Tonib, I went to a local wig shop and they were great. Tried on lots of different wigs and bought the one I liked best.

JoAnneh, when did your hair start growing back? Does it "sprout" noticeably?

     i'm starting week 7 tomorrow and have noticed w/in the past 2 weeks how thin my hair is. 10 years ago on my 1st round of treatment it

happenned as well. prior to 10 years ago i never had colored my hair and it had a gorgeous shine. well no chance of that ever again!

i believe if i just shave it all off it would grow back thicker and stronger than ever. of course i'd have to wait till after treatment. in the meantime i prefer hats and scarves.

Sorry for slow reply.
Try to find a Cancer center in your area
That sells wigs.
Contact American Cancer Society in your State
To see if they have wigs to donate AND
Ask if they have any certified 'Look Good
Feel Better' volunteers who conduct seminars
For patients w/cancer. These are more than likely hairstylist
That volunteer And that person would be helpful.
Ask your stylist if they work w wigs or know
A stylist to refer you to.
Google: Raquel Welch wigs, Jon Renault rigs,
Etc...
Do not purchase human hair wigs
Only syntheic!
I paid a $100 for mine and no one could tell
It was a wig and received tons of compliments.

I worry about this hair loss thing. I know it's trivial, considering. I don't think I had any really noticeable loss during my first round of dual tx. I do remember having a bunch of new growth when tx was done though..so I obviously lost some. I was thinking that maybe those hair extensions would work just to fill in any noticeably thin or bald spots. They are cheaper than wigs. I never used either before so I'm not sure.

Mine is also coming out at an alarming rate.  It did before when I was in interferon.  Came back the same as before.  I expect it will this time also.

Hep C 1a since probably 1981.  Incivek, riba and interferon-48 weeks.  UND at weeks 2-4-6-8-10-12-16-20-24.  Previously Interferon alone for 6 months non-responder.  SVR 48 weeks 12/11/14

yep, I'm losing my hair too. I'll be going back to work soon and I've got some anxiety about how it looks. I work with the public in a high profile job. I copy tonib on her request to you for a decent inexpensive brand, if there is one out there. Help!

Joanne I have never bought a wig before, where do I go?  They have websites with all these brand names, but I never heard of them, can you tell me a decent brand that is not real expensive?

I have been in the hair industry for 35 years. i also volunteered
With the Anerican Cancer Society and performed
Workship in every hospital in my City for
Women with cancer teaching about hair loss, etc...
Hep C treatment does NOT cause total baldness
And your hair will grow back the same as before.
Get a wig, I did and it was awesome.
I cut my hair short, stopped coloring it.
I discovered my natural hair color: grey!
I am off treatment and away from the wig.
I am wearing my hair grey and short.
Love the freedom of not coloring my hair.
Also, it is much healthier for me too.
Treatment did a number on my looks but
I am getting back in shape slowly. 48 weeks
Wasn't easy but worth it to save our liver!

Hang in there!!!!

Yes, I've lost half my hair, too.

I found a couple of nice hats to wear, even in the house.

I've read that the hair may grow back darker, thicker, curly when it was straight and the opposite!

I hope mine grows back curly!

Hi Brenda, on my second treatment i had bald spots, looked awful so i just wore a hat. This time on tx i bought silk pillowcases, big wide tooth comb, and patted my hair dry. I was just very careful and it just got thin. But i didn't get the big bald spots. It's just another fun part of tx. Good Luck.

Hi Brenda, it can be very alarming to see your hair falling out, and it is a common side effect, but I haven`t heard of anyone who has actually gone completely bald by the end of treatment.  There isn`t much you can do really, just be as gentle as you can when shampooing and brushing your hair.  Try not to worry too much, it comes back after treatment!  smile

...the goods news is that your hair loss 'should' reverse and go back to normal after end-of-treatment.

Ever since starting the victrellis, a few weeks after I noticed my hair just coming out after combing/showering.  Hair is getting very thin. I showed my boyfriend and he told me I am gonna be bald after treatment!!! Anyone have this problem....and I dont think there is probly much I can do for it.

More than likely the hair loss is caused by the Pegasys. It's one of the more common SX and unfortunately it happens all to often. Generally it doesn't cause full blown baldness but it can cause substantial thinning. Nothing can really be done about it.
