Hi David,

Congratulations on the news of your 4 week undetected viral load! It's a great day when you hear those results. The new protocols are the result of decades of what I like to call the attempts of many brave pioneers. All willing to try and cross the river HCV, some made it, many didn't. But we kept trying the next treatment offered, some many times, until the day came that they found a better way to cross that raging river.

The recent protocols have not only built a "bridge over troubled waters", but new research and those willing pioneers, have managed to build a dam upriver. It appears that raging river has been reduced to a stream, one that many are now able to step across. There is much to accomplish, but the successes achieved are to be celebrated!

The guy you met in the waiting room, that may not make it (this time), yet is so "alive", is one of the pioneers we both spoke of. If it wasn't for his willingness to keep trying, none of us would be where we all are today. He knows like so many here, that his day is coming! Your day is coming, I'm confident of that. Stay positive and keep your eye on the prize, SVR.

Thanks for the tip of your hat and your upbeat post! We're all in this together and look forward to the day this disease is put to rest in the history books. Let's hope it's soon...

Tig

Well said David.  The new treatments are a walk in the park compared to what they went through.  They paved the way.

Congrats on your early UND status! Best of luck!

Hi all ,

This post has been incubating in me for a while now , as I've browsed and then indulged in reading all the other posts that run through like a river of thoughts , bound by a common thread of challenge and fear and resilience , forward looking and then pulling from the shared past , always helping each through their turn ...

I feel very lucky today , like I've turned my own corner by seeing my UND in the latest results , week 4 of Sovaldi/Riba , minimal side  affects (headaches , skin , emotional variance , tired ) but really do-able , 7 more weeks and then no more pills . 12 weeks after that and SVR . Not counting on it yet , I know , but still ...

What I want to say is how much I feel for all of you that came before me , who faced an unknown scary treatment that was guaranteed to cause trouble but not necessarily do the job . So many didn't make it .

I met a guy in the waiting room today who probably won't , and he was so ... alive .

So I just want to tip the proverbial cap to all y'all who pioneered this thing we share , and wish you well
