last month of treatment, and now I'm back to my normal, several cups of coffee, and maybe two glasses in the day, a beverage with dinner, and that's about it. I try no to drink before bed but that's when I like some herbal tea. And a short glass of water to take vitamins with. I do sometimes go on a juice binge, but that's a lot of sugar. Seems processing sugar and fats had become an issue, but maybe that will be in the past now?

I really hate having to find a restroom all the time blankstare what can I say, sometimes a bush just isn't near hmm

You're doing great, If you used to jog then ease yourself back into it, (after the smoke clears) ...hey, we should be getting our "good news" right about the same time in January...hang in there biggrin

bb, Iris

Hi Hoodie,

For me the heavy fatigue ended like magic after week 10 on Epclusa. Seems like it was overnight. Now my stamina was lousy because I had gotten little exercise for over 2 months but 6 months after end of treatment now I am feeling pretty good, and walk every day as much as my bad right knee can handle. Probably will get the knee replaced next year as I have had enough medical treatment for one year:) I still drink at least a half gallon of water a day. May not be medically necessary any longer but I feel better when I stay well hydrated. Just waiting on the 24 week viral load results from the test done last week. Everyone's journey is different I have no doubt any lingering fatigue you have will pass. Take good care of yourself!

Polo - Many thanks birthday girl

Shemp - Thanks Champ!

Cheddy - Fatigue is still an issue, along with anxiety/PTSD. My stress tolerance has been notoriously low for the past few decades. It is my fervent hope that my stress tolerance will improve. I think I see signs of that but of course my head messes with me and tells me Im crazy. Im just going to continue getting the right amount of sleep, proper nutrition, and especially yoga/meditation.

Everyone - I have totally slacked off on the gallon a day thing! So today I have renewed my practice of keeping track of my water intake to try to reach at least half a gallon if not more every day. What do you guys do? Do you still drink a gallon of water a day after treatment ends? Do you still track your water intake? Im going to try to get in a full gallon a day again until my January blood work for SVR12.

As usual, thank you so much for your care and concern

Hoodster,

How absolutely wonderful to hear your EOT viral load was zippity, nada, nothing! "Undetected" will forever be a word that holds special meaning. It does for all of us and I know that SVR will also prove true for you. I'm feeling it!

Ride out your last days with Company A with a smile on your face and the knowledge of great days ahead with Company B. I know you're going to do well, just look at how successful you are right now! Much to be thankful for, no question about that. You're winning and will continue to. After your probationary period and promotion to manager, combined with successful treatment and SVR, life is going to continue to improve in ways you only dreamed of 6 months ago. That's what hard work and a positive attitude will get you!

Woot!!

Iris, for sure the air quality here is very bad, but I dont seem to be too terribly affected by it. its just a little depressing thats all, knowing that people are suffering so much.

Cheddy, thanks for checking on me Cheddy. I gave two weeks notice at my current job so my last day there is 11/27. My new job starts December 10,  so that gives me 12 days off between jobs, yay! And yes I totally have imposter syndrome! But I know its going to be fine. The company is super profitable and its employee culture is renowned. But its the big time so Ill definitely need to perform in order to be promoted to manager in 6 months, which is what I interviewed for. They were nervous about hiring me directly into that role, so they hired me as an individual contributor with the expectation that I will be promoted in six months. To be honest Ill be happy either way.

Canuck, sorry I forgot to update you all! I did get the results of my viral load and they verbally told me over the phone that its undetected. Come January Ill get confirmation of that and then we will all do a big happy dance together!

How are you feeling Hoodie?  Any changes?  How are your nerves holding up?

You are going to be so freaking thrilled!  I just know it.

How the new job?  I remember when I started a new job, I would freak out thinking, "Oh my god. Why did I say I could do this?!"  2 weeks later I would be be saying, "What was that all about?"

Well, I hope all is well and improving.  I don't think you will settle or less.

Hoodie,

It's getting to be almost a couple weeks ago you were getting the EOT labs you requested, your ALT and AST came back, nice and lovely and low (10 and 13), but what ever happened to the VL results?? uh, did I miss it, on another thread?? confuse C.

Hi Hoodietree,

For Epclusa I got the overall 99% cure rate for GT2 and 95% for GT3 from this reference on PubMed. You can read the entire article at the NEJM here. For a wealth of knowledge about HCV I refer to the course modules at Hepatitis C Online at uw.edu.

Note that in the ASTRAL-3 (Epclusa) study of the 231 GT3 patients without NS5A resistance associated variants at baseline, 225 (97%) had a sustained virologic response.

Don't fret I'm confident you are cured and you should be also. Because Epclusa is so successful across all genotypes testing for NS5A resistance before starting treatment is not the standard of care for patients with GT3 at present. Vosevi is never initially used for treatment naive patients but held in reserve for patients who have previously been treated with a Hep C regimen containing an NS5A inhibitor like Epclusa and do not achieve SVR12.
